So I'm looking at moving on 1 of my 3 main backs. I'll put all 3 up for auction but realistically I'll only trade 1 so if I get a suitable offer, the other 2 are unlikely to be traded.

All offers will be considered but ideally I'm after an equivalent midfielder. As a guide I generally work off rankings, eg. Rance is the 7th ranked back so I'd roughly be wanting the 7th ranked mid, with age obviously taken into account.

Not interested in Grigg, bit concerned about his role with the inclusions for the tigers

Appreciate the offer but an 85 point back is worth a lot more than an 83 point mid.

pretty sure the market will determine the value of those players. Based on your logic a trade for Rance , 7th ranked midfielder is Luke Parker avg 111 and for Broadbent, 29th ranked midfielder is Trent Cotchin avg 101........tough call one i could not make

Everyone's gotta field 4 backs, so someone is fielding the 72nd ranked back. That was Barass with an ave of 70. The 72nd ranked mid was Thompson with an ave of 88. But if you don't think it matters, I'm happy to trade you Thompson for a back with an 88 ave.

Thompson was actually ranked 105th mid, all 7 of my midfielders out rank Thompson :D so no need for the ageing star.
Neville Jetta avg 68 ranked 105th def, most scenarios here looking at 15 - 20 point difference is what your asking a coach to potentially lose.

I rank my players a bit differently.
If I had the 73rd and 74th ranked midfielders at Banchang and I was lucky enough for them to be my M5 and M6, then I'd play them on the interchange and grab the 176 points on offer( using tylo's stats). But the 73rd and 74th defender would only get me 140 points, 36points worse off. So I don't rank the 72nd defender equal to the 72nd ranked midfielder, more like the 108th ranked mid (being 6 mids v 4 def). There's no right way or wrong way, that's just how I do it.

Hey each to their own, the interchange definitely needs to be factored in just not sure how relevant it is at the top end. Anyway if anyone is chasing a mid in the future and wants to give up a back or forward with a similar ave please let me know.

ps. I just get my rankings off the HS site

I agree that there is a premium to be paid for defenders & forwards, might as well put rucks in there too, but I'm more inclined to think it's a 5-10% margin at the most. Unless you have a squad player that can cover the loss of points then it's not a win/win trade. In saying that how many trades are actually win/win?
