G'day everyone, and after the excitement that was the opening round we are settling into the season. Get prepared for a massive Round 2!

Darmstadt Dynamos (@WillH_VI) vs. Kyoto Kruisers (@FreoDockers)
While the first round results often need to be taken with a grain of salt, the opening match looks to be a lopsided one with 3rd playing 10th. The Dynamos avenged their 2023 Grand Final loss with a big win over the Llamas, and will be looking to continue their strong form in front of their home fans. The Kruisers will have make the trek across hoping for an upset after a disappointing first round showing. The veteran defence from Kyoto of Kate Lutkins and Kerryn Peterson haven't quite warmed into the season yet, and will have their hands full dealing with the dynamic Darmstadt front three. Not helping the Kruisers case is the injury cloud hanging over star midfielder Georgie Prespakis, which could force another unwanted midfield change.

Quebec Caribou (@FreeKickLiam) vs. Stuttgart Storm (@Jono Steven)
The newly formed Canadian squad couldn't have asked for a better beginning to life in the Premier League, giving their coach a strong away win. Now at home, they will look to take on a Stuttgart team licking their wounds from a poor first round keen to make amends. A coaching grudge match as much as on-field, much will come down to the midfield battle of Garner and Riddell vs Rowbottom and Bates, while the Storm's strong backline will aim to quash a powerful Caribou front line. And exciting match up that could see a 2023 finalist start this season 0-2!

Lagos Royals (@Peter W) vs. Vancouver Vultures (@Athos123)
A narrow loss in the opening round was compounded by a long term injury to the Royals' star forward Bonnie Toogood. To make matters worse, the collision also took out depth forward Amber Clarke, leaving the Royals' depth a challenge to cover the injuries - expect Megan Fitzsimon to come straight in. It wasn't all doom and gloom, however, with Lagos' unheralded midfield scoring very strongly, and are well placed to perform in what will be a tricky match-up against the Vultures. Vancouver played strongly in Round 1 and will feel unlucky to have lost to a very strong opponent, and will be hoping for more from their backline to help curtail opposition scoring.

Korean Kickers (@Chloe) vs Lima Llamas (@hoschke118)
The Kickers started 2024 with a bang, posting up the 2nd highest score of the round thanks to a strong all-round display. Talls Aine Tighe and Mim Strom proved too strong for the Vultures and will look to continue their dominance against the reigning premiers. The Llamas have lost star forward Alice O'Laughlin to suspension though will thankfully have Mikayla Pauga available after a rib injury, but their forward depth will be tested against a strong Korean side shaping as a premiership threat.

    Adelaide All-Stars (@Corza) vs Majorca Islanders (@TheTassieHawk)
The only match this round featuring two teams with winning form looks to be a cracker, pitting Round 1 topscoring newcomer against veteran in an exciting battle. Mystery venue notwithstanding, the All-Stars' strong opening round was built on defence, with a very reliable quartet of Thomas, Schleicher, Goldrick and the born-again Jess Hosking blocking the Storm attacking surges with ease.Sabrina Frederick gave premium service to arguably the most balanced midfield in the competition, with only forward injury and ill-discipline stopping the All-Stars from posting a truly massive score. The Islanders will be glad to not have to deal with the marking threat of Tayla Harris, and will be hoping their young midfield star scan lead them to another victory.
    _ _ _ _ _

Please post your teams here following the team announcements later tonight. There will be a partial lockout at the beginning of the Dogs vs Port game at 4:30PM AEST on Friday, and then full lockout at the start of the Dees vs Lions game at 11:05AM AEST on Saturday.

Good luck to all for Round 2!

The Kruisers have made some sweeping changes this week given the diabolical mess that was dished up in round 1

    Ruck: Lauren Pearce (Tahlia Hickie)
Fwd: Ash Richards, Gabby O'Sullivan, Bella Eddey (Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner)
IC: Montanna Ham, Orla O'Dwyer (Kirsty Lamb)

In: Emma Swanson, Claudia Gunjaca, Orla O'Dwyer, Ash Richards

    In: Bri Davey, Montana Beruldsen
    Out: Alice O'Loughlin, Piper Window

DEF: Gabby Newton, Katie Lynch, Lulu Beatty (Kiara Hillier)
MID: Alyce Parker, Bri Davey, Mia King, Lucy Single, (Amy Gaylor)
FWD: Mikayla Pauga, Montana Beruldsen, Kiara Bischa
    RUCK: Ally Morphett (Tunisha Kikoak)
INT: Dana East, Caitlin Wendland (Piper Window)

    Injury list: Kalinda Howarth
    Suspended: Alice O'Loughlin
Others: Liv Purcell, Lilly Pearce, Yasmin Duursma and Jemma Rigoni

Davey is a big in, but with a suspension and a few still waiting on the sidelines the Llamas are unable to field a forward emergency. A rocky start, but it's early days.

@Peter W you name can one of Briton, Ellenger or Barwick as Fwd Emergency - if the get called upon as an out of position emergency they will be scaled at 50% of their actual AFLW fantasy score.

If @Athos123 submits a team after 430pm today and before 1105am tomorrow any Dogs and Power players will be locked into their round 1 position.

If @Athos123 does not submit a team their round 1 team will carry forward to this week.

Happy to keep my round 1 team if that's ok, got held up at work. Only change I'd even look at is Verrier and I have to go into another meeting in negative one minutes so can't check what their deal is too closely. For others reference that means I will be fielding the following.

DEF: Chelsea Biddell, Elisabeth Georgostathis, Madison Newman (Laura Elliot)

MID: Abbie Mckay, Madison Prespakis, Keeley Sherar, Anne Hatchard (Isabel Dawes)

FWD: Gemma Houghton, Rebecca Privitelli, Eloise Jones (Kellie Gibson)

    RUCK: Stephanie Wales (Sarah Lakay)

INT: Cathy Svarc, Sachi Syme (Ruby Tripodi)

Sorry for the delay everyone, unexpected work incident!

The lineup above is fine @Athos123 - I think Elliot was dropped though so feel free to replace her by 1105am tomorrow provided it is with a non Dogs/WB player.

Finn not playing her over over Hosking cost me and Vescio pick is a spud and will have to play Ella Smith or Ella Friend if Sheriff is out. @TheTassieHawk well done and also Friswell and Randall helped you over the line in the last 2 games.
