Third day of -1f, snow everywhere, internet/power in & out......haven't been able to get online for a few days. Apols to anyone who messaged me, will catch up today - if my d&%k doesn't freeze off.
If anyone is interested in these players let me know. I would like a draft pick OR a ruckman, OR a decent defender, in return. Matthew Watson - Carlton - D/F Matt DeBoer - Fremantle - F Kane Mitchell - Port A - M/F Luke Russell - Gold Coast - F Tom Curren - St Kilda - M/F Sam Kerridge - Adelaide - F/M
So Petracca is out for the year, Kreuzer looks to be out for 6 weeks plus ... Beau Waters now likely to retire as well.
Trade table D Lee Spurr D Nick Smith M Shaun Grigg F Adam Schneider D Luke Brown (almost certain to be delisted if not traded) I am looking for an experienced forward who is cemented in his AFL club's best 22. The two ways I am looking to secure this forward at the moment are: A)Trade Spurr or Smith for a forward with similar output, both in terms of games and scoring average. Neither of these defenders will be delisted if they are not traded. B) Trade a third round PSD pick for a forward, I currently have two picks in the third round of the PSD - 37 & 49.
We are experiencing a noticeable lull in trading activity. Not a favourable sign for those calling for extended trade periods? I have a small amount of concern that an extended trade period allows those who have an offer on the table to hold off for as long as they can in the hope of a better offer. Understandable, but not entirely in the spirit. Here endeth the sermon.
Yep, I'm bored Terry.... I know the cricket has something to do with it, but this pre-season is extra long. Can't we just start the draft already!!!! Who is with me people?
I am about to jump on a boat and be off line for 2 weeks, no way I am handing over a list or passing on picks We also have a couple not back yet. It wouldn't work for a number of reasons, blame the ICC I do.. At least we are finally getting some rookie info with intraclub game reports, by the time we start we will have seen some preseason also; ORFFA the informed drafters
...........some of us are single handedly trying to keep the trade period active. (Its a dirty job but someone has to do it)

First game is still 40 days away, I like cricket, but each one of these 40 days I will like it less...
Guess we could always have a Clayton's Draft. The Chief could predict the first 20 to go in ORFFA, like those spurts at the Hun do.

I could, but then what chance have I got that some decent players fall to me at my first pick if I just go listing them all Who am I kidding, I love a challenge.... Will be very interesting none the less to see where Petracca falls now. Would have been a clear number 1, not so sure now. Picks 2,3 & 4 can all afford to stockpile him for 2016 so I don't see him getting past 4. Fitzy will certainly take him at pick 5. TOP 15 1. Lovely Banks - A. Brayshaw (would have been Petracca before his ACL) 2. Iron Knob - I. Heeney 3. Darraweit - C. Petracca 4. Waikickamoocow - J. De Goey 5. Venus Bay - J. Crisp 6. Mt. Beauty - S.Martin 7. Lovely Banks - P. McCartin 8. Nunawading - P.Wright 9. Marble Bar - N.Cockatoo 10. Gundagai - D.Moore 11. Gundagai - L.Weller 12. Charlie's Opening - L.Duggan 13. Cradle Mountain - J.Pickett 14. Wagga Wagga - P.Ahern 15. Larrakin Lagoon - J.McGovern We'll see how badly I do...probably about the same as I go with premiership odds.
Top 20 would be nice CR as I need some help with pick 16 and would like to know who you are planning to take at #17. For the record, if he were available at pick 4 Master de Goey would not be joining the Incorrigibles. A young D/F from the weagles whose surname starts with Mc would currently be our pick (assuming he had not already gone in the first three). BTW, thank you very much for the thought put into this, when I started to do same it was so flaky. Kind of Brayshaw at three if not gone already, then Petracca .... and then injury struck. Yours was so decisive.

I can however say with some level of certainty that Mr Petracca will slip past my pick if he is still around at Pick 3. I have a couple of other players in mind there - one a new draftee, one a FA who impressed in key positions in the second half of last year. Of course, all that could again change I guess.
Love the work Chief & really appreciate the input.....its going to be a fun draft that's for sure. Petracca's injury to me, pushes him back to 3-6 pick now I think. He's too good...but he has slipped from #1. Brayshaw M, Paddy McCartin F, Stef Martin R, Cockatoo M, McGovern D, Marchbank D......all think I could go before him now. Certainly Bray/McCartin/Stef/McGovern I think is the top 4. If any reach 10 they'd be mine in a heartbeat. Cockatoo is tearing it up, and Marchbank has that lovely Def status we all need so much, in a team that needs its defense....I think it pushes them both up. Heeney has knee tendinitis.....(at that age??) so I think that pushes him into the 8-12 range. I don't know, he could be included in those mentioned above as well, but certainly not before Brayshaw, McCartin, Stef & McGov. The next 'batch' could go in any order: Ahern F (hope he slides), Pickett F/M is a def top top 10, Goddard F/D is also a top 10, DeGoey M pie boy, Duggan M, Lever D is getting higher I think with his preseason training news, as is Wigg - best left footer in the draft, not to mention Laverde/Langford...the Essendon boys with big wraps who may HAVE to play to fill the team out.Darcy Moore at 10 to me would be bloody nice for sure..... Outside of McGov, smokey FA's (non draft players) have to be Crisp F/M, Cheney D, Edwards F/M, Ben Brown R, Ceglar R to go top 15......who all can help teams from the get go, especially the rucks.
The thing about having perhaps 3 FAs finding their way high up into the draft and among the top 12-15 picks is that it means that everyone else is bumped down the order. All of a sudden picks in the 20s and 30s can uncover and absolute wildcard. Snoz - you named a few very decent FA options, I've got another half dozen in mind on top of those that could, with all justification, go in the top 35-40 picks. This means there's going to be some treasure in the second and third rounds. For mine, the top 10 has to include: McCartin (well ahead of projections right now, doing very well), Brayshaw, Petracca despite the injury, Heeney (if you are going to have confidence in any team managing injuries and young players, Sydney would be one such team), Cockatoo, Lever, the young Carlton player whose name I can't spell, Stef Martin, McGovern, maybe Moore, De Goey, Marchbank ..... There's 12 right there and that's before we cover Pickett, Wright, and another dozen or more players. It is definitely going to be a fun draft. Looks like I have some competition on my hands for some of the FA's I'd usually target!!! One other thing I've noticed with the trading and pick swapping - reckon this league is really evening up. The gap between top and bottom, or even teams 4-14 has definitely closed.
I'm not sure where to put this, so I thought I'd bung it in here as it is trade/draft related albeit for another league. So everyone knows, I've been approached to be the caretaker manager/coach of a team in the ORFFL due to the absence of the team's coach. At the moment, it appears that I'll be taking on those duties as the coach of the team has not re-appeared and delistment deadline is tomorrow (and draft starts on Friday). So, this is not a permanent arrangement, but just one to help out and make sure that the processes the ORFFL goes through at this time of year can continue. Similar to what happened here in the period before the lovely Jen took over the Lilacs, where we had a caretaker step in. Just so everyone knows. I'll obviously be on the site here more often, so if anyone wishes to respond or send an offer through, continue to do so. In the meantime, I might have to get my draft cap on on Friday given I may well be drafting with the first pick.
I'd be staggered if McGov D, Ceglar R, Crisp F/M, Crozier F, Membrey F, Gleeson M don't go top 15...that's 6 FA's right there. Following that, add in Ben Brown R, Cheney D, Lobb R, Taberner F, Newton M. Lowden R, Edwards F/M who should all go anywhere from 10-30. There are so many more FAs this year than any draft before (I think). At the least, the 13 listed, except for 2 more I'm keeping to myself, should all go top 30.
