Now, Len, we've been through this already. Just because they wear orange does not automatically make them elite. EDIT - but in some good news, there are still a shit tonne of Port players in the pool so you may get your wish yet!
It's not the fact that they wear orange that makes them elite. It's the fact that they haven't been traded to Carlton that places them in that category.
In mid-September last year I certainly didn't expect to be selecting a ruckman with pick 8. At that point I had a clear-cut top four (and still did at the start of the PSD) of McGrath, McCluggage, Taranto and Ainsworth. English is going to take some time but has got great skills and work-rate for a ruckman, the ability to handcuff him with two other Bulldogs ruckman in Roughead and Boyd was a factor in selecting him.
Understand your thinking dean. English can certainly play and may surprise with how soon. Love the thought of him backing up Tom Campbell and palming the ball off to Dunks and Toby. Cows are fragile and injury prone. Needed another fragile and injury prone guy to cover. Welcome Sam.
Surprised Menegola went that late, I would have grabbed him but by the stage the rest of the team will be ready he will be too old. Good get Graeme
Menegola was my original target at Pick 3 - I needed another good young midfielder and he fitted the bill. But midfielders are easier to trade for than ruckman - so my conundrum ended up being "Pick a ruckman at 3, trade for mids, or Pick a mid at 3, trade for a couple of ruckmen" Ultimately I traded for ruckmen (somewhat unexpectedly), traded for mids and then had the chance to handcuff Naismith (with Pick 3) to Sinclair as both are Sydney rucks. But Menegola is a bloody good pick at 9. Don't think you can go wrong there, Graeme.
Be driving on the road until 12, so if Lenny and Fisty make picks soon it will have to wait sorry guys.
