    Ex-croc Marchbank with 97

How does Douglas score less than Kelly? Utter rubbish
    - Equal disposals but Douglas had 5 more kicks (worth more points)
    - +3 marks to Douglas
    - +2 GOALS TO DOUGLAS!
Yet Douglas ends up with 94 and Kelly with 105!?!?!? o_O

That's game over as well @wrightbrendan thanks for the updates

Hey mate. Thanks for the updates. Have been trying to check via my mobile which makes it a bit hard, especially down the south coast where reception is a bit hit and miss. I used all my available forwards and needed the Carlton Emergency. I think I should probably cop one of my other Defenders though and not Marchbanks score, but that is up to the board. Sheridan was named when I put my team in and didn't see he was emergency until just now.

I also copped donuts in my SC team as it wasn't meant to be my weekend with fantasy footy!

Just checked my other 2 defender options - Geary and SD Thompson, both scored 88. Don't think this is going to be an issue, but happy to take what is coming!

All good mate. I was out and about and in a rush so shouldn't have put that part of the sentence in my update.

    A further update...
    Bunyips 1166/13/90
    Crocs 869/13/69
Laird's 147 has all but sealed the result of this match

Vikings 1231 have beaten Sandgropers 1041 but should feel heartened that there midfield broken even with one man short. Two players missing could have been the difference but with many players injured the round trip match could level the ledger.

In a low scoring affair Serengeti have come away with a first up win defeating the visiting Grenades 1151 - 1006 (incl. Hibberd)

There were familiar names leading the way for the Buff with Captain Dangerfield (138) and Merrett (126) putting in solid shifts while Steven May (123) led an undermanned defense with a massive effort. New recruits Sam Reid (100) and Jack Riewoldt (82) got their Serengeti careers off to promising starts while the last of the debutants Jack Steven (75) was rumoured to have got lost in the wilderness on his way to the game and as a result put in an underwhelming performance after arriving just before kickoff. In what could be a related incident, James Aish & Paddy McCartin were unsighted for the entire day despite being selected. Steven was quoted as reporting that the 3 left for the match together but were somehow separated on the way. The club is sure the 2 are safely tucked away somewhere but having still not heard from the young pair, officials have sent out a search party to see if they can be found.

For the visitors, Jack Steele (113) acclimatised to the humid conditions best but unfortunately for the Grenades he did not have much support with Lachie Neale (83) and Sam Lloyd (38) particularly disappointing while the defense Daniel Talia (19) and Taylor Hunt (25) were unable to cope with the Buffaloes tall forward line.

After securing a win with an undermanned team and with the hope of some senior players returning to the team in round 2, Serengeti will travel over to Pakenham next week as they seek to continue their winning ways taking on the high-powered Parasites while Gisborne will look to rebound at home against the ever-challenging Armadillos.

Round 1 Match Report Bulls v Panthers

In a highly anticipated match a logistical cock up has cost the Panthers, as upto 7 starters missed the bus from the Peninsula up to North East Vic.

In the end a new look Bulls outfit comfortably accounted for the Panthers 1354 - 913.

For the home team recruits Hill, Selwood, Mayes all cracked the ton with Wellingham's 82 off half back an excellent start to his life as a Bull. Mackie turned the clock back with 110, Swallow, Lynch and McEvoy all joined the party as 8 Bulls scored three digits. The most welcome site however was the return of Roughy who with 2 goals will be better for the run. Captain Rocky season couldn't have started better as he started 2017 with a bang.

Not a lot of lowlights Salem's 63 was a tad disappointing, Wood did as expected also scoring 63, Hill & Griffen were off in Round 1 but it mattered little.

Around the grounds some ex Bulls also started new careers in fine fashion with Reid, Ibbotson (I am amzed), Hall and McGovern all performing well.

The Panthers battled manfully with Shaw & Howe racking them up at half back as they saw plenty of the ball. Parker, Mundy and Hunter tried hard in the middle but were out-manned. Reid's return was a little disappointing as he was outgunned by Lynch whilst unfortunately the Panther forward line just couldn't get a sniff combining for a meagre 151 points.

A Panthers line up including Nankervis (114), Caddy (73), Conca (71), Rioli (64) & Ellis (76) will be much improved as they look to kick start their season in another road trip to Southern Cross.

For the Bulls they will be looking at going 2 - 0 for the first time in franchise history against Cow Bay.

    Votes:
    5 - Rockliff (SFB)
    4 - S Hill (SFB)
    3 - Shaw (PEP)
    2 - Mackie (SFB)
    1 - Swallow (SFB)

Not sure which system we are using

In the 2016 grand final replay, what was a tight and see sawing affair turned into a victory for the Armadillos. This marks their first victory (thanks @fresh for the stats) over the might of Groote Eylandt in 4 attempts.
The Barracudas put in some solid performances as you'd expect from Cotchin, Lewis, Zorko and Bontempelli, however they were let down by Burgoyne, Hannebery and Cripps in particular.
The Armadillos had no stand outs and only a few weak links with Rich and McDonald of the Luke variety expected to up their intensity on the track this week to secure a round 2 spot.
In the end it was AA 1316 to GEB 1277.

In familiar scenes, Cow Bay hosted another loss at home to kick off their season, this year losing to Blanchetown by 333 points, 999 to 1,332.

The home team lost a few midfielders before the start of the season with promising youngsters DeGoey, Acres and Hopper missing from the lineup. That familiar name Libba led the home team but didn't have much support with Blakely (88) the only other mid pulling his weight. Zak Jones and his 95 was a shining light in the back 4 with OMcDonald's score of 80 the only other effort of note. The forward structure seemed to fall apart during the game with Gunston having a very down day and only returning a 68 and the remaining forwards running around like headless chooks.

Of note, the Crocs saw a strong debut from McGrath (83) and positive signs from Taranto (44). Young Zak Jones has been on the list for close to 2 years after being picked up in the 2015 MSD and has stepped up to the bigger responsibility being handed to him. O McDonald's 80 is also pleasing after joining the Crocs in the 2016 MSD. The development coaches has gotten something right with those 4.

Blachetown was ably led by Pendles (146) in the middle and had plenty of support...except for Robbie Gray (38) deciding to go get himself some Daintree ice cream at quarter time and not bothering to come back to the ground. Laird (147) ran amok and Marchbank's 97 is a bittersweet moment for the home team after letting him go for PSD pick #14 (which eventually turned into Taranto). Another astute trade by @martyg saw Cameron join the Bunyips and his 119 points was just what the doctor ordered.

The Big Tap award went to Sam Jacobs this weekend, his mammoth 59SC points was not bettered by Tom Boyd's 39SC.

In unfamiliar territory, Cow Bay sit outside the bottom 2 in 16th place whereas Blanchetown are right at home in 4th spot.

Next week Blanchetown hosts the Barcrawlers while the Crocs host the Bulls.

    BAFFU Votes:
    3 - Laird, Blanchetown (147)
    2 - Pendles, Blanchetown (146)
    1 - C Cameron, Blanchetown (119)

Match Report: Banchang v Christmas Island
The Smugglers got off to a flyer at The Stadium, with Martin 159, Kreuzer 121, and Grigg 113, all tonning up whilst the Local team all laboured under the onslaught and at Qtr time were behind 393-28.
Things didn't get any better for The Barcrawlers after that display from Christmas Is. and the visitors kept piling on the pressure with superb displays from the returning Heppell 152, the little Frenchie, LeCras 108, and another comeback boy in Beams 91.
Banchang tried hard with solid efforts over the ground from Adams 117 down back, Hall 118 in the middle and Higgins up front with 111 but with little support from the others, it wasn't enough to get the win.
There were some encouraging scores from the 2nds with new boys Langdon and Knight both scoring 78 and Bastinac 70, all performing well. I'm sure their names will come up at the selection table for our next game when we visit Blanchetown in Round 2.
    BOG:
    3
    Martin 159 (CIS)
    2 Heppell 152 (CIS)
    1 Kreuzer 121 (CIS)

Round 1 Match Report - Coolgardie hosting @ddsaints Pakenham Parasites

Pakenham Parasites 1394 defeated Coolgardie Prospectors 1302 by 92 points.

In what was the highest scoring match for the round, due to the average performances in defence by the locals, and one of the visiting defenders missing the bus, the visiting Pakenham Parasites have taken out a 92 point win against the Coolgardie Prospectors. The home side were greatly disappointed when they saw coach JPK head out for drinks on Friday night, and never return - it was a loss they never quite recovered from!

The victors had some solid scores all over the ground, lead by spearhead Lance Franklin on 125 points.
The backline had two tons, an average score and a donut, lead by K Simpson on 107.
The mids had three tons in Gaff, Sidey, and Gazza and a nervous-90's return for the drug-free* J Watson.
The forwards were kicking goals all over the place, with Franklin supported by another two tons, and an average 69.
A rampaging Goddard came off the bench for another ton to round out a Peter Brock-like 9 tons on the ground for the Parasites.

For the home side, it was the star JPK leading the way, for a BOG 134 points.
The defence was only average, allowing the visitors to score from all angles, with a range of 64 to 82 points.
Three rampant mids helped the home side get some ascendancy, but the return of Jaeger for an average 71 was a little disappointing.
The forwards were all over the shop, with a ton from Touk, and the in-and-out Watts better off staying out, with just 43.
The bench saw more points from Stefan, but Fantasia was wasted away in the red vest, not realising that he couldn't use it this year!

There wasn't much for the rucks to do in this open and free-flowing game, where midfield possession ruled, and stoppages were few and far between. The Parasites K Tippett took the spoils over local hero S Mumford, 81 points to 69.

In the end it was an entertaining game (for those who saw it), and should hopefully bode well for a strong season for both sides.
Next up sees the Parasites back home, hoping for some juicy steaks of the Buffalo variety, fresh from the Serengeti. The Africans had a first up win at home, hosting the explosive but misfiring Grenades, and will be hoping to continue the winning form on the road.
Meanwhile the Prospectors head out on a fishing expedition, hoping to catch some Barracuda in the Groote Eylandt region. The Territorians suffered a narrow loss in country Victoria to the former "Biggest Losers", and will be hoping to strike gold at home.
    Good luck to all teams.

    Votes:

K Tippett, Pakenham, defeated S Mumford, Coolgardie, by 12 points.

@eagle_eyed Vikings 1st Victory of Sandgropers taking home Sandy Nuyts Cups

13 Players boarded the bus to Viking Land, already the mood was sour with players feeling despaer that going into the first game with uneven numbers so could forgive

Sandgropers if they decided to chuck in the towel. Duncan 118 known to go missing Prestia 115 back from injury Fyfe 108 legs finally right lead the way over Viking midfield where only Mitchell 116 dug in Ross 36 forgot season had started.
Ryder 87 back from suspension won tap over Grundy 82, good new did not stop there either with McGrovern 98 out scoring all Viking defenders. Sandgropers interchange also took the chocolates Milera 87 Hoskin-Elliot 88 out scored Crouch 113 who deserves a spot in mids Biggs 58 again disappoints.

Really only win for home team was in forwards Young 103 continuing JLT form and only finds himself in the team due to Heeney being ill, Petracca 95 stood up Motlop 87 solid hit out. Sandgropers Smith 65 top scored for visitors gave them no chance of pulling a suprise victory. Sheed and Crozier need a sturn talking to for taking the boat.

    3. Duncan 118
    2. Mitchell 116
    1. Prestia 115

With a full team Sandgropers are the dark horse of the competition.

Round 1 - Korumburra Blowflys 1195 defeated Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1193

Wow! What a result to kick off the 2017 season for the Blowflys who managed to just hold on for a 2 point win in absolute nail biter against the Prairie Dogs.

On the flipside a rough start to the season for Hughenden - who in a bizarre coincidence also began last season with a 2 point defeat!

The sun was shining on Korumburra oval as the Prairie Dogs entered the Terrordome to take on a team they had soundly beaten in their 2 previous meetings. It all began in the middle (as most games of football usually do) with the battle of the big men being a war of attrition with Sandilands (107) narrowly getting the nod on the judges scorecard over Goldstein (105) - reversing the overall result to give HPD the 2 point win in the Giant Tap.

The new look KB midfield won the day led by Barlow (106) ably supported by Picken (90) and Redden (91) - rewarding his selection after a strong pre season. Captain Sloane (77) wasn't his usual self - returning early from a broken face to lead the troops in the season opener - but he'll be better for the run.

Young sophomore Clayton Oliver (109) was by far the standout for the HPD midfield over a bunch of ordinary 70 odds for Ward, Shiel, Jack and Shiels = plenty of room for improvement to come for this squad in 2017.

It was a couple of lesser lights in Elliot (Yo-Yo) Yeo (139) - who was everywhere on the day and Lee Spurr (110) rock solid down back who led the way for Hughenden.

The strength of the KB defense was evident, regularly halting the Prairie Dogs attack and rebounding with vigour through the likes of Docherty (91), the promising young Jayden Hunt, the excitement machine Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti and Johannisen (126) who was KB's best for the day - even sneaking forward to bang a couple of snags!

The added scoreboard impact from JJ was much needed with first gamer Ainsworth (79) the pick of the KB forwards. The match committee definitely pulled the right reign there, choosing their 1st pick in the recent PSD as the 15th man in the squad over the likes of Cockatoo, Florent and Cox. In the end that decision, and Ainsworth's 2 goals, gave KB the points to get them over the line.

Cockatoo breaking his hand in the 2's was the only sour point over the weekend but with Luke Hodge chomping at the bit to get back amongst it, Menegola unlucky to miss, McVeigh's recovery on track and the other boys performing well in the magoos, the Blowflys are looking like they will be big improvers this season.

For HPD with Darcy Byrne-Jones itching for a run as the travelling emergency + the likes of Howlett and Kerridge performing well in the 2's, the competition for spots at Hughenden will be hot and some tough decisions will need to be made by the selection committee this week. The tea leaves read well for a solid season ahead for the Prairie Dogs.

    BAFFU
    3 - Elliot Yeo (HPD) 139
    2 - Jason Johannisen (KB) 126
    1 - Lee Spurr (HPD) 110
