The inaugural season of the ORFFF is just a few days away! The draft is done, trades have been made and some coaches are already facing the prospect of season ending injuries and retirements. It was clear in the draft that some coaches had immediate plans for success whilst others were drafting for the longer term. The following predictions have been put together by rating teams individual lines (Def, Mid, Ruc, Fwd, Int, Overall) as well as assessing the age profile for each side. These have been placed into a magic formula which has generated the following predictions for 2016. Note: I didn’t have enough time to access the depth of each squad – this will have a big impact on who takes home the biscuits this year! So without further ado I present to you: Tyze’s predictions and musings for the Inaugural season of the ORFFF 1 Chinchilla Rated Excellent & Good across the board! Has Choppers learned from the ORFFU Draft and find immediate success in the FF? 2 Cockburn Rated Excellent in 5 categories however will the forwards let Len down? Will contend 3 Useless Loop Rated Excellent in 4 categories, paper thin down back with the shock retirement of Jaensch is this the Virgins Achilles heel? Bring on the MSD! 4 Rutherglen Rated Excellent in 2 categories and Good in 4 others. Can Ceglar hold up in the ruck with Ryder in rehab for 2016? 5 Dingo Beach Excellent in Def, Fwd & Ruc. Can Insider's mids offer the fwds enough of the pill to contend? 6 Jan Juc Third oldest squad, can the 30 pluses propel Jan Juc to a flag? 7 Maralinga Can Big Boy McEvoy stay on the park? Will be looking for some big improvements from their young mids. They hold the key to success for Damo. 8 Mt Thirsty Have drafted for quick success clearly the oldest squad in the FF. Rated Excellent in the Mids, Fwds and Int, however skinny down back... can Lobbe step up in the ruck? 9 Port Lincoln Right in the mix for the 8. Does Mrs Bear have enough grunt in the Mids and Fwds? 10 Black Swamp Second oldest squad will success be TTHs? Again they are right in the mix for the 8. Rates excellent across 2 categories however Fair and Poor across 4 others. Are the tall fwds Bruce & Brown going to kick on in 2016? 11 Drouin No obvious weaknesses in the squad and again will be fighting for a spot in the lower 8. Mumford is key, Stowie perhaps doesn’t haven’t the midfield depth to cover any injuries to Danger or Steven. 12 Wedge Island Super consistent in that they rate Fair to Good across all Lines. Third youngest squad in the FF (perhaps skewed somewhat by Boomer!). Perhaps not 2016 but Wedge Island are coming 13 Neptune Island Can a young and talented midfield group improve enough in 2016? Could be a surprise packet. 14 Mole Creek Second youngest squad. Cripps is a gun and Heeney will be, however Mole Creeks best players in Ablett and Martin are in their later years. Can they help develop the kids? Let’s check back in 1 to 2 years. Again have the ability to surprise. 15 Heard Island Can Fyfe drag the squad along in 2016? Too many questions for mine especially up front. Let’s check back in at the end of the year. The squad has time on its side. 16 Walpole Babies, just learning to walk. Based on 2015 rate Poor across the board. Heppell is a massive out for the year. One to watch out for in the future Some will feel aggrieved by these predictions, others had their tyres pumped up but as it stands we’re all square and no one has their nose in front. Good Luck coaches in 2016!
Cheers @tyze1 I suspect that Jan Juc (@thokash) will also be giving the comp a big shake this year (and beyond) and also think that Port Lincoln (@MrsBear) will definitely crack the 8 and top 4 would not surprise me at all
based on the above preview Neptune Island @, Drouin and Mole Creek appear to be the bolters 10 rounds into the 2016 season while Mt Thirsty and Rutherglen appear to be major surprises in the bottom 4 there is plenty of footy left to be played and a massive draft and trade period to come before we see exactly how well @tyze1 has nailed the predictions but #1 Chinchilla is sitting very nicely in the top 4 at the minute
