Yep, it's very similar to the AFL other than I use the points for to say where the team ends up on the ladder. In any sport it doesn't matter what you do during the year, what counts is the final series. I reckon the Parasites would have been dirty last year being minor premiers & being buddled out in the elimination final & based on what you're saying he would have got pick 18 for his trouble. Anyway I reckon it slides both ways regardless of what formula anyone comes up with. Happy to put it up for discussion in the review period. Pakenham got pick 14 as the highest placed loser in the first week of finals. The points scored that week didn't come into it. That's how the AFL do it and I don't see why we would change this year.

I agree with Damo (not sure if I made it clear enough earlier), and a few other's have said similar. Korumburra, Staghorn Flat, Pakenham, and Ararat lost in the first round. I've listed them in reverse order of ladder position at the end our the regular season, so their picks, in my opinion, should be in this same order - 11 (Blowflys), 12, 13, and 14 (Armadillos). I think we've well-and-truly hijacked this thread now! :)

The grand final is upon on us and sees what many would say is an unexpected clash between Blanchetown Bunyips and the Groote Eyelandt Barracudas.

Semi Final Review
Groote Eyelandt knocked out the favorite for this years title with a hard fought victory over King Island, there is no denying that the Monarchs have underperformed at the pointy end of the season in successive years.

Blanchetown who narrowly avoided an Elimination Final exit made their way through to the decider with an equally hard fought victory over the Panthers.

[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]The numbers suggest that Groote Eyelandt have the potential to go larger but also leak more points (average 39 more points against per week). Blanchetown has quietly got the business done when it counted and come in on the back of 5 straight victories.
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]

Will this flogging have a lasting impression on the Bunyips? Head to head since the byes sees the Barracudas lead 7-2.
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]Unfortunately this years grand final has the potential to be hijacked by Ross Lyon & Brad Scott with a serious case of the newest AFL fad ‘resting' to be applied to some teams this week. Baring this in mind a selection summary and tip will be provided post teams on Thursday night.
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]

I'd love to support the 'yips, but I think they've come down with a bit of a case of them... I'll be throwing my support behind the fish this week.

[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]EDIT
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]

[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]I have just dissected the teams as they sit in Matchday, the contest looks likely to see the Bunyips have 0.5 - 1.5 extra players on the park (depending on Ben Newton). Regardless of if Newton gets up we will have a game on our hands as the averages of the players playings is Cudas 1283 (1252 with OOP Ruck, 1187 without Newton) Bunyips 1263.
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]

[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]The questions to be asked are can the Cudas midfield and stronger bench overcome the likely advantage that the Bunyips will get from Jacobs and potentially the defence. The Bunyips will be heavily reliant on rookies in Laverde & Goddard posting reasonable scores if they are to prevail.
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]

If the Cudas midfield can get off the leash then they can win this game, however given the likely head start (provided Newton doesn't play) I think the Bunyips have to start favourites in this one.
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]Bring on Friday arvo for the finals teams.
[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]

[span style='padding: 0in; border: 1pt none windowtext; color: black;]Good luck!

Tyze, Thanks for the right up, awesome work. It's carnage everywhere! Obviously we can agree during the offseason on when the GF gets played, but I think everyone understands my view on the matter!

Grand Final fever is here and has taken some casualties:

For the Bunyips
Mayne & Pearce have contracted the Ross Lyon virus.

For the Barracuda's
Mzungu had a bout of the Ross Lyon virus earlier in the year and is still feeling the effects of it. Cunnington & Firrito have got the Brad and Murphy has come down with Bevonitis.

The pendulum has swung to the Bunyips as favourites as they have a full set of players on the field. In what might be an oops I got into the final for the Barracuda's they'll need a miracle to win as they will start as the underdogs in the 2015 ORFFU Grand Final.

The GF parade is over. It was a glorious affair with the Cuda's and Bunyips enjoying the Melbourne sunshine to a crowd in excess of 200,000 who were there to support these two great sides. Whilst the ORFFU is only 2 years old, the support for this fantastic competition just keeps growing and growing. There were a few small men in the crowd disguised in overcoats with wide brimmed hats taunting the teams and yelling 'FU, FU, FU!' They were later tracked down by police and actually found to be none other than Ross Lyon and Brad Scott - Bastards! Anyhow, the Bunyips line up for this weekend: DEF: Geary, Duffield, Laird, Langdon (R Thompson) MID: Armitage, Pendlebury, Langford, Whitfield (Boekhurst) RUC: Jacobs FWD: Shulz, Gray, Laverde, Goddard INT: Carrazzo, Sheridan (Atley) Go the Bunyips!!!

Vickery was on 25 for almost 3 quarters, was keen to see who could score less - him on Schulz. Now that he must have had a big last qtr, looks like Schulz will have it sewn up! You are off to a good start mate.

Barracudas are 184/2 92 to the Bunyips - For the Cuda's Captain Cotchin has inspired his troops with (112), Vickery was slow a starter but came back with (72) & 3 goals. For the Bunyips they are bidding their time to strike.

The Barracudas are 1295/14 92.5 to the Bunyips 943/11 85.7 Wow, some POOYA scores coming from the Cudas, Guthrie (148), Hannebery (148), Bontempelli (147) & Lewis (131). Setting up a great lead for the Bunyips to chase down. For the Bunyips Gray (121), Schulz (105) & Armitage (101) all performing to elite status even with Schulz being subbed out after his 4th goal of the day. With the dance not over until the fat lady sings the Bunyips have it all to play for in this Cracker Jack Grand Final.

Based on the last update, I reckon the Cudas may have just got up. It sure is going to be close though!
