I have some thinking to do. Thanks for the interest in The Cannon - I hope he goes really well wherever he ends up. The auction is open till midnight - I'll let bidders know who has been successful once the auction is up. Right now I don't know who the leading bidder is - I will work that out during today.

I have been reflecting on this. Geary (and indirectly Burbury) was up for auction, there was no bid for Jarryn other than mine. I emailed Andy and said let's do the deal. I now think that was pre-emptive and that there is a need for a statement that the reserve has been met and that unless there is a competing bid within 24 hours then the deal is final. I might be being overly defensive or pedantic about this 'trade.' But, I am firm in my view that an auction should be open and transparent. Had I been waiting for a 'reserve met' notice before making a bid I would aggrieved that I had been gazumped by a private agreement outside the auction and I would have squealed. I am uncomfortable about acting in what might be seen as a hypocritical manner. Over to the rest of the Association to see how this pans out. Please note that the clock started ticking at 0630 hours AEST on May the seventh 2014. Interesting Chels. It is my understanding that the seller sets the terms of the auction. That said, most people have been doing the 24hr thing (but not all). I must admit that I was interested in Geary and was mildly surprised when the deal was announced. But I'm not worried about it. I'm not suggesting I was a certain bidder if it was done any other way. Im happy for the trade to stand. Thanks for the transparency.
Thanks for the feedback Ant, much appreciated. BTW, Andy asked me if I would post the trade, I figured he realised I had more time to so do.

If Andy has agreed to the trade as the seller then I believe the trade should stand. The only rule I can remember is that if a player/pick is up for auction than it cannot also be privately traded.
From my point of view there has been no other firm offer made for Geary. I accept the trade with the Chelinator for Burbury.
I have another player I'm wanting to put up for auction. May not attract any bids, may be worth a speculative late round bid, I don't know. But wanted to give everyone the opportunity to bid if they wished. The player in question is Nathan Foley - Richmond midfielder. He's 28 and has played two games for Richmond this year. As a Richmond supporter, I reckon he has been absolutely dicked around by the club as he should've most likely played a decent number of the club's games this year. If he gets game time, he is a proven scorer and clearance specialist. I'll leave this one here to see if there is any interest. I'm not expecting very much at all - if anyone wants to take a flyer on him, feel free. Thanks.
Venus Bay have a player they would like to put up for auction. Nick Malecski Nick Malceski is 29 years of age, and here at Venus Bay we don't think we will be premiership contenders for at least another 3 years and Nick will be passed his peak scoring potential we assume by then. Although he is having his best year in 5+ years in 2014, averaging a touch under 100. So someone abit younger is what we are after, that has shown potential. If you are after immediate success, I think Malceski could add alot!

I had a dream last night, perhaps more a nightmare. The question that tossed in my mind, as I tossed in my bed, was; does the veto apply to the auction? Of course it doesn't, and I almost went back to sleep. But then that nasty little gremlin came back and bit me. What if a seller accepts a bid which is not the highest? Could it be argued that acceptance was based on positional needs? If there was collusion, why then did they not simply use the trade route? Hmmm. Have to think about this, given that there is a portion of our membership who feel we should not have the veto at all. Also, it is beholden (a dying breed) on sellers to state the time limit for bids (i.e., when they will close). At that time they should announce any acceptance or passing in. In the meantime, do like chels: be honest.
Also, just as a note too - after some thought Ant's bid is the leading bid for Trent McKenzie at the moment. A tough decision to be honest, but at the moment, Ant has his nose in front.
By 'out' I mean that Pick 5 and 2nd Round MSD is my highest bid. If Anthak withdrew bid or blah blah whatever happened, that bid still stands. Just can't go any higher. Peace.

If this auction fails to return the required value by the 12th it will be pulled and available for private trade, or for auction at the end of the year. <div> Hi Len, for your first 2015 PSD pick, I offer: Phil Davis and my 2015 round 3 PSD pick.
I would like to put David MacKay up for auction. This dashing HB flanker for the crows is averaging 86 with 5 scores above 80 including a 133 in the last 7 weeks. He is averaging 21 disposals and starting to find a lot more of the ball. For clarity he has a midfield designation in Supercoach. At only 25 years old he is entering his prime and likely will only get better over the next couple of seasons. He could be a 5 year lock for your midfield with lots of upside.
