I thought I might have ended up in your spot tbh, Bandit. But instead it's a repeat of last year for chels & I. Birdsville down on manpower & form this year compared to last though. Cows should be very warm favourites. All the best for the game, chels. Here's hoping for a good contest.

The three-peat is off to a shaky start. I knew Roughead was going to be an out but Bartel and then his potential replacement in Rhyce Shaw out as well. It is definitely game on against Cradle Mountain, even without Stevie J. I will take a one point win if it is offered to me.

Bloody Hell - now McGlynn's out. All these injuries for all these teams - these games are wide open in the first week of the finals. Here's a list for you - D - Walker, Seedsman, Otten, McPharlin (all injured) Bews - (first game back since Rd 13 or so, averages less than 40) M - Coniglio (inj), Jack (can't get a game) F - McGlynn, Otten, Lamb (inj), Vickery (susp), McDonough (can't get a game), Walters (first game back since ROUND 3 - likely to be sub but I won't know because he plays Sunday), Hunter (sub last week, could be again but I won't know because he plays Sunday too) So the good news is I can get a full team on the park. Bad news is 5 first choice players are injured or suspended, their replacements are injured or suspended and the guys I have coming in haven't played in 18 weeks or are only playing their 4th or 5th game. Last time I had this many injuries the Waikiks and the Nuffers belted my mob by about 300 points in consecutive weeks and I'd resigned myself to perhaps looking towards 2015! So the Wombats are a massive chance this week. Right now I'll be happy just to get through this week, let alone go any further. Team as follows: D - Frawley, Rance, Gibson, Bews (e - ha ha ha) M - Goddard, Tyson, Armitage, Cornes (e - Hill) R - Nic Nat F - Harvey, Westhoff, Betts, Walters (e - Hunter I think) I/C - Cooney, Maric (e Newnes) My two injury plagued ruckmen are all of a sudden about the fittest players I have. It's worth a bit of a giggle. Bah - whatever - let's see what happens. I used up a lot of luck in last year's finals, so swings and roundabouts. However it goes, it should be fun.

Full team for the Codpieces aside from missing our skipper and best player the little master GAJ. But we are confident we can get the job done with the same lineup which has been averaging 1350+ the last month Hodge is acting Captain in GAJ absence and what a finals performing captain he has been on the biggest stages. B - Hodge (C), Burgoyne, Harbrow, Hanley (Grima) M - NJones, Griffen, Shuey, Douglas (Mackay) R - Goldstein F - Waite, Breust, JRiewoldt, Darling (Goodes) I - Minson, Macrae (Puopolo) A little worried by my forwards, lets hope they are no my undoing. Jack Riewoldt is going to get Talia at Adelaide Oval so could get a lesson in football from the Crows young gun and Darling is as likely to score 20 as he is 100 mr inconsistent and then there is Waite avg about 130 over his last 3, he is due to revert to the Waite we all know and are frustarted by.... fingers crossed. Also I notice Bandit got Gunston back which I was hoping he would be without. Good luck Bandit, but not too much, we couldnt handle another first round choke at Iron Knob.

Well after a big week on the track after some poor form from our lads, we now have the pleasure of naming our team to take on Darraweit in the first week of the finals! This time last year our journey ended here after a loss to a brilliant Foul Bay line-up, but I think the experience from playing in the finals last year will hold us in good sted this year. We don't have it quite us tough this year in terms of our opponent, but Darraweit is a quality side and capable of producing the goods consistently, so we know this will be a hard fought contest. Good luck Chris. TEAM: In: Watson, Lycett Out: L.Thomas, O'Shea Def: Malceski, R.Murphy, S.D.Thompson, D.Swallow (Dempsey) Mid: Watson, Prestia, Bastinac, D.Shiel (Sheed) Ruc: Cox Fwd: Schulz, Franklin, Higgins, Jenkins (L.Thomas) Int: Dunn, Lycett (O'Shea) Team news: The timely return of Jobe Watson immediately improves our depth, but gives the selectors a few headaches. O'Shea very sitff to miss after showing he is capable of getting the job done, while L.Thomas makes way for the in-form Lycett who gets his chance after consecutive good weeks in the 2's.

Birdsville line up: D: Enright. Houli, L McDonald, Patfull (T McDonald) M: Ebert, Murphy, Ray, Treloar (Lonergan) R: Clarke F: Cloke, Jetta, Howlett, Mayne (Green) IC: McEvoy, Rischitelli (Wells) Great to see Daniel Wells back for the first time since Round 5. Would dearly love to play him as we've missed his scoring all year, but he'd have to be a massive sub risk this week.

Ah, the pointy end of the season. Sadly, not all my hoped for 'ins' got selected, so we will go with the tried (and hopefully true) D - McVeigh, Hibberd, Duffield, H Taylor (B Griffiths) M - Fyfe, Hannebery, Dal Santo, B Crouch (N Graham) R - S Jacobs F - J Elliott, M Wright, Podsiadly, Crameri (M Wood) I/C - Ziebell, I Smith (H McIntosh) A few guys who are new to finals footy with the Waikicks are lining up - Griffiths, Dal Santo, Graham, Wood and McIntosh. Treasure your first final's guernsey guys; make sure it is not your only one. A big weekend for Mason Wood - his debut in a final. Good luck JC - it seems bizarre that fate has thrown us against each at this stage two years in a row. BTW, that talk of the Cows being warm favourites? It means nothing when the white line is crossed - but, you know that.

Cradle Mountain team for week 1 of the finals
In: Sam Gilbert, Jamie Cripps, Nick Smith
Out: Tyson Goldsack (Omitted), Steve Johnson (Foot), Tom Boyd, (Omitted)
[span style='color: #333333;]DEF James Gwilt, Nick Smith, Lee Spurr, Sam Gilbert (Tyson Goldsack)
MID Scott Pendlebury, Liam Shiels, Dyson Heppell, David Zaharakis (Luke Brown)
    RUC Mark Jamar
FWD Dayne Zorko, Michael Hurley, Adam Schneider, Jamie Cripps (Tom Boyd)
INTER Nick Vlastuin, Shaun Grigg (Ben Kennedy)

After a lengthy match committee meeting the Devils have made three changes, with the most critical being mercurial midfielder Steve Johnson, ruled out with a foot injury. After back to back tons Liam Shiels will be promoted from the interchange and take Johnson's place as a starting midfielder. In all 10 games since the mid-season break Shiels has started on the interchange, increasing the depth and ability to rotate the Davils midfielders, in his past six games Liam has scored at least 80 points. Tyson Goldsack and Tom Boyd have been omitted with their places taken by Sam Gilbert and Jamie Cripps respectively.

The Cradle Mountain side that takes on 2012 & 2013 ORFFA Premiers Foul Bay will be missing three players from its best 15, which is about what you would expect at this stage of the season, however the quality of these players will be difficult to cover.

Starting midfielders Steve Johnson and Jack Redden who are both in the clubs best five players are on the sidelines with a foot and leg injury respectively, whilst the oldest player in the ORFFA, Dustin Fletcher misses with a finger injury. Despite being 39 years old Fletcher has been Cradle Mountain's highest averaging defender in 2014and has done a brilliant job as playing assistant coach of the backline. After playing such a critical role for the Devils during their first three years it is disappointing that Fletcher will miss the club's first final in a playing capacity, however he still has an important role to play as backline coach, assisting his players tokeep Foul Bay's potent forward line under control.

Good luck Chief Russell, not that you are going to need it.

<p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;] Dean - are you sure Nick Smith is playing? I don't know if he is. Though you do have a covering emergency.

Spelunkers team to take on the juggernaut Def: Mackie, MacKenzie, Grundy, Hansen (Hooker) Mid: Swallow, Jack, Montagna, Hill (Thomas) Ruc: Giles (Atley OOP) Fwd: Ben Reid, Petrie, Gunston, Sam Reid (Z. Merrett) Int: Pearce, Bontempelli Slight glimmer of hope Giles might make the cut tonight, if not there might be a quick reshuffle. Expecting Gunston to be cut when lists are finalised as well. Good luck Jim... try and go easy on me.

You are right Chris, Nick Smith is not playing, thanks for pointing that out. Smith has been replaced in the backlineby Tyson Goldsack. I have changed some emergencies so will name the full updated team below. Updated Cradle Mountain team

Out: Steve Johnson (Foot), Tom Boyd (Omitted)

The Devils match committee have apologised to Tyson Goldsack for naming himas the backline emergency and then making a late change to start him on the ground in the backlinefor the second week in a row.We have assured Tyson that he is a required player and that we will endeavour to give him some time in the forward line in 2015 and better utilise his versatility.

Just got home from my son's concert to find that my TSLeagues teams differs from the one submitted in this thread. The one submitted in this thread is correct, and I've ensured both it and the TSLeague one are the same (though in retrospect having Cooney in defence at half points would be worth it right now given Jed Bews' scoring ...) Sorry for the confusion.

Foul Bay's big guns didn't fire. Lesser lights need to step up or we are out first round :(
