Congrats @YAD69 and the Cudas, like a true stayer timed his run to perfection.
For the rest of us coaches - time to start plotting to avoid a three peat!
    Cue - Post season trading!

    Grand Final 2016 - ORRFU
Ararat Armadillo’s 1,311 def by Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1,454

As it should be the minor premiers Ararat Armadillo’s up against the Groote Eylandt Barracudas who finished second.

The Armadillo’s start off favourites as they have been the inform team all year only dropping two matches, they averaged 1,300+ during the regular season and 1,355 in the finals series especially with big Max Gawn, Treloar and ex-Cuda Gibbs. The Barracuda’s are one up in the mind games with a 6-point win during the regular season on the minor premiers. They have also had the depth in the club to continue to snatch some vital wins especially with some of their newer recruits in Dea, Weitering, Jong and Phillips.

The Armadillo’s defence didn’t disappoint, leading the way T Mac was sensational with his efficiency, Rich snuck up forward and booted a goal, young Cutler picked up 27 possessions and Saad was solid. From the centre big bad boy Gawn cracked under pressure and was half the man he usually is which cascaded through to poor disposals from Weekend at Berny’s and Smith’s legs were heavy as he got caught time and time again. Jacky Steven’s was a green machine collecting 31 disposals and even snapped a goal. Heating it up was young Treloar amassing 36 touches and running through 2 goals to try and lift his midfield buddy’s.

Off the interchange young Parish dug in and showed why he was one of the top recruits this year. Man bun Gibbs received a warm welcome from his ex-team mates and he used it to his own advantage. In the forward line there was only one shining light which was Dahlhaus, young Taylor was locked down by his opponent, while Edwards chopped it up and Wells returned zero goals which stunned all that attended this grandeur event.

Defence wins games and that’s where it all started for the Barracuda’s, Burger has an uncanny way of lifting for the big games and he didn’t disappoint running freely from one bookend to another. His protégé Dea who is also looking for a contract extension gave it all and turned it on for the punters. Frawley was the muscle that kept his opponent from scoring at all and the Cuda’s prized recruit Weitering was solid.

The engine room was on fire as usual with ball magnet Cripps of the Patrick kind picking up 32 disposals, Hanna’s busted through the packs, the Bont was on song while Guthrie was solid around the packs with Stan-ley out manoeuvring in the big tap. Where it mattered was in front of the big sticks, with the magnificent Zorko back from the wherever the hell he went last week to orchestrate the forward team. The on fire Lin Jong collected 28 touches who has been a revelation, young Phillips who took the pressure well as he was thrown into the deep end for the grannie shone and Cripps of the Jamie variety cleaned up the crumbs.

Captain Cotchin once again guided his troops with his experience by showing us why he is an elite player plus kicking the pigskin through the whites sticks no less than 3 times as Lewis continued where he left off last week give it to the opposition at every opportunity and getting away with it.

For @insider Armadillo’s it was a season at the top of the table for much of the year with a very high game average on the back of the might of Gawn and should be proud as punch with the amazing efforts through out the 2016 season. For the Barracuda’s the win sees them back-to-back ORRFU premiers as they came together just at the right time of the year. It was even more of an occasion as there was some key players that were either injured or omitted that they had at the start of the year which really showed the depth of the club in the way they recruited and structured up across the field.

Mad Monday just got bigger as celebrations will flow on for days maybe even weeks to come as the locals know how to party.

@HOLKY You just need to use the "@" at the beginning of each persons name, just start typing and a small pop-up of all relevant names should appear, then select the one you want. Basically like Twitter...
