You beat me to it EE. Tried to post my write-up last night but the website was down. In their 4th home game of the season, the Crocs capitulated to the Gropers 1078 to 1246 in a 168 point loss. Clearly the Crocs partied too hard after their solid effort last week. The Crocs only win was in defence, where Garland and Talia held firm with another 100+ score each. Granted, the Gropers only had 2 playing defenders in Hurley and former Croc Taylor. The Gropers won it in the centre and off the bench. Fyfe led the way with 145 and was ably supported by A Swallow (103) as well as Shuey and Duncan. Ryder smashed new recruit Lycett (109 to 60) in the ruck and poor efforts from Cow Bay's Ceglar and Honeychurch just didn't match the bench of Gaff and Shuey. At the Pre-game ANZAC Commemoration Dinner, unfortunately 3 of their players came down with food poisoning, known here as 'Banchang Belly'. and were unable to take the field for the Vikings the following day. This also didn't help them in their quest to rape and pillage the locals after the game either, something Vikings are well known for. With 3 players missing, and coming up against the improving Barcrawlers, their task was not an easy one. The game turned out to be a low scoring affair, mostly due to the amount of travel both teams had to endure in the previous week. None of the forwards from both teams were able to fire with the Vikings' Ziebell (80) and Salem (79) being the best. Banchang's best came from the midfield where Swallow (103) Selwood (84) and Hodge (81) were much too strong for the lone hand played by Vandenberg (109) with Adams (100) off the Interchange who also performed well in his 1st game back from injury for the Barcrawlers. Unfortunately the Vikings also lost young Heeney (7) to injury halfway through the game, but Grundy (91) in the ruck tried his best to help his team over the line. McGovern (93) down back had another good game for the Barcrawlers as did Suckling with 80. At the Pre-game ANZAC Commemoration Dinner, unfortunately 3 of their players came down with food poisoning, known here as 'Banchang Belly'. and were unable to take the field for the Vikings the following day. This also didn't help them in their quest to rape and pillage the locals after the game either, something Vikings are well known for. With 3 players missing, and coming up against the improving Barcrawlers, their task was not an easy one. The game turned out to be a low scoring affair, mostly due to the amount of travel both teams had to endure in the previous week. None of the forwards from both teams were able to fire with the Vikings' Ziebell (80) and Salem (79) being the best. Banchang's best came from the midfield where Swallow (103) Selwood (84) and Hodge (81) were much too strong for the lone hand played by Vandenberg (109) with Adams (100) off the Interchange who also performed well in his 1st game back from injury for the Barcrawlers. Unfortunately the Vikings also lost young Heeney (7) to injury halfway through the game, but Grundy (91) in the ruck tried his best to help his team over the line. Really looking forward to MSD and back end of the year, I have no doubt once I can field a team we will be super competitive. Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,195 def by Gisborne Grenades 1,212 ANZAC round was always going to be a tough round. Both teams were looking for their second win. The Prairie Dogs had some sensational performances from Smith who collected the ball at will to Shiels the star of the game to lock and loaded gun Ward ripped it up all day. Solid games from Spurr, Mitchell and Yeo in their quest for a win. Waite bounced back from last week's shocker which was great to see. However for every positive there was a negative, Sandilands got hammered, Jack and Hawkins were tagged and held all day with Green wearing the snot vest and came on in the last quarter. The Grenades had a more evenly spread performances. Seedsman took out the Diggers medal for bravest on ground. Maric smashed it all game and Riewoldt, Koby Stevens, McVeigh and Grundy put in solid days at the office. Lake was subbed out earlier, Neale had gone cold and Ambrose was inefficient. The other Grenades including Casboult, Jaensch and Hill put in valuable contributions. All in all it was the consistency that got the Grenades across the line at Dinosaur Park.
