Final result from the Horsham V Staghorn Flat match with the Bulls taking a comfortable 276 point win (1196 vs 920), their first win of the season and now move off the bottom of the ladder. Century makers McLuggage, Mundy, Salem and Lynch (and B Hill sitting on the bench) made light work of a Horsham team playing short this round, with only Tim Kelly achieving 100.

On the injury front, the Bulls seemed to get through unscathed, but will need to see if Barrass makes his way back in. For Horsham, if Hamling and Harmes return, they will likely at best be replacing McGovern and Hughes who both suffered injuries this week.

    BAFFU
    3 votes - T Kelly (HG)
    2 votes - H McLuggage (SFB)
    1 vote - D Mundy (SFB)

    Big Tap
McEvoy (SFB) defeated Campbell (HG) 106 to 73

Next round, the Bulls are at home to Pakenham and Horsham are away to Banchang.

Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1,291 defeated Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,069

The Barracudas back on familiar grounds up against the inform with ruck Prairie Dogs @Batfink.
The Cuda’s got out to a red-hot start from Houli who set the tone for the backline even sneaking up to kick a goal. With the defenders Lloyd, Weitering and Atley kept the visitors forward line frustrated all day especially for AMT who was sensational around the arc kicking a bag of 4
Hawkins was man handle by Sheppard, Naughton and Zorko were strong against DBJ and Ash, who was well down in execution and from both teams Cripps of the Jamie variety and Mills run through the middle.

At the centre bounces the two big men Stanley and Sinclair collided, surprisingly nullifying each other, leaving it up to the mids, which ended up being quiet even, Guthrie and Bont edging out Clarry and Ward.

Ryder was a sight for sore eyes coming off the inter-change bench to battle for the pig skin at ever opportunity in the forward line, on the boundary in the ruck contest around the ground to help the Cuda’s secure a win for the hometown fans. It was a solid performance, especially in the knowledge that young Checkers, Deven and McLean are knocking at the door to get in.

The Prairie Dogs head home licking their wounds to regroup to take in the Prospectors and for the Barracuda’s we head off to Eden to take on the Whalers.

Full time at the Sandpit and the hometown Sandgropers (1445/15/96) have notched up their sixth win of the season, defeating @choppers ‘s Barcrawlers (1316/15/88) by a comfortable 129 points.

Monster scores from Grundy, Selwood, Darling & Drew were matched or bettered by (ex-Sandgroper) Cunnington, Greenwood, Lyons & Langdon, leaving the difference between the two sides sitting at the bottom end of their lists.

The lowest scoring Sandgroper was the slowly recovering Rowbottom (62) whereas the Barcrawlers had 4 players with scores lower than his, with one being under 30 points. It was here the game was lost for the visitors.

The normally reliable Gray and Hartlett had stinkers with small forward McAdam also going missing for large chunks of the match. Ruckman Lycett (54) (another ex-Sandgroper) couldn’t handle an inspired Grundy (144), going down by 90 points in the Giant Tap.

Banchang posted a more than respectable 1316 but in the end it was no match for the 1445 a red hot Southern Cross outfit put up.

Next up Southern Cross are back on the road/plane to King Island to take on @Tylo ‘s Monarchs, whilst Banchang return home to host @Wolffy84 ’s Horsham Grenades.

    Go Sandgropers!!!

Yep! 1316 wins every other game this round bar one, but that's the way the cookie crumbles......as they say in The Classics

Final score in the goldfields sees the local Prospectors take a convincing win in a low scoring affair against the visiting Pearcedale Panthers @ron swanson

    upload_2021-5-3_8-52-25.png

The locals were hampered by team selection issues, and a forward line that doesn't seem to want to kick goals.
The visitors were hampered by the Village People tryouts, taking it too far with the police officer impersonations and munching on too many donuts!

The big tap was narrowly won by Coolgardie's Oscar McInerney (84) over Pearcedale's Toby Nankervis (77) by 7 points, in a lacklustre effort by both big men.

    The votes:
    3 - B Ellis, Pearcedale, 143 points.
    2 - O Florent, Pearcedale, 117 points.
    1 - J Short, Coolgardie, 116 points.

Next week sees Pearcedale back home to host the biggest losers from Ararat, while Coolgardie is back on the road to the-middle-of-friggin-nowhere Queensland to take on the Prairie Dogs of Hughenden. Good luck to all four teams.

What a boilover at Ararat! *Spoiler Alert* The Crocs devoured the Armadillos!!

In what was an underwhelming game all round, Zak Jones (159) went with an old school POOYA, Taranto (139) lived up to his potential and Shay/Shy/Shitname Bolton (121) were the standouts for the visitors. Special mention to Jordan Clark in the ruck who, with 36 points, was closer to overtaking Gawn than he shouldve been.
Speaking of, locals tore down the statue of the bearded one and rioted in the streets after his dismal 63. Luke Ryan pulled out, which is a neat trick id like him to teach me, and an OOP Curtis Taylor dominated with 9... yes, zero typos - he scored 18 and was therefore credited with 9. Thanks for your playing your career-worst game Curtis!
Elsewhere Tom McDonald (63) didnt enjoy going from front to back and the revival may be over. Gunston tried to outdo him and curtis taylor together by scoring 22, but between Scrimshaw (103) and Hopper (104) the Crocs were deserving winners.

    Round 8 Preview........Banchang v Horsham.

As this is Horsham's first venture to Thailand at a time when we're experiencing 1500-2000 new Covid cases every day, Banchang's Match Committee thought it necessary to let @Wolffy84 know what he and his team need to be aware of, when visiting The Land of Smiles.
    1. Make sure all players have their Vaccine Passport in order, including a negative Covid result taken within the last 72 hrs. (Failure to do so, will result in a 14 day quarantine at each individuals expense, and you'll miss the next 3 games)
    2. Contact Scomo's Government and make sure you'll be allowed back into Australia, without going to jail or being fined.
    3. Masks must be worn at all times when in the public arena.
    4. Only 1 person allowed in each Hotel room (sorry about that but it is, what it is);) wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more.
    5. The game will be played at The Stadium, but without any crowd. (A huge advantage to the visiting team)
    6. As all entertainment venues have been shut down til 15th May at the earliest, including Clubs, restaurants, bars, massage parlours, etc. there will be no Barcrawl after the game, as has been the norm for all visiting teams in the past .
    7. Because Rule No6 is in place, the best we can do is to make sure there is plenty of street food avail, for after the game.
    8. Be thankful the game is in Banchang and not Bangkok.

    Game on.....................

PS: That came over more serious than I intended, but my humorous side has somewhat diminished over the past couple of weeks...for that, I apologise.

Progress score from The Stadium. @Wolffy84
In a lacklustre performance from both teams, the local Barcrawlers are ahead 13/1036/79.7 to 11/758/68.9.
Whilst the home team are having one of their worst games with only 3 players cracking the ton, Markov 113, Lycett 107 and Dawson 104, the visiting Grenades have come to play, but have not handled the local cuisine at all well, with both I/C players falling foul to
" Banchang Belly" and couldn't take their place on the field, as well as injuries during the game having sidelined another 2.
Their defence with Harmes 132, Laird 125, doing an admirable job down back, and Billings 130 and Campbell 101, winning plenty of ball in the middle, unfortunately their forwards haven't been able to convert and with being 3 players down, they've just run out of legs.
However with the mid season draft not too far away, they have the opportunity to really have a great 2nd half to the season, but it's difficult to see Jones Wilson and Kelly for the Grenades making up the 278 difference in this game, and then scoring enough to overtake Banchang's leading points scorer Lyons, and Mitch Robinson playing out of position, to get the 4 points.

Full time at The Stadium and Banchang have defeated Horsham 1216-1020.
With only 13 fit players taking the field and then losing 2 to injuries very early in the game, it was always going to be a bridge too far for the visiting Grenades to come away with the 4 points, but they dug in and showed some grit and it was only the home sides Lyons (145) in the final half that stopped them from taking all 3 places in the BAFFU.
Gisborne now continue their overseas venture and travel to Serengeti to take on the Buffaloes in Rd9, while Banchang are home once again to Christmas Island.

    3. Lyons BB 145
    2. Harmes HG 132
    1. Billings HG 130

The home team were victorious at the Dino Dome by 178 points over an undermanned Prospectors outfit. Final scores

    Hughenden 1,208 defeating Coolgardie 1,030

The visitors were on the backfoot right before the game got underway with Duggan deciding his knee really needed surgery after all and O’Meara feeling sore from the rigors of extended quarters. Astbury (48) and Aish (66) made the trip but it obviously had the side unbalanced. The Big O (54) was out contested in the ruck by Sinclair(66) and with Hughenden’s mids, Oliver (125) and Langford (95) getting the benefit. It was Hughenden’s backline which held solid with Mills (145), DBJ (82), Sheppard (88) and IQ (95) off the bench proving the difference. The only shining lights for the Prospectors were Miller (115), Short (98) and Clark (95).

Hughenden continue their best start to a season since inception when they hit the road taking on the Blowflys and Coolgardie are back home taking on the Parasites.

    The Big Tap
    Sinclair (66) to McInerney (54)

    BAFFU
    3 – Mills (145) –HPD
    2 – Oliver (125) – HPD
    1 – Miller (115) - CP

The staff at Hughenden wish to apologise to all of the Coolgardie fans for the lack of updates over the weekend. However given the result they have been thankful for not being kept updated. @JPK

The ORFFU Tribunal has delivered its verdict on the unsavoury incident that occurred during the Banchng-Horsham match last weekend.

BANCHANG ruckman Scott Lycett has been suspended for three matches by the ORFFU Tribunal for a sling tackle that concussed HORSHAM's Ned McHenry.

Lycett was sent straight to the Tribunal on a rough conduct charge for his tackle in the weekend's match.

The Barcrawlers ruckman didn't contest the grading of his sling tackle, as careless with severe impact and high contact.

He will now miss upcoming games against Christmas Island, Blanchetown and Ararat.

I think the original verdict was 2 weeks but they added an extra week on when they realised how close Lycett had gone to losing Big Tap points to Tom Campbell.
