With both teams having 9 players take to the field so far, it's the Smugglers ahead of the P-dawgs 830-616.

Week 2 Minor Finals Match Report: This was the rematch of the round 20 clash that saw the Whalers miss the finals, and it did not disappoint. The match was close all day with Eden just managing to get ahead and win by 132. Adams started well for the Barcrawlers with a BOG 136 but with Gaff and Duckwood contained and Walters out Banchang just didn't have enough to win. Lynch led with 130 while PSD pair Miles and Crisp scored 126 and 122 respectively. Griffen got injured but still managed 59. With that win, the Whalers secure a Minor Grand Final place against Christmas Island. So book your tickets for that one :D Eden Whalers 1240
DEF: Wood 60, Rowe 63, Hendo 74, Smith 84 (Malceski)
MID: Jones -6, Griffen 59, Miles 122, Crisp 126 (Suban)
    RUC: Hale 80
FWD: Boomer 76, Lynch 130, Pav 118, Brown 38 (McStay)
    INT:Curnow 100, Jenkins 116 (Fasolo)

    Banchang Barcrawlers 1102
DEF: Docherty 78 Impey 17 Newnes 86 Pearce 103 (Laidler)
MID: Selwood 51 Shaw 106 Gaff 66 Montagna 93 (Whiley)
    RUC: Pyke 84
FWD: Adams 136 Blair 67 Lambert 69 Walters DNP (Pickett)
    I/C: Suckling 77 Cunningham 79 (Gibson)

    Like everyone, the Smugglers have suffered from Mr Lyon's policies, as well as a Lion who doesn't want to play anymore (J. Redden). So we've managed to scrape together for the loser final: <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 0px;' dir='LTR]D: Webster, Hurn, McKenzie, Vlastuin (Lever) <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 0px;' dir='LTR]M: Heppell, Hartlett, Rischitelli, Grigg (Boston) <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 0px;' dir='LTR]R: Kreuzer <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 0px;' dir='LTR]F: Deledio, Martin, LeCras, Tippett (Monfries) <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 0px;' dir='LTR]I: Dumont, White (Witts) <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 0px;' dir='LTR]

It's time, the Minor Grand Final! We leave nothing behind, both teams with whatever they have left. Will this match be a portent of things to come or what might have been? Can Eden get their first win over the Smugglers, or will it be another case of almost? Am I taking this commentary job too seriously? Stay tuned and find out...

With 3 ex-Sandgropers in the Smugglers line up I'll have to throw my support behind them. LeCras requested a trade to win some silverware, let's see if he can take home a losers winners medal!

The Smugglers have jumped out of the gates at Flying Fish Cove Park to lead the Whalers 505/5(101) to 189/3(63). One of the last substitutions ever has hurt Eden's chances early, with Evergreen Boomer coming on late in the game to only post 27. Dusty and Lids continued their fine form up front, which saw them as the two top forwards in the BAFFU (at least that's what I remember) scoring 121 and 133 respectively. So it is advantage Xmas Island early in the Loser Final, but there's still a very long way to go in this one.

We appreciate the support EE. All the Gropers are a vital part of the Smugglers' organisation now, although watching Stringer at the moment I'm wondering if I'll be regretting that trade next year and for years after!

In the closing stages of the loser final it's the Smugglers 1154/13 versus Eden's 927/12. It looks like late outs will be the only thing that will stop Christmas Island getting their name on the silverware (stainless steelware? a piece of driftwood? I'm not really sure what the FU's budget for this comp is) with Heppell, Jesse White and 227 points up against Nathan Jones, Crisp and Fasolo.

And the final score of the Minor grand final: Christmas Island Smugglers 1356 def Eden Whalers 1225 (might be out by a couple of points for rounding) Match report to follow but it was a great game. Congratulations to winning coach DamoH and we will find a trophy of some kind to commemorate the game.
