The trip to Banchang didn't start too well for the visiting Vikings. At the Pre-game ANZAC Commemoration Dinner, unfortunately 3 of their players came down with food poisoning, known here as 'Banchang Belly'. and were unable to take the field for the Vikings the following day. This also didn't help them in their quest to rape and pillage the locals after the game either, something Vikings are well known for. With 3 players missing, and coming up against the improving Barcrawlers, their task was not an easy one. The game turned out to be a low scoring affair, mostly due to the amount of travel both teams had to endure in the previous week. None of the forwards from both teams were able to fire with the Vikings' Ziebell (80) and Salem (79) being the best. Banchang's best came from the midfield where Swallow (103) Selwood (84) and Hodge (81) were much too strong for the lone hand played by Vandenberg (109) with Adams (100) off the Interchange who also performed well in his 1st game back from injury for the Barcrawlers. Unfortunately the Vikings also lost young Heeney (7) to injury halfway through the game, but Grundy (91) in the ruck tried his best to help his team over the line. McGovern (93) down back had another good game for the Barcrawlers as did Suckling with 80. After the game, the Vikings were treated to the traditional barcrawl 'up the strip' and the next morning they boarded their flight and headed off back to Perth. Best Player 3. Vandenberg 109 (NV) 2. Swallow 103 (BB) 1. Adams 100 (BB)

I like this game, for the simple fact that Nuytsland may have eclipsed GISBORNE for the lowest score in FU history. Does anyone know how few points it was the Grenades scored round 1 last year? Whatever it was, it's safe to say that myself and Bryzza are building our teams slowly, starting at the bottom so that the only way is up :D Grenades scored 779 in round 1 last year but the old Manangatang has already outdone that with a 756 and a pitiful 626 in the final round.

King Island 1361 def Coolgardie 1072 The Monarchs are relishing not having to travel for the first 4 weeks of the year, this week taking revenge on the Prospectors for last season's round 1 defeat. For the first time this year the Monarchs midfield fired as a group, led by new skipper Boak. New recruit Bell was powerful again across half forward and showed he can hit the scoreboard. Inconsistent performances across the rest of the team saw the Monarchs fail to hit 1400 for the first time this season. Already a man down following the withdrawal of MacMillan, the Prospectors hopes of an away win were cruelled by the early injury to first-gamer Drummond. A shining light for the visitors was the efforts of their new recruit Stef Martin who came off the bench to be clearly the best of the 4 ruckmen in the match. Votes: Boak 3, Bell 2, Martin 1

Final Score Groote Eylandt (Barracudas) 1,313 def Ararat (Armadillos) 1,289

On this day let us remember the fallen, let us remember the ANZAC's.

The ANZAC round for the Cuda's started very slowly in the contest against the visiting Armadillos who were not to be discounted even though they had caught the injury bug.

The defensive line was as solid as ever with Murphy the veteran starring down back with 25 possessions underpinning his toughness. Alongside him was Burgoyne and Firrito who this week lifted picking up a gutsy 15 touches. Sutcliff had an ordinary day however in the switch ups he managed to sneak a goal through.

The boys in the middle continued to perform; leading the way was the on fire Hannebery with 31 possessions as he dominated through the centre. Ticking away was Gibbs and Cotchin putting together 23 and 24 disposals standing up in attack. Not only did Gibbs have plenty of the pill but he also slotted through a couple of majors just for good measure. Young Cunnington was locked down most of the afternoon by his opposite however he was still able to collect 20 odd possessions.

Up in front of the sticks the forward line had mixed results once again. Bontempelli was back in after suffering a calf injury in which he was omitted last week. He cracked a beauty as he crumbed the ball and shared it around in picking up his 17 possessions. Stanley was a concern earlier in the week but he was right to go game day with 14 touches. Zorko had a reasonable day on the park with his 20 disposals however he was unable to put the sherrin through the big white sticks. Cripps of the Jamie kind however was on fire pushing up hard with plenty of run kicking a goal on the back of a shocking bounce.

Lewis put in another gun performance as he racked up 36 possessions for the day as he evaded traffic on and off the field. Guthrie was solid in the contests off the wing and up forward, snapping truly late in the final quarter.

Young Patrick Cripps once again came in and chopped out in ruck, his extraordinary performance was the difference in the home team finishing with a win over the reigning premiers. This kid can do it all including grabbing 33 possessions and banging through an important goal in the third quarter to sway the momentum back in the Cuda's favour.

Emerging from the race the visitors came to play, the reigning premiers shot out of the blocks with Wingard kicking the first goal of the game. Not to be out done young gun Dahlhaus racked them up with 27 touches and booting a goal as well, while Edward put another 2 on for the visitors as he piled on the kms through the forward fifty. The same couldn't be said for young Broomhead who was held hard for 10 touches.

Stevens moved well all day and in the ANZAC spirit dug deep for his 16 possessions. Last year's rising star couldn't get it on and was left wondering. Through the centre Treloar was on fire for the visitors racking up the disposals 27 in all and Vince was in support across the ground with 20 possessions. Cross pushed for his touches however efficiency let him down in getting his disposals away. Lumumba went back to old habits and spudded it up through the midfield.

Jamar was handy to start with and got his hands on the pill plenty of times but once again the efficiency wasn't there to make best use of the ball for his team mates.

The visitors had solid performances from Hibberd and McDonald as they both had some excellent run off of half back. Hibberd collecting 27 possessions was a highlight down back. Sheppard had good use of the ball when he got to it and young McKenzie was unable to get his hands on the sherrin enough for a sub standard performance.

It was a game for either side to win, perhaps having a home ground advantage and Patty Cripps going ballistic was all that was needed.

At quarter time in Coolgardie the visiting Barcrawlers are off to an absolute flyer. The locals haven't even gotten out on the park, while the boys from Banchang have already got 415 points on the board, from 5 players, at an average of 83. Lets hope the Prospectors can get out on the park soon enough, and start clawing back.

Half time (after the Q clash) at Flying Fish Cove Park and the Smugglers have their noses in front 670/8 (83.8) to the Crocs 603/9 (67). Some good performances across the ground so far for Xmas Island with Harbrow (105), Redden (115) and Martin (113) forming a centurion spine down the ground. young gun Jack Martin has been the shining light for the crocs with a couple of goals and 106 points. With some heavy hitters still to come for Cow Bay, and an OOP ruck for the Smugglers a second half come-back is on the cards.

At 6/9th time in Coolgardie and the Barcrawlers maintain their lead, only by the fact that they've almost run their race! The boys from Banchang have 1064 points on the board, but with 14 of their 15 players already scoring, the average is a rather woeful 76. There's only Michael Walters left in the forwardline to bring some respectability back to their scorecard. On the other side of the coin the home-town Prospectors are now up and flying. There's 710 points on the board (or a 354 point deficit), but with only 7 of 15 players having taken the field, the average is an impressive 101.4. Its really only the North boys letting the side down, being the only two scores less than 100 points (with 85 to Petrie and 81 to Macmillan). Currently its Stefan leading the way for Coolgardie, with 125 points, followed by Mummy on 107, 105 apiece for JPK and Touk, and 102 for Dickson! So far so good. The biggest news of all though is the fact that Myke Pike (yes, that was deliberate) pipped the Mummy by a measly two points 109 to 107. This'll be Mummy's first loss in the 2015 giant tap. Clearly the Fosters had something to do with it for the man from Canada. Stay tuned to see if the Prospectors can storm home to take the choccies, or if the CarBrawlers can lock this one out with a miracle defensive effort. [IMG]

The Sandgropers have built a healthy lead at home 914/10/91 against the visiting Grenades 695/9/77. With 2 OOP defenders to come the Southern Cross locals will be hoping their team can hang on for the win. On a side note Hoskin-Elliott's debut was most uninspiring netting the team a whopping 3 points.

Slow start from both teams out in Paky. Blanche have gotten away to a nice lead, Pendles dominating and solid scores have Blanche ahead on avg. Paky 534 after 7. Blanchetown 504 after 5 should be an interesting finish, with the home team having all the work to do

7/9th of the way through the first match in anger in Coolgardie for 2015 and the visiting Banchang Barcrawlers have packed up and gone in for an early shower, with all 15 players having taken the field for a total of 1080 or average of 72.0 each. This is well below the team average thus far this season, and they should be rightfully disappointed. Meanwhile the home-team Coolgardie Prospectros aren't making the huge comeback that everyone expected, with 9 players down the team is on 812, at an average of 90.2 each. The local fans are getting excited, as they can feel something special coming on, in anticipation of the first home win for the boys in their first home game of 2015. Car'n Prospectors!

Game over at Groper Park and the home team has prevailed 1251/15/83 against the visiting Grenades 1194/15/80, taking their record to 3 wins & 2 losses. There were some shaky moments with 3 players, Hoskin-Elliott 3,Acres (oop) 11 andCameron (oop) 14 doing their best to hand the visitors a win, however 6 tons from the leaders got the team over the line. 628 v 786 both teams have 5 players remaining but the Whalers have two extra players coming of the bench, will be close for the Vikings in there 1st home game Vikings 969 Whalers 1079 For the first home game of the year Vikings put in a spirited performance. We got beaten convincingly in the back line but had some encouraging efforts with Grimes first game back for the year. Whalers Henderson and Wood had a cracking game but Trengove being subbed late gave Vikings a sniff. Vikings midfield was thrown a lifeline when Robinson put in the highest score but the numbers were to great as we were on players short. Grundy has been in red hot form which clearly scared Leuenberger as he didnt get on the park so Grundy smashed out another 100+ Vikings forwards troubled the Whalers as we had all winners in the 50m arc we were hitting the score board and leading the game but then Eden Whalers threw on there interchange players with Crisp killing it with 115 so seal the win. Hard fought game and looking forward to the return bout.

...and the Prospectors have decided to join the Barcrawlers in the pub after a first-up home win. After the boys from Banchang shot out of the blocks, the local fans got behind their team to cheer them home in a rousing performance. The locals scoring 1244 / 15 / 82.9 against the visitors 1080 / 15 / 72.0 for a 164 point win. Best on ground goes to the Prospectors Brad Ebert, with 136 points. His 31 disposals and 7 tackles showed that when he didn't have the ball he was willing to put in the hard yards to get it back. Ebert was followed by teammate and new recruit Stefan Martin, who has been a resounding success after being picked up in the PSD, with 42 hitouts and 24 disposals resulting in 125 points. Leading the CarBrawlers, and the bronze medal winner in the match was forward Taylor Adams, who only slotted one goal, but got his hands on the pill 27 times while running through the midfiled. The big news was in the center circles, with Mummy's 28 hitout and 8 tackle performance bringing him back into form for 107 points. He was however pipped by a measly two points, as a steroid-ridden (or Fosters-ridden) Canadian pulled down 109 points. The big man Mike Pyke didn't do much around the ground, with only 2 kicks and 3 tackles to his name, but a monster 59 hitouts showed his complete dominance of the game. The fans are livid that their bigman got himself back into form with a fantastic home-ground performance, yet was still pipped by the Banchang monster in the race for the Giant Tap. We'll all enjoy a few quite ones and discuss the performances of relative players. Pyke was better than Mummy on the day, but the locals are still going to be painting the town blue and gold all week in celebration of the win that can hopefully turn the season around for the Mighty Prospectors. Good luck to both teams next week... [IMG]

Looks like the Puppy Dogs won in what will be described as a titanic tussle of a game by 7 points. Post match review will issued soon.

The visiting Buyips have given the Parasites a bath. The home fans witnessed an absolutely outstanding effort from the away team with a massive score of 1537. Way to much for an underperforming pakenham team to handle. Blanchetown had tons scored by 7 players with Pendles, Mayne and Arms doing the damage. The bunyips are looking strong again this year. Pakenham are hoping to get back to full strength soon with some better scores then we are dishing up now. Final scores Blanchetown 1537 Pakenham 1189 Votes: 3. Pendles 2. Mayne 1. Armitage

The Smugglers have chalked up their second win of the season, accounting for the Bulls 1192-1052. Gunston was the star for the visitors racking up a game high 135 to drag the Bulls into the lead. Unfortunately he didn't get enough support from his team mates as Hamish Hartlett's even 100 saw CIFC home. As they say in the classics 'defence wins matches' and that was certainly the case here with the Smugglers back four outpointing their opposition by 34 points per man, 347-212. The Smugglers will be hoping to have new recruits Deledio and Kreuzer available for selection next week as they look to recover from a slow start to the year. BAFFU 3: J. Gunston (CBC) - 135 2: J. Redden (CIS) - 115 1: D. Martin (CIS) - 113
