Assuming that I can still add up properly - or look up the correct names and copy number properly - then the final scores in Coolgardie see the home-side Prospectors taking out a narrow win over the visiting Pearcedale Panthers. Final scores are 1194 / 79.6 to 1151 / 76.7.

In what was a pretty average display by both sides, only one Prospector managed to break the ton, interchange ruckman Shane Mumford, who scored 114 points, and will likely be called up for main ruck duties if Stefan Martin is still unconscious after being flattened by Steve May. Late call-up Hutchings and his 76 points were stuck on the pine, outscoring part-time midfielder in Touk (56) and full-time midfielder in Ebert (62). On the interchange, 3rd ruckman Griffin (48) had his scored doubled by bench-player Pedersen (98), which fortunately did not cost us the game. There were a few solid scores on each line, with 90+ scores coming from Fantasia, Macmillan, JP Kennedy, Westhoff, and Watts.

The visitors had only a pair of tonnes, midfielder Caddy on 112 and defender Savage on 110. Some major disappointments in H Shaw (70) and B Smith (65) down back didn't help the cause, nor did midfielders Parker (92) or B Ellis (85). Ruckman Lobbe got outscored by a concussed man, maintaining Stefan's perfect start to the year. The Panther forwardline was a disaster, with three 60's and a 75 really stunting the progress of the entire side. The interchange players were also quite poor, scoring 75 and 80 respectively. The only good sign for the visitors, if it can be seen as a good sign, is that there were no points left wanting, as the only available bench player in Howe only scored 53 points, the equal lowest of the entire side.

Giant tap points go to Stefan Martin this week, while the top three votes were all quite poor, although very close:
    3 - S Mumford, Coolgardie, 114
    2 - J Caddy, Pearcedale, 112
    1 - S Savage, Pearcedale, 110

    Pakenham v Korumburra

In what was a big game for both long time rival sporting clubs, the fans got what they were after.
It was a heated tight tough tussle from the beginning with both teams having some quality performances.
Sloane 137 and Goldy 121 tried to will the blowflys over the line but they were just outmatched across the park with the Parasites Gaff 132 leading the way.
Both teams were missing a player with Enright and Garlett being late withdrawals. It may have been a different story if the Blowflys had of fielded a full team. Coach Mick will be looking for answers from the selection committee.

Final scores Pakenham 1305 Korumburra 1236

The Bunyips home ground advantage came into play today with the home side just getting away with the win. It came down to the Bunyips outscoring the Cuda's in Defence which made all the difference. Laird's 95 (which really should have been around 125 if anyone else watched the game) outscored all others including last weeks hero Weitering.

Off season recruit Sam Mitchell continues to impress and poll well for the BOG award. The Cuda's Midfield is one of the best in the comp and on their day can knock off any team, it just wasn't this week ;)

Ziebell and Nicholls were both tied on 126 points, I assume the ruck gets the votes?

    BOG - S Mitchell - 3
    D Hannebery - 2
    T Nicholls - 1

...And then Murphy (the most recent Mick Kirkby award winner) finds a way to get the lowest score of any player but Casboult who is in the wrong position! Full credit to Neale and Hill who got the Grenades over the line. What else to say? All our good players got their average scores but there were no real standouts, good fundamentals but no highlights. A team that has lost 4 games but spent most of them looking good in theory. We are become Freo...

After heading into the contest with some level of confidence after scoring their highest weekly tally since round 18, 2014 in the previous week things never really got going for the home town Buffaloes as they were comprehensively beaten by an impressive Vikings outfit.

Inconsistencies of a young team will be the continued story at Serengeti for a while longer although Zac Merrett (123) and Jasper Pittard (118) continue to show that there is some hope for the future as well as youngster Corey Ellis hitting a career high 81. This was no match for the Vikings though who compiled a round high total score of 1443 with 4 100+ scores led by Shuey (151) and Hanley (148) but the coach might be most excited by the performances of young guns Heeney (123) and Biggs (120).

It's back to the drawing board for the Buffaloes as they travel next week to Pearcedale while the Vikings look to continue their strong start to the season when they host the struggling but potentially luckless so far, Whalers.

    Votes
    3 Luke Shuey (151)
    2 Pearce Hanley (148)
1 Isaac Heeney (123) (Tied with Zac Merrett but given to Heeney given that they are both forwards but Heeney's score was higher than his season average?)

A spirited encounter @DamoH for the Smugglers and Armadillos saw Ararat get over the line by 200 odd points . Unfortunately for Chrissy island there were too many passengers on the day. Harbrow and Lever let the team down and while Dom Tyson thrived in his late call up for the absent Maric, it wasn't enough to get an away win.
The home side had their share of bystanders with Gibbs Edwards and Taylor all failing to fire a shot however they were somewhat buoyed by a 77 from McDonald #2. Whilst not that impressive in the scheme of things, hopefully it is a sign of things to come from the youngster.
The dillos enjoyed post match beers with their island counterparts and trust that it wont affect their preparation for next week after things got a bit sloppy and with nudie runs aplenty

It was a long trip back to WA for the Sandgropers after a round 4 loss to the Monarchs - King Island 1417, Southern Cross 1124. With the cupboards looking bare the visitors went in 1 short and while they got the better of the midfield battle due to strong performances by Fyfe and Hunter, they struggled at either end of the ground. Rance was the dominant back on the day and Betts continued his good form up forward.

A well deserved win to the Dillos. And the pictures from the nudie runs have been filed away for blackmail purposes.

0-4 is the worst run in the history of the Smugglers. Hopefully Lids and the Mullet can get on the field this weekend and set an example to the rest of the squad.

Indeed. A brain fart on my part there. Enright could've been the difference in the end in a fairly close one. Realised too late that I should've played Cockatoo OOP in defense but despite a solid 92, it still wouldn't have been enough. Just too good this week mate.

Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,148 def Cow Bay Crocs 680

Hughenden finally shook off an undermanned determined Cow Bay Croc outfit at Dinosaur Park to secure the club second win for the season.

In a low scoring first half it appeared Cow Bay had all the answers but with 5 players unable to make the field in the second half it resulted in easy win for Hughenden lead by Ward (137) in the mid field, Yeo (129) in defence and Waite (129) in the forward line. The only highlight for Cow Bay was the performance of Ceglar (70) who dominated the ruck against Crozier (15) and Lycett (104) did his best to try and lift his side.

In the end it was an easy win by the Prairie Dogs with no injuries and plenty to look forward to next week.

Cow Bay are in a world of trouble with a number of players out of form and injured, it is going to be a long trip home and could be a very long season.

    BAFFU Awards
    3 Callum WARD (137)
    2 Elliott YEO (129)
    1 Jarrod WAITE (129)

Thanks for the review Batfink. 2016 certainly looks like a very f****n long season lol. Boyd's injury and Lycett's suspension certainly doesn't help things at all. Can only hope Tucker and Hopper start getting named in the starting 22s rather than as emergencies and Leppa has some brains and starts playing Keays!

A short way into the match and the Grenades have opened up a slight advantage at 179/2/89.5 to 117/2/58.5. Paul Seedsman decided it was time to score his 3rd highest score, 90, of the past 3 seasons (POOYA worthy maybe?) pipping Douglas' 89, while for the Bulls two sub-par scores of 52 and 65 respectively from their Hawks stars have put them behind early in the piece.

@choppers the loss of Laidler early will hopefully turn this match into a more even contest!

Half way through the 3rd quarter and the home town Sandgropers are putting in their best performance of the season (12/1125/93.75) against @choppers Barcrawlers (9/526/58). After starting a man down the ledger was quickly evened with Laidler succumbing to injury early for the visitors; their defence was further plunged into disarray when Suckers also hurt himself. Southern Cross took full advantage to power on and register 7 tons with Captain Fyfe and fit again defender Plowman still to come. It's going to be super tough from here for the visitors; surely the Sandgropers are on their way to their second win of the season!

    Viking 757/10/75.7
    Whalers 457/6/76.1

Close game at Nuytsland with Whalers taking the advantage into the final term with a full compliment of midfielders who haven't hit the park yet.

Grenades 641/8/80.125 trailing @tyze1 's Bulls 738/9/82. This game could turn out to be a close one with both midfields having at least 2 players left to play
