    @martyg

Cow Bay holds a 350 point lead. No surprised really with 3 donuts for the Bunyips so far.

    Cow Bay: 769 / 10 / 76.9
    Blanchetown: 419 / 9 / 46.6 (inc. 3 donuts)

Bunyips look like they will have a stronger hold on the number 1 pick after this weekend.

Full time at the Goldfields, and it remained a very tight one between the home town Coolgardie Prospectors and the visiting Pakenham Parasites @ddsaints

    upload_2021-5-17_7-24-8.png

It what was a very defensive affair, with a lot of average scores, the home side fell over the line by 12 points.

Team selection still causes the Prospectors a lot of headaches, while desire and attack on the ball from too many players cost the visitors a golden opportunity to march up the ladder.

The giant tap was taken out by O McInerney, Coolgardie over R Marshall, Pakenham, by 28 points, 71 to 43.

    The votes:
    3 - O Wines, Coolgardie, 139
    2 - J Short, Coolgardie, 101
    1 - J McInerney, Coolgardie, 100

Next up sees the Prospectos on a NT fishing trip, to Groote Eylandt, while Pakenham are back home in Victoria hosting the boys from the Serengeti in Africa. Good luck to all four teams.

Cow Bay 1,175 def Blanchetown 915
The Bunyips turned up with 12 fit men. Some say it was due to injury, others believe they just want another wooden spoon. The sinister think that the arrogant Bunyips truly thought they could easily account for a 15 man Cow Bay outfit. Based on the Crocs' form this year ,I don't blame them if that was the case. Regardless of the reason, Cow Bay recorded their 3rd win of the season, accounting for the Bunyips by 260 points.

Young Bailey Williams (45) had his chance to show the Cow Bay supporters the future of the ruck. He was well beaten by ROB (80), but he competed well and impressed the coaches and home crowd. Hopper (137) put in a BOG performance and was very well supported by other mids McGrath (104), Taranto (96) and Libba (96). Down back, Jumping Jack Scrimshaw (109) continues to improve and General Witherden (122) repaid the faith shown in him by the list management team. However, it was not all rainbows, lollypops and blue skies. The forwards showed less energy than a bunch of card playing 90 year olds in a retirement home.

The opposition mids battled with one man. Sam Walsh (111) was the only man who put in much effort. One of the few positives, Hardwick (134) almost took home BOG honours and his attempt at trying to do everything himself didn't lift the spirits of Bunyips around him. Saad (80) appears to be in 2nd gear, Cameron (76) plodded along and Daicos (78) hasn't hit the heights of 2020.

    Big Tap
Williams (45) def by ROB (80)

    BAFFU
    3 Hopper, Cow Bay, 137
    2 Scrimshaw, Blanchetown, 134
    1 Witherden, Cow Bay, 122

This round gave Cow Bay their 3rd win and they jumped to 12th spot. Blanchetown remains in 18th position on 1 win.
Next week Cow Bay hosts Staghorn Flat and the Bunyips host the Barcrawlers.

Horsham came across the Indian Ocean for their first visit to the shores of Tanzania and unfortunately for the faithful few travelling fans, the team got a little too carried away with the visit part of that equation.

Having been utterly confused all season by the prospect of having fit players unable to get a game (even if the ruck department still somehow manages to remain an issue), the Serengeti management team devised a plan to pur the non-playing members to good use. Harrison Jones, Ryan Byrnes & Liam Henry are forming a tight bond amongst a group of youngsters finding their way. Instead of sticking around as emergencies the budding travel agents put together a Safari trip that sounded so appealing over pre-game drinks that they signed up Grenades playing members Ned McHenry, Connor Ballenden, Brayden Fiorini and Will Phillips. The end result of that was Horsham having to run out with only 11 players.

The match was already won by that stage and although Tim Kelly (127) and Rory Laird (120) still put in solid performances even that was outdone by the work of locals Darcy Parish (134) & Josh Kelly (132).

    Final Scores
    Serengeti 1285 def Horsham 897

    BAFFU
    3 Darcy Parish SB (134)
    2 Josh Kelly SB (132)
    1 Tim Kelly HG (127)

    Big Tap
Tom Campbell 88 def Andrew Phillips 69

Unable to find absolutely anything at all interesting in or around Pakenham, the Serengeti brains trust will be devising a new plan for the extended squad as they travel in round 10 to face the Parasites while Horsham will be hoping the home town feel will inspire more of their boys to take the field and play as they host the high flying Armadillos.

The "graveyard" being the hometowns advantage has seen it's oval turn on its own players with every week bringing a new injury, but with that being said we have in the past been able to eek out wins. Unfortunately creme dela creme Mitchell is having a stinker of a year struggling to come to terms with less than is usual supply from a non existant ruckman as English big head is real-ling from the effects of a 4 week concussion and unknown when he will be back. That is the sad state of affairs down here but take nothing away from the very strong Sandgropers a home away from home travel wise a short drive down south dominated on every line. Docherty is fit, Cummings starring with freedom to run. Rowbottom and young gun Drew showing the old timers how its done in the middle, Grundy a little down from previous years but still dominate, Superstar Martin back in form after a recent trip to see his dad and Darling marking everything in site.

Late in the third at the Sandpit and it’s @ron swanson ‘s visiting Panthers (780/10/78) holding a 58 point lead over the Sandgropers (722/8/90).

With two players not showing up and holes being plugged by OOPs, it’s tough to see Pearcedale holding on from here.

    Go Sandgropers!!!
