Round 10 is held during AFL Round 13 and GWS and Tigers players will be on their bye, we have a week off in AFL Round 12 and can start to plot midseason trade and draft plans in the meantime.

The 8 upcoming fixtures, with current top 8 teams in bold are:-

Walpole Woylies (6-3, 4th) vs Drouin Dropbears (UOC, 7-2, 2nd) – this seasons 3 week knockout finals format means these games are less about cut-throat battles for top 4 positions but more for testing out game plans while holding something in reserve for potential rematches late in the year. Notwithstanding both teams are capable of hitting the scoreboard hard and will look to play a free-flowing style in a battle for supremacy.
Port Lincoln Power (6-3, 7th) vs Sherwood Magpies (7-2, 3rd) – the winner of this game will go a long way towards securing a second successive finals campaign after both teams broke long finals droughts in 2025. Season points against suggests that this one will be a dour battle.
Useless Loop Virgins (5-4, 9th) vs Neptune Island Noahs (6-3, 6th) – the Virgins sit 9th on season points scored and will need to knock off higher placed sides in the run home if they are to qualify for a 5th successive finals campaign. The Noahs are too good to miss finals but will need to produce a standard Noahs like professional performance in a danger game that threatens a rare 3 successive losses in a row if they fail to salute.
Mt Thirsty Boozers (6-3, 5th) vs Wedge Island White Pointers (4-5, 11th) - one the Boozers will expect to win against a White pointers side who are more than capable of an upset on their day.

Macquarie Island Whales (5-4, 8th) vs Rutherglen Fugitives (4-5, 10th) – this week’s game is a must win for both teams with the Whales aiming to secure their first finals campaign since 2021 and the Fugs likewise since 2022.
Heard Island Shags (1-8, 15th) vs Black Swamp 29ers (7-2, 1st) – the Shags are playing their 170th match this week but will find it tough going against a 29ers side sitting on top after 9 rounds.
Nangkita Bucks (3-6, 13th) vs Maralinga Atoms (3-6, 12th) – an 8 pointer with MSD and PSD draft pick order ramifications as both teams now look long odds to make the 2026 finals
Jan Juc Ducks (0-9, 16th) vs The Stony Ponys (2-7, 14th) – the Ducks are now holding an 0-39 record in their last 39 games while the Ponys look at least a 2 or 3 win better side than their current ladder position suggests.

    Good luck all

    Heard Island Shags

Out: Tom Burton, Lachie Jaques, Sam Clohesy
In: Elijah Tsatas, Nik Cox, Zane Zakostelsky (hopefully plays because I messed up his emergency. I didn't have many options anyway, but Calsher Dear would've been a better backup ruck. Bus slinger was an emergency but I already know he wasn't called up tonight)

DEF: Riley Bice, Ryan Maric, Judd McVee, Zane Duursma
MID: Elijah Tsatas, Massimo D'Ambrosio, Nik Cox, Cameron Nairn
RUCK: Zane Zakostelsky (Jedd Busslinger -oop)
FWD: Josh Treacy, Jagga Smith, Jake Soligo, Patrick Voss (Calsher Dear)
INT: Zeke Uwland, Riley Hardeman (Reef McInnes)

The hometown Shags @anthak have reached 15/884 (2 donuts) and have been dispatched by the 29ers 11/1038 with JDG, Lipinski, Schultz and Josh Daicos still to play in the King's Birthday game.

Hang on, I might still be a chance if Reef McInnes gets a late call-up in today's game!

But it is unlikely considering he's got a season ending injury. I dont think we'll risk him considering we're already so far behind in this game.

The ORFFF Round 10 Review is once again thanks to ChatGPT

Round 10 delivered another helping of chaos, heartbreak, and the occasional football masterclass, with several contests decided by the sort of margins that leave coaches staring blankly into the middle distance wondering where it all went wrong.

The headline act belonged to the Neptune Island Noahs, who somehow managed to survive a furious challenge from the Useless Loop Virgins. The Noahs scraped home 1227 to 1198 in what can only be described as a game of fantasy football Jenga. Every point mattered, every kick counted, and by the end both clubs were desperately refreshing score updates like nervous day traders. The Noahs won't care how ugly it was; four points are four points. The Virgins, meanwhile, can take some comfort in knowing they came within touching distance of a major scalp before narrowly missing out.

Not to be outdone, the Maralinga Atoms produced an equally nerve-racking victory over the Nangkita Bucks. The Atoms edged home 1193 to 1131, proving once again that their preferred style of football is giving their supporters mild cardiac episodes. The Bucks threw everything they had at the contest and remained in striking distance throughout, but the Atoms found just enough scoring power when it mattered. If these two meet again later in the year, neutral observers may wish to keep emergency defibrillators on standby.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Black Swamp 29ers treated Heard Island Shags with all the hospitality of a tax audit. The 29ers piled on a monstrous 1397 points while the Shags could only manage 884. It was less a contest and more a live demonstration of what happens when one side catches absolute fire while the other accidentally leaves the extinguisher at home. The 29ers continue to look frighteningly dangerous.

The Macquarie Island Whales kept their season moving along nicely with a 1183 to 1049 victory over the Rutherglen Fugitives. The Whales were never completely comfortable but maintained control for most of the journey. Mac Island's win was their 75th all time, the 11th ORFFF team to reach that mark. The Fugitives had moments where they threatened to make things interesting, but every time they gained momentum the Whales promptly sat on them.

The Drouin Dropbears continued their impressive form by knocking over the Walpole Woylies 1291 to 1185. The Woylies posted a score that would win plenty of matches, but unfortunately for them the Dropbears arrived carrying flamethrowers. Drouin's attacking output remains among the competition's best and they continue to stalk the upper reaches of the ladder.

Port Lincoln Power also enjoyed a comfortable afternoon, dispatching the Sherwood Magpies 1198 to 877. The Magpies spent most of the day searching for scoring options while the Power methodically accumulated points. By the end, Port Lincoln had secured a percentage boost and Sherwood had secured a headache.

Then there was the clash between the Jan Juc Ducks and the Stony Ponys, a match that won't be appearing in any coaching clinics. The Ponys stumbled, staggered and occasionally tripped their way to a 959 to 886 victory. It was not pretty. It was not elegant. At times it barely resembled competent football. But it was a win.

For the Ducks, however, the result carried grim significance. The loss was Jan Juc's 40th consecutive defeat, a streak now so long it deserves heritage protection. More importantly, it officially eliminates them from 2026 finals contention. Mathematically, their season is over. Spiritually, it may have ended sometime around Round 4. The Ducks can now focus on rebuilding, regrouping and perhaps locating a rabbit's foot the size of a caravan.

Finally, Mt Thirsty Boozers toasted another successful outing, defeating the Wedge Island White Pointers 1239 to 1117. The White Pointers fought hard but were ultimately outgunned by a Boozers outfit that continues to produce reliable scores week after week.

As Round 10 concludes, the race for finals positions remains fiercely contested. Some clubs are surging, some are hanging on for dear life, and at least one club is already counting down the days until next season. Just the way the ORFFF likes it.

    -------------------------------

The ORFFF pre-draft trade period ends with the first bounce of the Friday night game (June 19th) in AFL Round 15. Delists are due at half time of the same match, please lodge these earlier if possible.
