No trading through the draft, however once the draft is completed there will be. Refer Calendar of Events - Preseason Trade Period - 07 Mar 16 to 20 Mar 16. Yad
Actually if you check the rules trading IS allowed during the draft. No disputing that one. 4. TRADES (a) Preseason Trade Period opens early November until the end of January of the next year. Trading is then open during preseason draft but closes at midnight on the day the preseason draft concludes. Midseason trade period runs during the three bye rounds (see point h). How did we let that through? I'm worried we might end up with a clash of picks and trades at some point. Hopefully not, but if we stick with it as outlined then we'll have to wait and see... I'd propose we remove trading during the draft, and only have trades after the draft. There's no reason two coaches couldn't come to a "gentleman's agreement" during the draft, and make the trade as soon as the post-draft trade period opens. Having said that, its not as though we have a million trades flying through the system (I'm testament to this!!!)

I would agree with removing trading during the draft. I think it's unnecessary and has the potential to really make things messy. I don't think it was part of the original rules but was one of those changes that got put through without any vote. As always happy to go with whatever is decided.
Yes, trading through the draft is very messy and I thought it gone last year and was missed in the review. It appears the calendar and the rules are in conflict at the moment and the Board will discuss it and make a call regarding (i.e. weather trading will cease as at the last trade or continue until the 20 Mar 16.
