Preliminary Final Baracudas are 1,274/15 84.5 to the Panthers 1,136/15 75.7 There was certainly some ups and downs this round, match report to come soon.
Great tight and see sawing contest with the Monarchs vs the Armadillos. Scraped by to make the grand final against a fearsome barracuda side
Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1,287 def Pearcedale Panthers 1,156 Come on down spinner, it’s ORFFU prelimination finals time. The Barracuda’s are hosting the Panthers for a place in the Grand Final. The last time these two teams meet was round 9 in which the Panther gave the Barracuda’s a lesson in how to smash your opponent. With the home ground advantage, the Barracuda’s will be looking to turn the tables on coach TigersTooTough. On paper both teams are very evenly matched however the visitors don’t care about what’s on paper as they’ve turned up to the paddock stealth like as the Panthers gauged they pray. It didn’t start the way the visitors wanted with Caddy down with the man flu so Weller stepped up with a solid performance. Parker lead the way in the middle however Hunter and Ellis just did enough to keep their heads above water. Not helping matters Lobbe was short sheeted in the big tap with an another under performance. It was a tale two kinds of footy from the city of Casey. Down back Shaw and Savage did the heavy lifting and were instrumental in locking down the home sides forward line. Unfortunately, Smith was concussed when he went backwards into a marking contest early in the second quarter and Kolodjashnij had a snooze on the park bench. There were some monster efforts from Howe the high flyer whose anticipation, leap and closing speed was on show and Daniel who booted 2 goals and had 23 disposals. On the other side of the coin Thomas couldn’t find the pill if it was painted bright fluro yellow and Towers gave up too easily double teamed. Off the interchange Mundy had his head in the clouds as he looked lost on the paddock whilst Gibson felt the heavy tag of the local and it wasn’t pretty. For the Barracuda’s Cripps of the Patrick kind flexed his muscles and crashed through anything or anyone that got in his way as he collected 30 disposals. Bouncing off his lead Hanna’s and the Bont trailed blazed heating up the midfield. Stanley put in a solid game flying the home side colours. Lewis man handled the opposition and Cotchin guided his troops to be one step ahead all day. Dea and Frawley played the tagging role this week while young Weitering feed the pigskin to Burger like cookie monster getting stuck into lunch. In the forward half the Magnificent Zorko disappeared to everyone’s surprise. Cripps of the Jamie variety put in a sterling effort, Everritt was back and was about 80% and Jong continued to build with the pressure on he took it all in his stride pumping out 20 disposals and even slotting one for himself. For the visiting Panthers their finals champagne has come to an end for 2016 as they’ll take stock of their up and down season. For the Barracuda’s they enter the last dance of season up against the Armadillo’s who have only dropped 2 games all year and will go into the Grannie as favourites. In the short history of the ORFFU the Armadillo’s became the inaugural premieres while the Barracuda’s will be looking to go back-to-back as last year premieres. What is guaranteed is that this time next week one of these teams will have 2 flags to their name.
Good luck to @insider and his Ararat Armadillos, and @YAD69 and his Groote Eylandt Barracudas, in the 2016 ORFFU Grand Final.
Thanks mate appreciate it. Should be a high scoring affair with any luck. Ive missed the previews and 3rd party analysis for this years finals series. Reckon we've been spoilt with the superb work of regular culprits Damo, Fresh & Holky providing opinion and analysis! Good luck to DD and Tyze in the other final!
Here goes nothing: Rich T.McDonald Cutler Saad (L.McDonald) Vince Steven Smith Treloar Gawn Taylor Wells Dahlhaus Edwards (Tomlinson) Gibbs Parish (Hallahan) Best of luck Yad my good man
Cuda's team for the Grand Final against the Armadillo's: D - Burgoyne, Dea, Frawley, Weitering, (Firrito) M - Hanners, P Cripps, Bont, Guthrie, (Lloyd) R - Stanley (Giles) F - Zorko, J Cripps, Jong, Phillips I/C - Lewis, Cotchin (Cunnington) There was much discussion and banging heads on team set up with Everitt being omitted. Selection committee has gone with youth and form for the big dance up against an unchanged side from their opponents who start favourites. Best of luck @insider dude.
sorry gents in previous years I have managed to get some previews happening - just didn't happen this year, bring on 2017! Good luck to the grand finalists, Ararat have been the front runner all year but the Cuda's are making their run down the straight this should be a ball tearer, both sides locked at $1.90 - I'm looking forward to some multiple updates across the weekend.
