Round 15 Summary. You know what! - I am sick and tired of excuses! Even I'm not happy the way I have treated my small group of followers with how I have attended to my unofficial scripture of my punting performance on the AFL. I apologise to all for the lack of consistency compared to last year. I do have to admit that if you have never taken morphine, that 3 days of it, really throws you about. I don't condone drug taking, so let this not be an invite. I just got discharged from a 3 night hospital stay and with the possibility of a toe amputation due to a work injury on top of being told that continued smoking will aggravate infection, 84 hours into not having a smoke has wanted me to debut as a cage fighter! Staying in a hospital with shitty wifi service with my own personal phone with 0% charge from Sunday morning, with the phone charger, fuck knows where, has compounded in me wanting to stand atop a mountain and yell out an all mighty FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK. Ok, now that this is off my chest, I can get on with what I enjoy doing - informing punters of my AFL bets so they can bet opposite and make a buck. Next was the Friday night game where Richmond did enough to beat Carlton. The $80 1-39 margin bet got up and placed me in profit mode before Saturday. Saturday began with the Essendon vs Melbourne game. Now! What a lacklustre skill-less game this turned out to be. My Melbourne margin bet lost and did I witness the turnaround of the refined goal kicking action of Daniher? I had a couple of bets on the Bulldogs vs Gold Coast game and I am now getting used to massive turnaround in game trends in the last quarter. Where was the finger on the cash out button on this occasion? A goal feast by the Bulldogs in the last quarter squashed my pre-game bet of $50 along with a $65 live bet on the Gold Coast towards the start of the last quarter. I didn't end up having a bet on the Geelong vs North game as I was still shaking my head on how the Gold Coast stopped and the Bulldogs went berserk. I missed the jump on the WCE vs Adelaide game and I ended up having a live bet on the total game score line. It was the biggest bet I had on the round to date and I thought my maths and logic were going to get this one over the line. BA BOW!!!!!!! $159 see ya later! With both teams scoring a combined 67 points in the last quarter, it was enough for me to throw the hospital pillow across the room. The next game I watched was the Hawthorn vs Fremantle game. Why bet $159 when you can bet $400? I was super confident that Fremantle would lock down the Hawks and keep it to a low scoring affair in Arctic conditions in Tassie. Another blunder on the punt for me here and by half time it was time to pop a pain killer. All this doom and gloom on the AFL punt and I thought I'd save a happy story for the end. Why bet $159, when you can bet $400? Hang on a minute! Why bet $400 when you can bet $700. To date the $700 bet has been the biggest AFL bet of the year for me and the 'GO WITH YOUR GUT 'attitude came into play. I missed the start of the Swans game and when doing a rough calculation of how I was going on the AFL punt this week, I decided to roll the dice in a calculated fashion. It was another total game points bet. Without looking closely at my history with these bets recently, I know I had to find the lube cream again. I believe it was at some stage in the third quarter that I did some quick maths and decided that no more than 137.5 points would be scored in the last quarter. At 3/4 time I had 36 points up my sleeve and I was glad that I finally backed the line on the correct side. The $600 profit from this result gave some comfort in a terrible punting selection week. Hang On!. I need to thank some people. I 'd like to thank the QLD State of Origin team for making me a tidy sum midweek and a big thank you to the various nurses who allowed me to borrow their mobiles to place my bets for the weekend. A super big thank you to the nurse who let me use her phone for the Swans bet and an off the cuff bet on the men's Wimbledon final where I rolled the dice firmly in the Joker corner. Round 16 Selections. Either this will be a round of upsets or once again if the punters out there back opposite to my selections, they will make a tidy profit. We start tonight with the Nth Melbourne $1.20 vs Essendon $4.75 clash. Line is 30.5. I get a little worried with North these days as I don't know which North will turn up. I do like them for the win though. They are $2.25 for the 1-39 bracket and this could be the way to go. Dare I say, I am odds on to live bet in this game. Geelong $1.60 vs Bulldogs $2.40. Line is 7.5. Playing at Kardinia Park (yes the proper stadium name), the Geelong of old would smash these Bulldogs. This Geelong has no Selwood and their midfield is average at best. The Bulldogs are not great by any means but should get up by less than 40 points in this one @ $2.80 Gold Coast $2.30 vs GWS $1.64. Line is 7.5. Ablett + Metricon Stadium = Gold Coast win. Swallow & Shiel are big outs for both teams. It should be a win for the Gold Coast by less than 40 points and the $2.80 represents good value. Collingwood $2.35 vs WCE $1.62. Line is 9.5. My second favourite team has played well in the last three weeks but has let me down with narrow losses. WCE this year have doubled the score of it's opposition after half time. I am banking on this trend to be broken this week and in fact they will lose the second half. It will be a win to the Pies by less than 40 points and the $2.95 is good value. Sydney $2.50 vs Hawthorn $1.55. Line is 10.5. I think I'm the only person that hasn't jumped on the Hawks Express. In another upset, I pick the Swans to win this one. It will be a good scoring game and I just think the Swans will pull one out of the bag and play one of their best games of the season. Once again a game that should be decided by less than 40 points and the odds for this bracket is $2.95. Fremantle $1.10 vs Carlton $7.50. Line is 41.5. The purple train went off the rails last week and I'm sure the engineers at Fremantle have quickly repaired all panel damage and a frightening score line might arise here. The Dockers will win and the 40+ bracket @ $1.78 should be the result for punters. Melbourne $1.55 vs Brisbane $2.50. Line is 9.5. After losing to Essendon last week with twice as many forward 50 entries, it will take a very good reason for me to back the Demons again this year. Brisbane aren't that much better but I am banking on Beams and Rockliff to control the centre and produce a win for the Lions by less than 40 points at odds $2.90 Port $1.55 vs Adelaide $2.45. Line is 10.5. If all endings were happy, the Crows will win this game. However this is life and endings never go to plan. Will the Crows play with more spirit?, I'm sure they will but I think Port will have just a little more class and win by less than 40 at odds $2.25. St.Kilda $2.80 vs Richmond $1.45. Line is 16.5. Richmond opened up at $1.30 and they have eased daily. Let's not be fooled here. The saints are playing spirited football but the transformation for me has been the Tigers responding when required. ROUND 16 SUMMARY There seems to be a pattern to my betting trends. I place $50-$100 in bets on the first game of the week which gets me off to a good start, then I give it back on Saturday with interest and come Sunday there is always one bet that is larger than normal to offset the losses I made on Saturday. This round was no different. It all started on Friday when a $50 bet on the Kangas made me $62. Then came the Saturday afternoon games and I backed the underdog in all three matches. They were all $50 bets and they all lost. The Bulldogs tried hard, but every time I think Geelong are done and dusted, they prove me wrong and they get over the line by eight points. Then the Gold Coast at home with Ablett get outplayed by a rising GWS. It appears that Ablett + Metricon = win was the wrong equation. The last of the Saturday afternoon games saw Collingwood play West Coast. At 3/4 time the game was in the balance but like with every opponent this year, the Eagles powered up and kept the Pies goalless and win by 31. I didn't lose the whole $50 as I cashed out for $15.34 early in the last quarter. The clash of the Titans on Saturday night proved to be a great view for Hawk supporters. The happy team are firing on all cylinders and they have showed the whole competition what they're capable of. An 89 point drubbing of the Swans and my three margin bets on the Swans was gone by half time.I had $75 invested in this game but with the cash out feature, I manage to collect back $14. The other night game saw the Dockers beat the Blues by bookies expected margin of 42 points. I finally returned back to the winners circle making $46 on a line bet on the Dockers. This win stopped a run of 6 straight losses. I then headed into Sunday looking for that bet that just stood out so I could ante up. I couldn't see any value in backing the Dees and thought the Lions was a good bet. I missed the start of the game (just) as I had doubts where I would throw my money. I threw it at the Lions and it ended up being a bad throw. On a perfect sunny Sunday I couldn't get my head around the low scoring nature of the game. I had a look at the markets 10 minutes into the third quarter and found Sportsbet had the total points line at 130.5. Quick maths led me to a $300 bet on the unders here. As soon as I hung the phone up, markets were suspended as the Lions kicked 2 quick goals in no time. Here we go I thought. In the end the law of averages took over and the game petered out in a dull boring game where only a further two goals were kicked for the match. It was great for me as this $255 win covered many losses from previous games. The game between Port and Adelaide that followed was the complete opposite to the above game. 35 goals were kicked and a late charge by the Power nearly stole the game from Adelaide who had control from the outset. I didn't bet on this game as I was content that I hit the larger bet above. If I did bet here, I would have lost as I would of taken the Power 1-39. The last game saw Richmond win against the Saints. I had the two bets on this game with a Richmond HT/FT double and a total points bet. Both bets ended getting up and a $100 profit was made from this game. So after a gruelling 16 bets, where the strike rate was once again terrible, I made a profit this week all thanks to my Sunday bets, with a big thank you for the boring display by the Demons and Lions. With 12 weeks of footy left plus the Brownlow medal, I need to get my mojo in gear and improve this win/loss ratio if I have any chance to recover current losses. A week where we saw eight favourites win, it should have also been a good hunting ground for punters. I now look forward to Friday night where the horror show plays at the G. Round 17 Selections: There are two goals for me this round. Firstly I am looking at making a profit. The second is to have a selection strike rate greater than 50%. Hawthorn have recently dominated against top flight opposition and this week they come up against a cellar dweller. The smart money in this game would be to back Hawthorn 40 + @$1.22. For those looking at better value, an 11 goal win at $1.92 could be the go. GWS $1.88 vs Geelong $1.96 start of Saturday proceedings. Line is 1.5. I don't know how many times I have tipped the GWS to win this year, but this week will be one of them. This game can obviously go both ways and a winning margin of 1-39 should be the outcome. GWS are $2.40 and Geelong $2.50 in that bracket. My initial thoughts are GWS 1-39 Adelaide $1.18 vs Gold Coast $4.50. Line is 29.5. As a tiger supporter, I'm wondering what is wrong with this picture. Sure, the Tigers are playing well and Freo are playing indifferently, but this is a game where I think the favourites have been flipped. My initial thoughts with a little bias is Richmond 1-39 @ $2.20. Essendon $3.15 vs Port $1.38. Line is 17.5. Two teams on their day that if they fire, they would give most opposition a hard time. There is more upside in Port turning up on the day and hence they should win. The $1.38 is too short for a singles bet and I would be looking at Port 1-39 @ $2.10 Brisbane $3.25 vs Nth Melbourne $1.36. Line is 19.5. The last time the Kangas went north, they thought it was a summers holiday and they came back home copping a smashing from the lowly Gold Coast by 55 points. This trip will be the complete opposite. Boomer is playing game 400 and well done to the little bastard. Punting wise I like the Kangas at the line here. Bulldogs $2.10 vs Collingwood $1.73. Line is 4.5. I've put my faith in Collingwood in the last 4 weeks against tough opposition and I am 0-4. I haven't given much respect to the Bulldogs this season and I am jumping on this round. Sure they are the bookings underdog but I feel now is the right time to pounce. I think they will win in the 1-39 bracket with odds $2.65 Melbourne $1.92 vs St. Kilda $1.92. There is no line. Both teams have worked hard this year for little success and I feel St.Kilda could win this in a close encounter. The winning margin should be less than 40 points and the Saints in that bracket are paying $2.35. The last game of the round has West Coast $1.33 vs Sydney $3.35. Line is 19.5. The domination of the West Coast team in quarters 3 & 4 this year is remarkable. In race horse terms they canter to the first half and use the after burners to finish their opposition off. For mine, it's another west Coast win here and the 1-39 market is attractive @ $2.10 My first bets will be posted about 6:30pm tonight after work. Good Luck punters.

Round 17 Wrap. A PROFIT! That's all that matters. But boy oh boy what a mixed bag of lollies this round was. True to recent form the week started off well with the two bets on the Hawks/Blues game both winning and a $90 profit lead me into Saturday. While watching the telecast, I was surprised why Carlton supporters weren't wearing the complimentary blind folds they were given as they entered the Stadium. Along comes Saturday and what a mess this turned out to be. I placed my head to head and multi bets in the morning as I knew I'd be out all day and night. I had $50 margin bets on all three afternoon games and all bets went to the shit. The first game was the Geelong Cats proving me wrong yet again as they made easy work of GWS. I knew GWS are shit and I am still trying to get over the fact on how they defeated the Hawks in Round 6. The second game where the Crows played Gold Coast and I copped it on both fronts - the punt and supercoach. It was a late goal at about the 31 minute mark that forced my margin bet to lose. Adding further injury was the Ablett injury. Goneski, the rest of the season. The third game by far has a talking point - well my strong opinion anyway. Tigers in front by 2 points, just over a minute to go and they have the ball to be kicked out after a point was scored. It is at this point I need to say I had a $140 total points bet where I had under 154.5 points. The score with a minute to go was 154. Surely, smart heads work together and there should be no more scoring if the Tigers played the percentages. But no!. Houli fucking kicks in to the centre of the ground where one Tiger is against three Dockers. - every other Richmond player is on the flanks. Damn you Houli costing me a loss of $190. If Houli plays the percentages and final siren goes with no change in score, the $190 loss turns into a $183 profit. A $370 turnaround! Thanks again Houli. It was after these three games that I knew all my multi's were in trouble. , Now I had a few multi's this week, ranging from 3 leg to 8 leg multi's, six were placed after the Friday game. I didn't go too stupid with them though as $91 was punted on them. These multi's all ended up losing and the train wreck has commenced. Going from a $90 profit after game 1, I was now about $300 down. Along came Saturday night, and I was looking for a stand out. It is at this point I need to inform you I am still at the bar off the golf club and my judgment is partially impaired. Well at the time, it was She'll be right mate!. Two $100 bets were placed along with another $30 multi on the two individual legs. The $100 bets were Port to beat the Bombers by 40+ and the Kangas to win against the Lions by less than 40. The result of both games was the opposite to my selections. It was during these two games that I rang Sportsbet and made an enquiry on what the total points line was on the Essendon vs Port game. As it was a high scoring game, I was somewhat happy when getting told the line at the time was 196.5. I do remember that it was before half time I rang them. I said to the operator to put the bank on overs - the lot, even the cents. As he confirmed the bet, someone kicked a goal and the line changed to 200.5. He asked do I want the new line and I think I said, 'why the fuck not, put the bet on'. New bet of $646.57 was placed. As I kept watching the Bombers game in the middle of a four man shout, I was wrapped that goal after goal was scored. Things were going to plan. At the start of the last quarter I needed 6 more goals for the bet to hit, 33 points or more to be exact. A 12 goal last quarter and life on the punt is better again. What made this $550 profit even better was that I at some stage cashed out the three bets I had on these games. Instead of losing the full $230, I cashed out for $160 when the results were somewhat still in the balance. It was the final siren in the Bombers game that made me forget about Houli's retardness for a moment and celebrate a solid collect. After a good nights sleep I wake up on Sunday working out that I was currently $200 in profit. This was great, considering I only hit 3 of 17 bets. I started Sunday with a $50 on the Bulldogs to beat the Pies 1-39 along with three 2 leg multi's and a treble. I was in for $110 with these five bets. The Bulldogs selection was going to plan and the Saints had control of Melbourne. I was waiting for the right time to bet in the Melbourne game but nothing felt right. So the Dogs win by less than 40 and so do the Saints. One of my 2 leg multi's hits - $160 profit. I then focus on the WCE vs Swans game and I see that the Eagles are doing a number on the Swans minus Franklin and Mitchell on the bench - there went my chances for finals in supercoach. The Eagles are 41 points up at half time and its at this point I cash out my other multi's as I had the Eagles to win in the 1-39 bracket. The Eagles proceeded to win by 52. Rather than lose $45, I cashed out for $62. So after all has been said and done, it was the large win in the Bombers game along with a tidy profit on Sunday, that I ended up making a profit. Two weeks in a row I have profited and eradicated $500 from yearly losses. There is still a lot of hard work to go but at least I am going in the right direction. I now look forward to Friday night where the Tigers play the Hawks, A Carlton supporter said to me today that I could have the blindfold that was given to him last Friday. I said to this foolish supporter, no blindfolds are required as the Tigers will give the Hawks a red hot go. Remember Round 6 Hawks supporters, history can repeat itself.
