Apologies for no updates... but the Bulls have held off a determined Cow Bay by 83to post win number two for the year. In a scrappy match at a soggy Mill Park it was the Bulls defence and forwards which got the job done. Special mention to CrocJeremy Cameron who booted 7 in a dominate display. The Bulls tried their best to lose this starting Bastinac with the green vest and subbing out McEvoy half way through, throw in Toumpas and the Bulls were 3 / 86. Cameron, Gunston, Beams and Sculy battled hard for the Crocs but it wasn't enough and some of the bulls lesser lights in Jetta & Reid sawthem home. Assuming I can add up properly (and I've seen that I've already made a couple of mistakes this weekend), the visiting Gisborne Grenades have completely pasted the home-town Coolgardie Prospectors. With two donuts in the side, the Grenades still managed an impressive 1442 points, at an average of 96.1, in a matter of 'what could have been'. They didn't quite have the points on the bench to top the record of a couple of weeks ago, but with 9 tons in the side, it was an impressive effort. The home side also munched on a donut, but had no way of covering it, and stumbled to 1170 points, at an average of 78.0. In the giant Tap, Mummy has been beaten again, by Maric's 123 points, made worse by the fact that last week Maric spudded it up, and last weeks' conqueror Pyke spudded it up this week. This game is simply unfair! The big scores rained down in this game, with Prospectors recruit Stefan Martin top scoring with 145 points. A close second was the visiting Jack Billings on 143, after booting a bazillion goals in the comeback game of the round! Thirdly was home-town hero JP Kennedy, on 135 points. A measure of just how close it was at the top end, next up were Lachie Neale and Allen Christensen on 133 points each, local maligned forward Drew Petrie on 131 points, and the much-more-maligned forward Levi Casboult on 127 points. Ofcourse to counter this, there was Jack Watts on his killer 18 points, and the three donuts! Votes: 3 - Stefan martin - Coolgardie - 145 2 - Jack Billings - Gisborne - 143 1 - Josh P. Kennedy - Coolgardie - 135.
The Smugglers have run down Blanchetown in a close one - 1354 to 1305. The win keeps CIFC's perfect start at home intact and extends their winning run over the Bunyips to 3-0. The teams entered the final quarter neck and neck, and a huge effort from Robbie Gray (143) had the visitors in sight of victory. However, four of the final five Smugglers (Judd, Hartlett, Redden and LeCras) hit the ton to see the locals safely home. BAFFU 1: Tippett (CIS), Gray (BB) - 143 - can't remember how a tie is split. 3: Armitage (BB) - 134.
Well, the Sandgropers have taken the inaugural Groper Nuyts Cup with an 1159/77 to 1052/75 win, the game would have been much closer if the visitors were able to field a full team. There were plenty of spuds on both sides with new recruit Hoskin-Elliot turning in an underwhelming 3/4 performance scoring just 18 points. A 34 from McDonald and 32 from Kennedy just added to the lowest score for the Sandgropers in their last 10 games. These performances weren't limited to the home team with Bugg (32), Crouch (33) and Heeney (41) helping to keep the match competitive. At the other end of the scale Mitch Duncan backed up last week's 140 with a huge 153, he was ably supported in the midfield by Fyfe (121), Shuey (104) and by Sheed (100)coming off the bench for the first ton of his career. Mitchell (125) scored well in his second match of the season, with Salem (117) finding some form and Ziebell (102) even managed to stay on the park for 4 quarters. The forwards for the home team were distinctly average with none of them able to score higher than 80. In the giant tap battle, youngster Grundy (87) continued on his winning ways taking Ryder (78) out and moving to 5 & 1 on the leader board. Still, Southern Cross are delighted with the win, taking them to 4 & 2 and most importantly 3 wins from the last 3 games when resources have been stretched incredibly thin in defence. Next week sees the Sandgropers travel to Pakenham for the Battle of the Bugs, with the opportunity to change some players around the club will be hopeful of another win. BAFFU 3 - M.Duncan 2 - T.Mitchell 1 - N.Fyfe *Best of all an undermanned West Coast busted the 'flat track bully' tag by beating a nearfull strength Power side at Adelaide oval. Taking a big scalp away from home (heck anywhere) has been rare in the last 3 seasons, truly a win to savour!

Pity that it could have been 1500s but I obviously can't read the teams list. Cheers for the write up JPK

Really need Schulz and co to up their game! Another win for Big Sauce though, that's something!

Full Time here at the Eden sporting complex and the Whalers extend the winning streak to 3 defeating Pakenham 1343 to 1156. It was a star-studded game with 10 players topping the 100, 6 for Eden and 4 for Pakenham, the midfielders for both sides made this game their own with Murphy being the only one scoring under 95, Goddard starred for Pakenham scoring 135 to narrowly take the 2 from Pav while Beams and Barlow scored 111 and 116 respectively. While the Whalers definitely showed a glimpse of what's to come with Miles getting BOG with 30 touches and 149 points, Wood also played well scoring 126, the forward line really took the points though with Boomer, Pav and Lynch scoring 119, 134 and 113 respectively. Leuenberger still struggling in the ruck with 35 but at least he held Bellboy to only 63. All in all, great effort from the boys earning their first ever top 8 spot. Final Score Groote Eylandt (Barracudas) 1,186 def by King Island (Monarchs) 1,312 Taking on the league leaders was an imposing task on the weekend and it was met with mixed performances across the ground. The defensive line struggled from the outset with the leader of the pack Murphy recording his lowest disposals of just 15. Firrito put in a sturdy game collecting 14 possessions with a high effective rate. Sutcliffe picked up plenty of sherrin with 21 disposals. Burgoyne rebounded from last week's dismal performance to be the stand out back man racking up 31 possessions as heran throughthe middle time and time again. It was a tough day at the office for the boys in the middle with Gibbs answering his critics collecting the pill 23 times as he tried to lead the way for the Cuda's. Cotchin collected 28 possessions but effectiveness was terrible. Hannebery was tagged very heavily and was locked down for his 18 disposals. Cunnington spudded it up leaving turds all over the ground. In his second game back Nicholls put in a solid game and he had plenty of hit-outs and was narrowly beating on the day. With Lewis being suspended young Patty Cripps got another run on the paddock in which he took the opportunity and carved it up across the field collecting 18 disposals and booting a goal for good measure. Guthrie followed were he could and put in a solid effort. Up forward Zorko was locked up with no were to go and could only manage 11 possessions. Lloyd was quiet after a big night on the turps however Cripps of the Jamie variety picked up 10 possessions and bagged 2 goals. The beautiful Bontempelli starred in the trencheswith his 15 disposals but it wasn't enough in another loss at home to be 3/3 after round 6. The Monarchs were keen as muster and full of confidence heading into the game. Defensively Broadbent and Rance picked up 12 and 16 possessions as they played a lock down role on their oppositions. Houli had a good performance with 19 touches however Thurlow lead the charge deep in the back pocket with 30 disposals and was on target with his boot. Through the centre the visitors were very solid with Macrae and Scotty Thompson around the centre bounces. Boak got it going with 23 possessions and slotting 1 though early in the piece. Priddis the gun ran all day, disposals of 31 by foot and hand even bagging one for himself. Young Spencer put in a good performance on a ground he knew well collecting 10 touches, Zaharakis underperformed in his role off the wing only managing 13 disposals. In ruck, Naitanui had a great tussle and just got there at the end of the day. It was in front of the sticks that the visitors were the most damaging. Kennedy of the JJ kind grabbed 14 touches and snuck 1 through. Big Tex marked and kicked the sherrin through the white sticks 4 times and not to be out done Betts booted 5 goals. It just rained goals for the visitors which just showed the footy community how it's done. Tommy Bell chipped in with 2 goals but it was his slick 27 disposals that made him best on ground in a dominating performance. On my way to Etihad to watch Norf v Druggendon, should be a good night. Hopefully see Brad Scott have a sook & Jab Watson cry!
At 1/9th time in Coolgardie its the home-town Prospectors 289 / 4 / 72.3 leading the visiting Nuytsland Vikings 172 / 2 / 86. Both Petrie and Ziebell are leading the way with 116 apiece.
At 3/9th time in Coolgardie, the visiting Vikings have got their noses ahead of the locals, 453 / 7 / 64.7 against 355 / 5 / 71.0 Petrie and Ziebell continue to lead the way. Injuries and poor performances appear to have cruelled both sides, with Salem and VDB both failing miserably for the Vikings, with 16 and 37 points respectively, and a series of 60-odd scores scattered over the park for the Prospectors. Returning Prospector Cam Pedersen was left on the bench and OOP with 111 points (or 55.5 if he comes on field), leaving coach JPK nonchalant, with the 'happy problem' of fielding the wrong players this week - finally!
Just finished watching West Coast smash Gold Coast from a pub in Melbourne. By my calculations the Sandgropers are leading the Parasites on average. A win against the preseason flag favourites would be great, still a fair way to go though.
After watching the Mighty Eagles pummel the hapless Suns for three quarters, and then just kill time in the final quarter, I'm also happy to see my ORFFU team doing pretty good. At 6/9th time the visiting Vikings still hold the lead on aggregate, but with only two scoring players to come they're likely to be run over by the home team Prospectors.
Half time at Flying Fish Cove Park and it's the visiting Whalers with a slight lead 646-605 with both teams having 7 players to come. This one looks like coming down to a clash of forwards with Dusty and Lids versus Pav and Crisp.
