Following people's advice, I have traded Grundy out, as a replacement I'll try Orton, he's coming back from injury so he'll be cheap and I'm using the money to trade Bock ... I'm making quite a few changes, I'll post my new team when I'm done.

I thought you might. He needs to be elevated to the senior list to get a R1 start, which may or may not eventuate. Some risk there.
Lots of good teams there... the starting rookies will not really be known until Thursday night before the first match... then it will be a mad scramble!
Over the previous years, my ignorance has perpetually caused me to pick the wrong rookies, of course I used to use the autopick and only make slight changes or pick a few good players then autopick from there. This year I'm getting TS

I most like my ruck/fwd 123 combo with Nic-Nat, Hale and Ryder. Definitely some options here that I haven't seen in other teams. But I like it. Hanley is never spoken about much, but I think he could take his game even higher this year, and is a very good chance of making my team. I like Goddard in the midfield, most have him in defence. And there is a good chance of him returning to a 110+ ave this year. Obviously as others have mentioned, there are a few players there who are under injury clouds, plenty of options to replace them with though so no worries there. One suggestion I have. Trade Bock for either Ball (301k) or Moloney(362k) and move Bartel to the forward line. Alone with Rockliff, they are considered as forward locks for me this season. Early days, but here's my team so far: B: Goddard, Gibbs, Heppell, Broughton, Goodes, Docherty, (Terlich, Pittard) M: Swan, Ablett, Cotchin, Fyfe, Ball, Moloney, K.Stevens, Viney (O'Meara, Crouch) R: Jacobs, Leuenberger (Rowe, Currie) F: Cox, Bartel, Rockliff, Monfries, Varcoe, Macaffer (Neade, Sumner) 156k left. I'd say about half of my team is locked in, but theres still plenty of spots up for grabs, obviously rookies will come and go. Lots of mid-price madness. I figure the extra trades will come in handy! Thoughts?
Here is my current team list, I traded out Bock for Orton and put in Kryten (he's doing well in the Nab cup) B: B.Goddard (Mid), P.Hanley, G.Broughton (Fwd), H.O'Brien, J.Batchelor,A.Otten,B.Goodes (Mid), L.Plowman M: G.Ablett (C), B.Gibbs (Def), J.Bartel (Fwd), L.Shiels, L.Whitfield, K.Stevens, B.Crouch, J.O'Meara, J.Viney, N.Vlastuin (Mid) R: N.Naitanui (Fwd), D.Hale (Fwd), J.Witts, M.Daw F: L.Franklin, P.Ryder (Ruck), D.Zorko (Mid), B.Maccaffer, J.Brown, B.Staker (Def), J.Kennedy, S. Kersten (a.k.a Kryten) If Nic-Nat misses R1 and so does Witts/Daw, I'll trade him for Cox. My 1,2,3 combo allows for byes, so in all 3 bye rounds my rucks won't miss out.
Looking at something a little different this year. Not going for overall. Don't care about rd 1-2 scores hence nic nat in the side Goddard Scotland Enright Duffield Reilly Hurn. Goodes Docherty Ablett Cotchin Stevens Wines Kavanagh Crouch O'Meara Viney. T Mitchell Jones Hale Leuenberger. Daw McBean Naitanui Cox Roughead Bartel Rockliff Macaffer. Daniher Lee Rookies to be changed as required prior to Rd1. Defenders should be set for the year baring any injuries or loss of form. Leuenberger to be traded out after the byes. Nic Nat, Cox or Roughy to move to Ruck and a fwd drafted in. Macaffer only forward need to be upgraded. Majority of trading and cash cows to come from midfield.
At the moment, this is my lineup: D: B.Goddard (Mid), G.Birchall, P.Hanley, H.Taylor, A.Otten, N.Vlastuin (Mid). Bench: B.Goodes (Mid), L.Stevenson. M: D.Swan, S.Mitchall, L.Montagna, J.Bartel (Fwd), B.Gibbs (Def), L.Whitefield, K.Stevens, J.O'Meara. Bench: B.Crouch, J.Viney. R: T.Goldstein, M.Leuenburger. Bench: C.Sinclair (Fwd), D.Currie. F: L.Franklin, T.Rockliff (Mid), D.Petrie, L.Jetta (Mid), T.Varcoe (Mid), B.Macaffer. Bench: J.Daniher, S.Rowe (Ruc) Cash remaining: $8,700.

Overall, a good lineup.Parts of mobility but not too focused on it, Orton should return to form and maybe I should try the Leuenberger idea. Having Swan instead of Ablett is an interesting plan, it might work but I've got Ablett. A possible problem is if Leuenberger doesn't return to formyou're left with only 1 ruck.

Yes, I get that you have DPP with Goodes/Vlastuin but Gibbs is only selected in your 22 because he is one of the better DEF players on offer in 2013. He has no place in the MID line. Ever. Similarly, Bartel should be FWD and not MID. Make the DPP links (if you can get them active) by using rookie-priced players, not premium-priced players.

Yes to all the advice Jason has given, but would add that the RUC/FWD link seems superfluous to me. The chances of Sinclair/Rowe getting much game time is slim, so one is not insurance for the other. Suggest you would be better off swapping Rowe for Sinclair and then find a way (Petrie, Jetta, Varcoe) of getting one of the mid-premium rucks into your FWD line. The DPP would then make sense.
@HOLKY Suggest reading Jason's comments above about Gibbs/Bartel (and Goddard) in MID. Take it as gospel. @TheRookie Not going for overall, which suggests Leagues. Why would you not be concerned about R1-2 scores? Given extra trades, why not start with (say) Ryder and work on upgrading (having had the chance to look at form) Hale/Lewey to NicNat over the longer term?
OK, some serious reshuffling of deckchairs was required this week after Leuenberger's news makes him a risky proposition at best. And with no similarly-priced RUC alternative, major structure overhaul required. There remains a shroud of mystery over rookie-priced players, particularly FWD - will they make R1 selection? The critical time for all SC players is definitely after teams are announced for R1. I expect that my own team will definitely change at this point, hopefully just swapping one rookie-priced player for another though. My current team is: DEF: Goddard, Gibbs, Hartlett, Heppell, Goodes, Stevenson (Docherty, Terlich) MID: Ablett, Dangerfield, Cotchin, Stevens, Wines, Vlastuin, Crouch, O'Meara (Kent, Viney) RUC: Ryder, Jacobs (Rowe, Daw) FWD: Franklin, Cox, Walker, Rockliff, Watts, Varcoe (Macaffer, Kennedy) Haven't seen much of Viney, so he's in some doubt. Would like to be able to afford K.Mitchell instead, but only $1.1k in hand.
Looks solid to me Jason, if you took Watts to Cloke you could get Mitchell in and free up some cash, I think Cloke has as much upside as Watts this year, but he isn't DPP, and it may depend on where he parks I haven't sent Kent's name anywhere, he is likely to play?
I've heard good reports about Kent, he's ready to go apparently. Has the build/body size to cut it in AFL straight away. Hence he is currently in my lineup. All could change when teams are announced though. If I downgraded Watts, I'd go to Broughton before I went to Cloke. I just don't like Cloke's prospects so much
I'll add him to my watch list thanks Jason. This is my current lineup, rookies are most likely candidates but R1 teamannouncementswill affect them, particularly whom is on the ground in the mids. Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Heppell, Laidler, Vlastuin, Stevenson - Docherty & Terlich Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Jack, Shuey, Greene, Newnes, Whitfield, Wines - Stevens & O'Meara Ruc: Ryder, O'hAilpin - Daw & Currie Fwd: Cox, Rockliff, Hawkins, Varcoe, Patton, Byrnes - Macaffer & Lee 21.9k left
O'Hailpin and Byrnes I haven't seen selected too often. Preseason form for each has been awful, are you confident Len? Would be very ballsy to start both of these guys IMO.
