Excuse the hold up fellas. Got some trade discussions going on in the background which affect this pick. Will happen at some stage today. Cheers
Trading allowed but has to be for the same number of players - so you can't create an extra draft pick.
This is my other issue with trading during drafts... 1) veto time is essentially eliminated - and if someone does veto, then do we "undo" all subsequent draft selections (meaning some coaches have effectively revealed their strategies). 2) we hold up the draft for behind the scenes discussions, that may or may not come to fruition. The more time that passes the more I think we need to completely eliminate trading during drafts.
That gets my vote. I don't have any issue with taking your full time allowed if there are "real life" issues in play. But I don't agree with holding the draft up for 8 1/2 hrs so someone can try and initiate a trade.
100% agree and what if this deal does not even come to fruition? Does the coach that gets his pick then get another 12 hours or does the pick have to be taken within the previous coaches allocated time ? Completely frustrated
+1 frustrated coach Good point, I would've thought that 12 hours between picks is 12 hours regardless of it changing hands. If we haven't heard from Mick and it gets to 9:07pm my time then I'm posting my pick, getting a bit tired of waiting.
Happy to be the test case for some of the possible affects of trading during the draft. Seems like most are against it. I'm not a big fan myself - gets a bit messy. Easy enough to have a vote on a rule change / new rule at the end of the season. Doesn't look like this deal is going to go through anyway. Pick will be in shortly.
In all honesty trading in draft can work, but only if your coaches have due consideration for the other coaches. There is a need for people to stick to the spirit of the rule as much as the letter of it
