    The Smugglers @DamoH are on 706/9 78.4 to the Barracuda's on 1, 098/13 84.5

Unfortunately from the home team their players are already banged up before starting, the cost of this season so far is heavy.

The Smugglers have Mr Matrix and ex-Cuda Zurhaar. The visiting Barracuda's have McGovern and ex-Smuggler Hall.

Late into the last quarter at the Sandpit and Southern Cross (1137/12/95), have hit back hard to take the lead over @JPK ‘s Coolgardie (1125/13/87) by 12 points.

These rivalry matches always seem to bring the best out of Coolgardie, with many players and supporters, seeing this match as their GF .

With the home side a man down it’s two v two tomorrow night when Darling, Rotham & 12 points, take on Duggan & Larkey.

This one's could go either way.

    Go Sandgropers!!!

    Vikings 1419/15/95

In what was a tight tussle, Panthers showed they have the talent but lack that depth to contest for the win. Darcy is taking the competition by storm, getting to the club first every morning at 7 am has proven elite dedication can make you a better player. Darcy's dominance his midfield is reaping the benefits Parker, Ellis and Simpkin
having consistent high output and Smith rotating back and mid to gather plenty of the ball. Unfortunately for Pearcedale that's where it stops Hewett cannot reach peak of last year, Brown cannot string games together, Hunter is down on form and 3 donuts to follow.

Rollar coaster of 2021 continues for Vikings, still missing our two best players we scored our highest game of the season with 5 players hitting 120+ making up for some average scores. Could this be the turning point of season? probably not next up Aarat

    Vikings
Shannon Hurn 104, 20 kicks and 10 marks
    Tom Mitchell 131, 39 dispoasls
Ben CUNNINGTON 126, 25 touches with 5 tackles
Christian Petracca 173, 33 touches 3 goals and 6 tackles
Timothy English 126, 22 possessions 8 marks and 6 tackles with a goal
Jaidyn Stephenson 153, 38 disposals with 14 in 3rd term

    Panthers
Brodie SMITH 110, 24 kicks and 8 marks
Luke PARKER 132, 29 possessions and 4 tackles
Brandon Ellis 118, 41 disposals with 29 by hand
    Jy Simpkin 124, 32 touches 8 marks
Sean Darcy 183, 25 possessions and 27 hitout

The last of a 3 game home stand had the potential to be a danger match against an improving Bunyips who were coming off some red hot form the week before and the Buffalo boys having one eye firmly planted on their rivalry matchup against their overseas counterparts in Bancgang the following week.

Unfortunately for the Bunyips a few of their lads decided to play it safe and not travel outside their quarintine bubble and playing two short meant that this contest was over before it begun. Sam Walsh (158) did his absolute most in a BOG performance that showed he will lead this team well into the future, Luke Dunstan (114) continue his career renaissance and Ben Keays (84) dutifully stuck to his non-compete clause against his former employeers.

For the home side focus has formly shifted to a finals campaign with the locals curious to see if management can sort out their selection issues by the end of the regular season and work out what the best XV looks like. Zac Merrett (143) continues to go from strength to strength but he was ably supported by an encouraging Bailey Smith (124). Dom Sheed (62) & Joe Daniher (57) would want to pull their finger out though if they want to figure in the plans for a push toward Serengeti premiership glory.

Final result from the Horsham V Korumburra match with the Blowflys taking a very comfortable 387 point win (1272 vs 885), which has effectively locked in Korumburra's finals appearance. Meanwhile, Horsham needs a miracle to avoid the spoon.

Despite needing to rely on a couple of emergencies, Korumburra were well lead by Steele (149), Hind (134), Goldstein (126), Kelly (115) and Boak (112) and the match up was over well before half time. For Horsham, Jiath (94), Billings (94) and Drew (93) all showed good future potential in a tough loss.

On the injury front, Jiath will miss the remainder of the season.

Match report from Pakenham v Banchang

The home fans welcomed another strong team to Pakenham in the hopes an upset could be on cards.
Unfortunately that didn’t happen and as most punters predicted the better team dominated on the day.
Banchang running away victors 1186 over 943
The home team hang in there with Lukosius 106 the only one to break the ton.
The away teams scores somehow where lost by the scorers at Pakenham stupidity has riddled the club at the moment top to bottom. We can’t even manage to keep the scores.
We did some how manage to remember some brilliant efforts from the bar crawlers Dawson 141, Adams 140 Elliott 111 LDU 100 and Lycett 98 who on the day held off the Parasites easy.

The giant tap was won by Lycett 98 defeating Big Row 95

    BOG 3 Dawson 141, Adams 140 Elliott 111

    Banchang v Serengeti.

    Half Time:
In a low scoring affair at The Stadium, the visiting Buffaloes got off to an absolute flyer in the 1st Qtr with evergreen Patrick Dangerfield 134 kicking things off, followed by Smokin' Joe in the 2nd Qtr, with 78.
Banchang countered and with Lyons 104, dominating in the midfield, and Robbo 99, coming in off the bench, managed to edge ahead and at the whistle, it's Banchang 3/239 just ahead of Serengeti 2/212.

    3Qtr Time: Banchang v Serengeti

After a slow start to the 1st half, expectations were high and whilst the visitors lived up to those expectations, the home team crumbled under the onslaught and only Collins 101, down back, and Lycett 87, in the ruck, can say they had a crack, and Banchang went to the break on 9/670/74.4
Serengeti only needed 4 players to stay in touch, with McKenzie 127, having maybe his best game and Smith,104, of the flowing mullet fame, providing enough impetus to finish on 6/586/97.7, and with their entire centre line still to appear, it's a foregone conclusion that the Buffaloes will be taking the 4 pts back to Africa...

    Belated Rnd 12 match report.

Southern Cross Sandgropers 1323/15/88 defeated @Mick s Korumburra Blowflys 1298/15/87 by 25 points.

In what was a super tight affair, the consistency of the Sandgropers won out over the stars of the Blowflys.

Only three of the home side managed to salute, versus 7 for the visitors, however at the bottom end of the scoring charts, Southern Cross had no one score under 60, whereas Korumburra had 5 such players.

    Belated Rnd 14 match report.

Southern Cross Sandgropers (1268/14/91), defeated by @JPK ‘s Coolgardie Prospectors (1289/15/86), by 21 points.

As much as Southern Cross snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in this one, it was almost the perfect storm of ORFFU/AFL matches. For me, it goes down as my favourite ORFFU match of all time.

    To explain...

After the Friday match, the teams were separated by just 9 points. The players duked it out all Saturday, with the Prospectors extending their lead to 39 points. Some monster scores on the Sunday from Short (129) & Miller (143) for Coolgardie, were matched by Mumford (119) & Grundy (140) for Southern Cross, with the lead changing hands multiple times throughout the day.

Heading into the last match on Monday night, the Sandgropers, playing a man short, had turned the deficit into a 12 point lead, with Darling & Rotham to play for the home side and Duggan & Larkey to feature for the visitors. It was at this point, when sitting at Optus Stadium, that I knew an Eagles win likely meant an ORFFU win.

In between watching the match and yelling at my team to go harder at the ball, I feverishly refreshed FanFooty after each possession, desperate to see how my “other” team was going.

Rotham was everywhere for Southern Cross, notching up 15 disposals and 81 points as he repelled the waves of Prospector attacks, effectively shutting Larkey out of the game and in conjunction with Darling’s 30 odd points, establishing a healthy 46 point lead for the home side with less than an hour to play.

The opposition coaches flipped the script, a defensive forward was sent to Rotham, curtailing his output and restricting him to only 13 more points for the match. This, in turn, let Duggan off the chain, and he quickly set about matching Rotham’s 1st half efforts by going on his own scoring run in the 2nd half. With things remaining tight, and Darling being shut out of the match, up stepped Larkey to take matters into his own hands. A dead eye, 3 straight goals, from limited possessions, sent him 30 odd points clear of Darling.

In front of my eyes, my team was losing to the wooden spooner, at home, in what was supposed to be a redemption match. To make things worse, in half an hour of football, a 46 point Southern Cross lead became a 12 point deficit. There was still time left and Nic & the midfield were on fire, all I needed was Jack to take a couple of marks and kick a couple of goals. That would have not only got the Eagles going, but also the Sandgropers. With 10 minutes to go in the match, both margins were still close enough that they could be overturned, however it was from this point that the light at the end of the tunnel faded. Neither Rotham, nor Darling could get any separation from their men, and as their influence at Optus dried up, so did the chances of Southern Cross winning the match.

For those that don’t know, the Kangaroos pulled off a famous upset victory over the Eagles (is it really an upset when the pea hearts had lost by a combined 23 goals over the previous fortnight?) and the Prospectors held on to take the 4 ORFFU points on offer.

I could hardly speak after yelling at my piss weak team for two hours, and as disappointed as I was with the Eagles performance and the Sandgropers’ loss, I was happy that I’d been able to enjoy an amazing ORFFU match that went down to the last 10 minutes of the final AFL game. Yeah, it sucks I lost, but it truly was a fantastic combination of fantasy and reality.

What you forgot to mention in all of that (great summary by the way) was the fact that both coaches were sending messages back and forth to each other (the two of us, not Simpson and Noble) throughout the contest, rubbishing each others' 'FU teams, and in the end rubbishing the insipid performance of the Eagles.
It was most-definitely a great contest, that did come down to the last few minutes of footy, and what made it such a great experience for me was the banter during the second half of that game!!!
Very upset the Eagles lost, but very happy the Prospectors won.
