In a match that will live long in the memories of the home town supporters, the Buffoaloes have found themselves a way to win and keep their 2020 season hopes alive.

Tales of Charlie Ballard (23) and Martin Gleeson (37) taping their opposing gimp halves together to ensure space was filled in the team defensive structures, friendly arguments over who fans could be more excited about between Merrett (137), Sheed (137) & Ridley (124) and a disturbing amount of man love for Charlie Dixon (117) were all heard well into the night as fans celebrated a memorable victory.

With two ex-Buffaloes in the squad, the visitors were heartily welcomed at the post match dissection. They had youngsters of their own to be excited about with McGrath (109), Nelson (101) and the Serengeti locals Witherden (100) & Bolton (84) all performing well but the visiting fans were torn between their excitement for the future and impatience for the taste of victory.

That difference in a few established performers ultimately proved the difference in this contest and kept the faint Serengeti hopes of catching the top place Blowflys alive while the Crocs left defeated on the day but confident in the plans being laid.

    Final Scores
Serengeti 1209 def Cow Bay 1121

Gisborne Grenades 1092 defeated by Banchang Barcrawlers 1288 @choppers

Club Statement: Gisborne refuses to discuss tanking allegations, with the non-selection of Fiorini providing cause for consternation. Club officials instead guide the media to the points against column, which clearly shows the Grenades with a number larger than other teams. The club refuses to provide further details of the levels of salt at the poor fixturing of the committee, forcing Gisborne to repeatedly come up against high scoring teams. However, the club is united in placing blame directly with the committee, and take no responsibility for poor scoring over the 2020 season.

Banchang made the long trip down to Covid-riddled Victoria for another shortened round of 2020 FU football. Banchang were most affected by the bye round, with the Grenades only having Sam Gray out who was unlikely to play anyway. This made the win all the more impressive for the Barcrawlers, who managed a score near the magical 1300 which wins you most ORFFU games.

The only report your friendly author will make on the Grenades is that Laird and Neale scored a combined 352 points, or 32.2% of the overall team score. Poor performances from everyone else really killed all hopes. Teamwork makes the dreamwork, and unfortunately no classic children's animated feature films came out of this soiree (geddit, cause Dreamworks? I'm here all night).

For the Barcrawlers, a host of shining stars soared gracefully over country Victoria. Lyons (138) and Adams (128) continue to go from strength to strength, the former appearing to relish the opportunity at a better new club. The star of Doedee (108) rose this season, and a sad early end to his campaign means his star will stall following this game. Ladhams (138) was the shock meteor sighting for the game, with no forecasts placing his orbit within visible sight for regional Victorians. The (virtual) crowd left the game wondering if they had seen the initial rise of the next superstar ruckman/forward, or whether it was simply a blue moon event. Davies-Uniacke was impressive too, but the key for the Barcrawlers was the lack of star implosion, with no reportable unexpectedly low scores.

Attention swiftly turns to the Smugglers for Banchang. With 6 games left and only just on 4 wins, finals may seem a push. However, with the 6th highest points for in the league, nobody doubts the scoring power of this ragged bunch of inebriated stars.

    BAFFU
    3. Laird 185
    2. Neale 167
    1. Ladhams/Lyons 138

Thanks @Tomster for this detailed report, twas a joy to read and it's much appreciated.
However, with tongue planted firmly in cheek and, as a Foundation Member of The Suns, I do take umbrage at your piece, "Lyons appears to relish the opportunity at a better new Club".

Match report from Pakenham rd 11 v Staghorn Flat Bulls

2 teams well matched was always going to be close, with the home team edging ahead late to seal a tough win.
    Pakenham 1237 def Staghorn 1215
Both teams had some excellent scorers with Cerra 134 Butters 119 and Setterfield 102 the standouts for Pakenham and Staghorns Weller 127 McCluggage 117 Brayshaw 113 Mundy 104 Rockliff 104 and Maynard 101 all stared.
But in the end it was a few low scores from Ryan 18 and Lynch 18 that cost the Bulls the match.
Pakenham scraped by with just steady scoring, nothing exciting.
It’s pleasing to see the Parasites able to win these close matches now.
The giant tap was taken out by BrownRow 89 over Lobb 88, another close battle fitting for the contest.
The votes for BOG 3. Cerra. 2. Weller. 1. Butters

Slow start in Gisborne, with the Buffaloes electing to bat and moving along to 4/360 after day 1. Twin tons to Kelly and Dangerfield marked day 1, with Gisborne hoping early wickets tomorrow will allow them to start their innings, currently 0/0 @wrightbrendan

Early in the second half at the Sandpit and it’s the Sandgropers (693/8/87) leading @bryzza ‘s Vikings (681/8/85) by 12 points. It will be a short lived lead as the home side have gone in two players short.

    Go ‘Gropers!

Round 11 - Southern Cross Sandgropers defeated by @Tylo ‘s King Island Monarchs

A match that promised so much, ended up delivering very little. Neither side was able to field a full compliment of players with the home side going in with 11 against 14. For the visitors, five tonnes kept the scoring ticking over with Macrae’s 183 leading all comers and Naitanui 129 taking the Giant tap points, unopposed in the ruck. The Sandgropers had their own stars with Fyfe scoring 130 and Darling finding some form on his way to 115, however the gap between our best and worse was just too much to remain competitive.

This ended up being another disappointing home encounter for the fans, who must be very close to microwaving their memberships. Rumour has it the club’s owners are actively shopping the franchise in regional Australia in the hope a change of scenery will bring with it a change in fortunes.

    Go ‘Gropers!

    The Barracuda's are on 1,160/11 105.5 and the Amarillo's @insider are on 759/8 94.9

The big news from the paddock is that young Mihocek was flattened, out cold. The Arrarat boys are a tough lot and it's always a brusing day each time we play them.

Still to come for the home team, Burgoyne, the Bont, Ryder and Cripps of the Jamie variety.
The Visitors have Harwick, Wingard, Bowes, Higgins, Smelling, Bytel and Grimes.
