2015 ORFFA Pre-Season Draft

    The applicable rules to this draft:



    1. It is a requirement that you draft 6 compulsory picks per year, these can be done all in the preseason draft, or over both drafts.


    - A minimum of 4 of those compulsory picks must be taken in the preseason draft, that is you must enter the 2015 preseason draft with a maximum of 24 players.
    - It is not a matter of how many players you de-list, that is potentially irrelevant as the list size can be traded down or up in the trade period prior.


    - If you enter this draft with more than 22 players you must participate in the 2015 midseason draft.


    2. Each coach will have 18 hours to make their selection, after which time that turn is skipped, if they have not posted by the time any subsequent picks come up each pick will be given at least 6 hours and then also skipped.



    3. Skipped picks can be taken at any time, please state in the post that it is a skipped pick along with the standard pick info.



    4. Please double check that the player you are selecting is available first. Onus is on the coach to pick an available player, if you pick an ineligible player and subsequent selections are made by other coaches prior to its discovery their selections will stand and you will have to pick from the available pool at the time. Common sense prevails and will be applied by me, as commonly as I can..



    5. If for some reason two people manage to legitimately pick the same player, resulting from timing around a scheduled pick and a skipped pick, the post with the earliest time stamp is the one who keeps him.



    6. At the end of this draft all teams will have a squad of 28 AFL eligible players.



    Official start time is 0:01 Melbourne time, Saturday 21st March.



    All selections are to be posted here in this blog.



    This first post will be updated with selections made as regularly as possible.



    When making a selection please make sure there can be no confusion over who you mean, state the selection (pick) number, and ideally the player's first & surname and the AFL team he plays for.


    After 3 or 4 hours without a pick and no known reason I will email the coach if I have their email address (I am missing 2).

      Selection that players picked with number 7 at the AFL National draft have been selected in the ORFFA PSD's:

      2014 8 James Aish
      2015 68 Paul Ahern

      Lenny will be hoping that Ahern can replicate the performance of his predecessors selected at number 7 in the AFL National Draft.

      As far as Ahern has fallen he doesn't hold the record for the biggest fall by a top 10 pick from an AFL National Draft.

      Yes, McStay showed good signs playing the last nine games of 2014 in the AFL with Brisbane and I was very happy to get him with pick 67. My plan was to pick a forward with AFL experience with pick 49 and a defender with AFL experience at pick 67. At the time of selecting Goodes at 49 McStay was my next preference for 49 and was at the top of my short-list for 67. Given the strength of my midfield and McStay's dual-position status as a defender/forward he should be a very good fit for the Devils.

      I will wait until this draft is over before checking the biggest slide by a player selected in the top of the AFL National Draft.
