Damn it - McGlynn would be really handy vs StKilda right now - the way they're going he'd score 150. Instead, he's injured and Franklin will score 150 for Wagga!!!
Nup - done and dusted I'm afraid. Can't play half a team against quality opposition, especially when a guy like McGlynn could've got 150 today as well against StKilda. Watson and Cox just ensuring that I'll be too far behind. Well done Lenny, best of luck next week. Darraweit's going to be pretty ruthless on injured players at the trade table and during delistment period. Just can't have so many guys out and expect to be competitive against good teams like Wagga Wagga.
The match up between the Cows and Birds is turning into last man standing - a battle of attrition. First, Elliott is a late out for the Cows, then Cloke barely lasts a quarter for the Birds. The home team has its fingers crossed that Fyfe will play, would hate to lose our player of the year at this stage.

Been busy with moving house so I've only had a brief look at scores here & there on my phone. No idea where our game sits chels, but I'd seen a few spuderific efforts from some Birds plus Cloke's injury, so I figured we were stuffed. Your update offers me some hope that all is not lost. Could be kidding myself though since I don't know the current state of play! Fingers crossed we both avoid any further late outs, injuries or subs today.
A short summary JC: Birds - 827/10; McDonald, Treloar, Clarke, Mayne and McEvoy to play. Cows - 801/9 (including Elliott's zero with Mason Wood, who is an emergency for north, as E); Duffield, Fyfe, Dal Santo, Ziebell, Isaac Smith and Crameri to play. Hope the new house has a good spot for a wine collection and that you are happy there.
Thanks for the update, chels. I'll back you to get home from there, but you never know what can happen in this crazy game. House is ok. Has a good backyard for the little fella to run around in. Has barely stopped kicking the footy around since we got here. Not great cellaring space, but I think I'll be able to eek out a spot to get back to an old favourite hobby, home brewing. Used to make a few brews I was quite fond of, but it's been a while since I've had the chance.
good betting JC - the favourite got up in a photo finish (1206 to 1186). Probably better for your ticker that you were not on line. Coach chels keeps his job for another week. The big Sauce ambled over after the game, looked down at me and asked 'Are you sure Fyfe is the player of the year?' He then strolled over to Nat and said quietly 'Better lift your game bro if you want the silverware.' I called them and defenders over, shared a few decent bottle of one of the sponsor's fine Cabernets, and said 'It's not you lot I am worried about, could you please rev up the midfield and forwards.' Duffield looked a bit sheepish but there was a consensus that improvement was needed. BTW, Mitch Robinson not sighted in the last fortnight. Typical of the those 'old navy blues' - goes missing when really needed.
Well, season done on the back of the worst effort for the year, which is a pretty disappointing way to go. Think my team reached tipping point last week with guys going down left right and centre. Every team can carry a certain number of non-playing players - some more than others. Reckon my tipping point is about 4 or 5 of my best 18 - I can carry that number being absent, but when that number stretches further - 8, 9 - then there's no hope. Add to that the fact the guys I did play either were average or weren't 100% either (looking at you, Mr Goddard) and I was never going to beat a good team, fit and playing well. The fact that was perhaps my worst loss for the year speaks volumes for being way over that tipping point. Overall, had a decent year. Lots of youngsters and Under 25s have staked their claim, the midfield is set for a while with some quality kids aged under 22 which is something I didn't have even 12 months ago. All that said, I'm going to be pretty ruthless in the coming delistment and trade period. Those who didn't perform or keep getting injured will be out the door and I'll be looking at offers on just about any player in my squad to be honest. No one is safe and everyone is in line to either be delisted or find a new home. To that end, despite my complete lack of fit and playing defenders, Messers McPharlin and Otten have already been give notice that they'll no longer be at the club in 2015. We thank both for their service and hope to move forward with some recruiting of defenders in the next little bit. Meanwhile, two young forwards will be on the block, as well two midfielders and probably others.Fitness staff have been removed from their roles and we'll be looking towards an overhaul in the offseason. The great Darraweit spinning wheel of trades and swaps is open for business. 'Roll up roll up'. Congrats Lenny - way too good for my mob this week and with a score that would've been competitive against just about anyone. Best of luck to all who remain in contention.
Congrats to the winners. Jimbo, can you state who you wish to play this week. The other two winners will play each other. You can make the announcement in this thread if you want.

Overall an end to a fairly poor year for the Spelunkers, key injuries hurt, and the move of Mumford to GWS totally stuffed my ruck strategy. Will be running the ruler over a few at seasons end... happy to discuss any and all trades.

Coach chels keeps his job for another week. <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]Certainly ended up closer than I'd imagined, that's for sure. Congrats on the win, chels - especially playing one down! <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;] <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]The game was definitely a good snapshot of our season - too much being left to too few. Only 5 decent scores from 15 players isn't going to cut it. While the retirements of Brown and Moloney account for half ofour mandatory delistings, the players shouldn't relax too much after a largely disappointing year. The Birdsville list management committee will be running a stern eye over the list with a view to culling the frustrating, the disappointing, the injury-plagued etc to try and rejuvenate the list if possible. There are only a couple of players who can consider their spot on the list as guaranteed for next season.Similar tomy fellow coaches who were also on the wrong of the scoreboard this weekend, our list management <s>shooting gallery</s> merry-go-around is open for business. <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;] <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]My inability to settle on a best 15, particularly at D4 and F4, has been an issue all year and yet again my decision making bites me. An alternate ending to either ‘the curious case of which McDonald' or ‘the Green/Howlett indecision' would've changed the outcome. But that'sjust how it goes sometimes. <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;] <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]That being said, the Cows were too good with only 14 vs my 15, so I think any other result would've been an injustice anyway. Again, well done, chels. Good luck for the remainder of your finals campaign. Here's hoping you get a full compliment on the field next round!

From memory, last season we set dealines of sometime on the Wednesday. This was decided by the FIXture Committee. This year, we were much less organised and hadn't decided or announced any deadline. Given the late notice last week, I made the deadline of 10am (Melbourne time) on the Thursday. This week, I presumed Jimbo would get in early, as he was the first to make his selection last week, so I didn't bother announcing a deadline... Lets just make it the same as last week again... 10am Thursday (Melbs time). Is that ok?
I will play Chels this weekend I think his team is a little beat up and tbh if anyone was going to benefit from his misfortune I am sure he would rather it me than 2 time winner Chief! Wagga Wagga looked quite potent last week and I think Chief can try to contain Franklin this week
Jimbo - the master of the understatement. 'A little beat up' - Fyfe at the tribunal, Elliott out, Geary and Knights injured in their VFL games pre possible returns and it is only Monday. Therefore, I reckon you have made a good decision - the one I would have made in your shoes. Lenny's guys have looked extra for some time. And we know, despite his protestations, that[span style='background: #ffffff;]Chief's mob always looks and is strong. Good luck to all this week.
