Hi, This mini draft involves 2 teams - the Dragons @YAD69 and the Jets @Chloe EPD finished 12th in 2023 with a points scored of 6250 in 8 games, while the Jets managed 6264 in 8. In order to boost the teams competitiveness in season 2024 the ORFFW commission have approved a optional mini draft where 2 Free Agent players are up for consideration, maximum one player each for the Dragons and Jets. Unclaimed players will form part of the 2024 ORFFW pre-season draft pool. Jess Good (Carl) was released by the Devils and was a serviceable backup willing to head to greener pastures and secure a #1 ruck position. Aisling McCarthy (Freo, ex WCE/WB) was released by the Mystix who couldn't compete with the offers of free Guiness being sent by carrier pigeon by other ORFFW clubs and the experienced but still young veteran will turbo charge the engine room of any club she plays for. There are no firm rules specified as to how to proceed - maybe the coaches get together with the players behind closed doors and figure out who goes where by mutual agreement ? If not then perhaps they use the shortest straw, best joke told with a 2 minute time limit, winner/loser of last Head to Head matchup,or failing that plain old 2023 ladder position could be the decisive factor. Assuming that the 2024 ORFFW preseason draft proper will kick off on Monday night then I would suggest finalisation of the mini draft no later than 1 pm Melbourne time on Sunday. if that is possible given real life commitments. If its OK with coaches, I didnt realise that Montana McKinnon did her ACL. I'd like to place her on the inactive list and then take Jess Good in the mini draft with Lily Postlewaite delisted. @Chloe is all good with this, which means McCarthy goes to the Jets, with Lauren Butler is the delistee who makes way.
