We're back! The chaos of draft night is over, the trade period is ongoing, and the season proper starts on Sunday!

The player injury info is a bit more accessible again and team lists are starting to be announced for Round 1 so our coaches should have a good idea of how their teams are shaping up for the season.

Vancouver Vultures @Athos123 vs Lima Llamas @hoschke118
The Vultures have definitely been the more competitive of this rivalry in the past couple of years, but with positions of 6th and 9th respectively last season, both these teams will be looking to improve this year. The move to defence for young Vancouver star Zippy Fish should help a lot with their structure, and this Lima list has never looked healthier.

Quebec Caribou @FreeKickLiam vs Lagos Royals @Peter W
The Grand Final rematch! It's hard not to make comparisons between the Quebec Caribou and irl North Melbourne. Both have been undefeated since before the 2024 finals and there's no reason they can't keep going. The Royals had a fantastic 2025, runners-up (and top scorers of the regular season) after jumping up from 8th in 2024. They have also brought in Brit Bonnici to bolster their midfield, in the only trade of the off-season (so far?).

Stuttgart Storm @Jono Steven vs Korean Kickers @Chloe
5th vs 8th on the 2025 ladder so this could be an early 8 point game. The Kickers took the win last season but it was the Storm that got deep into the finals - bowing out in the prelim to the eventual premiers. Both teams showed they have belief in their current lists by drafting experienced players, hoping for an immediate impact.

    Adelaide All-Stars @Corza vs Kyoto Kruisers @FreoDockers
It was a 2-point margin the last time these two teams met and somehow that wasn't the closest the All-Stars came to a win in their unlucky winless 2025. Surely the dynamic duo of Gardiner and Nanscawen can lead them to some more success this year. These teams have gained a lot of quality youth in the recent drafts and this game should be full of future stars like Ash Centra, Chloe Bown and Ava Usher.

Majorca Islanders @TheTassieHawk vs Darmstadt Dynamoes @WillH_VI
Both with high ladder placings last season and balanced lists, these two teams should be hoping to make a proper challenge for the top spot this season. Neither would be strangers to being there at the end of the season. In fact, 2025 was the first time in Premier League history that neither of these coaches competed in the Grand Final.

Good luck everyone! Happy fantasy coaching!
