After another huge round in SC over the weekend many will be looking to secure a spot in the race for overall, and a fair few more will be looking to shore up their team for a run at league finals. Goldstein went on a scoring spree racking up 221 points, The Little Master pumped out 189 points and I lost 4/6 league matches with a score of 2438. Who knows what this week will bring.
The Best Buy of the round is an absolute machine, racking up 17 tackles after recently returning from injury to prove that he's still got what it takes. 'But Gaz was the Best Buy last week', I hear you cry, when in fact I'm talking about none other than Tom Rockliff. Possibly due to the 189 point score from Gaz Rocky's tackle count appears to have gone mainly unnoticed by most in the football community, after all Ablett also had 17 tackles but added 16 more disposals and 3 goals than Rocky, but these types of efforts are always appreciated by the TooSerious faithful. So Rockliff finally looks to have put his injuries to bed, is a great price and has some good POD potential, making him this weeks Best Buy.
DEFENSE
ROOKIES
Jake Kolodjashnij (GEE) DEF 123.9k 60 +46k
Jake, brother of Kade, has brought himself onto the bubble this week with an average of 60 from his first 2 games after he scored 68 points on the weekend. Priced cheaply at 124 grand he is expected to increase in value by around 46 grand after his next game, and he could be a decent option going forward if he can continue to get games.
Tom Fields (CAR) DEF 102.4k 57 +48k
Fields is also on the bubble this week, averaging 57 after his score of 46 against the Dockers. Priced very well at just over 100 grand he seems to be good value, and will likely rise in price by around 48 grand when he plays again. With Carlton obviously struggling, and a tough task ahead against the Hawks on Friday night, they will look to get games into young players such as Fields which should mean good things for his job security.
MID-PRICERS
Tom McDonald (MEL) DEF 451.2k 100 21.5%
McDonald has been good this year, he started the season in amazing form before dropping off and then coming back into touch, but he has been patchy since that first burst of scoring. A score of 85 on the weekend will see him increase in price by around 24 grand after his next game, and for his average of 100 the price of just over 450 grand is great value.
Michael Hurley (ESS) DEF 454.7k 93 2.6%
Hurley has also been patchy this year, having some big games and some quiet ones but after a poor score of 44 3 weeks ago his form is starting to show an upward trend. Consecutive scores in the 120's now have him facing a price rise of 28 grand after his next match, and with only a 2.6% selection rate he is a big POD.
Josh Gibson (HAW) DEF 448.1k 92 14.6%
Gibson was a bit of an unknown this year, playing well in the pre-season and looking likely to spend more time as a 3rd man up due to recent additions Lake and Frawley, so far he has had some big scores when allowed to do so but injuries have forced him to man up more often than not. With Hodge also in great form Gibbo hasn't achieved the selection numbers many were predicting, and at 14.6% he is still somewhat of a POD. An average of 92 for a price of just under 450 grand is decent value, but he needs to start pumping out some big games.
Sam Docherty (CAR) DEF 450.3k 92 5.1%
Docherty is having a break-out season so far for the Blues, averaging 92 for the season to date and fast becoming one of Carltons more valuable players. Not that there's been stiff competition in this area, but still. Priced at 450 grand and sitting in just over 5% of teams he is decent value and a POD, but really he would be best suited to a bench cover/loophole role this season in SC.
Elliot Yeo (WCE) D/M 475.5k 90 7.9%
Yeo is also having a break-out season, spending more time in the midfield and racking up plenty of disposals when playing with freedom. An average of 90 for a price of 475 grand is slightly over the mark, but not by a great deal, but Yeo has the potential for some big scores and is currently only in around 8% of sides.
PREMIUMS
Alex Rance (RIC) DEF 506.3k 96 16.3%
Rance and Houli have been switching off this season, with one having a couple of big games before going quiet and the other one picking up the slack. An average of 96 is good for your D6 position, but not the best going around, but Rance does have the potential to go 120+ in any given weekend. Now priced at just over 500 grand he is a little bit overpriced for his numbers, but his potential could push him over the line for those coaches looking for a little risk.

MIDFIELD
ROOKIES
James Harmes (MEL) MID 123.9k 58 +44k
Harmes has flown under the radar in his first 2 games, averaging 58 points after a score of 79 in his last outing. An expected price rise of 44 grand will be tempting for a few coaches, as will the price-tag of 124 grand, but job security will remain a concern for the young Demon.
Josh Prudden (WBD) MID 123.9k 50 +34k
Prudden has also flown under the radar a bit, although a few will take notice now that his score of 55 on the weekend has seen his average move to 50 to bring him onto the bubble this round. An expected price rise of 34 grand is on the way after his next game, but as always doubts will remain about him keeping his spot in the side with the Bulldogs continuing to rotate rookies through the squad.
MID-PRICERS
Tom Rockliff (BRI) MID 522.3k 85 16.5%
Rockliff was a bit harshly done by over the weekend I feel, while he did only score 101 points he showed some excellent signs and was a bit unlucky to have Gaz overshadow him so dramatically. On the numbers Rocky is priced cheaply at just over 520 grand, not cheap for his average but definitely for his potential, and he is a big POD (for a player of his calibre) only sitting in 16.5% of teams. Rocky only managed 14 touches against the Demons, and clearly lacked support from the majority of his teammates, but his incredible 17 tackles have proven his ability to score even in tough conditions and given him the title of Best Buy for the week.
Steele Sidebottom (COL) MID 513.1k 103 2.9%
Sidey has been in great form this season, not quite reaching the heights of the competition's heavyweights but consistently playing well and adding some blue-collar grunt to the Pies midfield. Averaging 103 for the season with a price of just over 510 grand he is decent value, and his 117 against the rampaging Eagles shows what he is capable of. A massive POD, sitting in under 3% of teams, Sidebottom is another good option for bench cover/loopholes.
PREMIUMS
Gary Ablett (GCS) MID 700.2k 134 21.1%
Gaz had a day out against the Giants, pushing his price up out of reach of those coaches that decided to hold off on him for another round with a massive score of 189. That score brought his average for the season up to 134 and his price back up to over 700 grand, and after being named the Best Buy the week prior has proven that no curse is a match for the Son of God. His score included 30 touches, 3 goals and a huge 17 tackles, and many SCers picked the perfect time to bring him in as his selection rate nearly tripled between last week and this. If you have the cash, or can get it, bring him in.
Daniel Hannebery (SYD) MID 626.3k 119 16.7%
Hanners was a bit quieter than he has been on the weekend, scoring 102 points to take his average back to 119 for the year. Priced at 626 grand he is a little overs for his average, and is expected to lose around 3 grand after his next game, but as the 5th highest averaging player in SC (and the 4th highest averaging midfielder) with only 16.7% of teams fielding him his POD value will offset any cash loss nicely.
Patrick Dangerfield (ADE) MID 642.1k 119 27.7%
Dangerfield had another strong game on the weekend, pumping out a score of 121 to take his average to 119 for the season. Priced even higher than Hannebery at 642 grand he is the 4th highest averaging player in SC this year, but should still be in contention for most teams. A selection rate of around 28% means he isn't that much of a POD, and the return (again) of Sloane could see a few coaches holding off on him once again.
David Mundy (FRE) MID 561.1k 114 10.8%
Mundy has been in excellent form this season, and has really been a bit harshly done by to be overlooked by so many. An average of 114 is great, as was his 133 against Carlton, and sitting in just under 11% of sides he has some good POD credentials. With Fremantle starting to struggle to score as the season wears on they will be looking for their midfielders to have more of an impact on the scoreboard, and Mundy is the type of player that can snag a few when conditions are right. A good price of just over 560 grand shouldn't do his chances of getting a few more picks any harm either.
RUCK
ROOKIES
Toby Nankervis (SYD) RUC 123.9k 52 +36k
Nankervis has brought himself onto the bubble this week with an average of 52 from his first 2 matches. Priced at 124 grand he is decent value, but obviously only if he can keep getting games. The ruck situation at Sydney is a bit more confusing at the moment, with Tippett increasingly getting ruck time, so an eye on the team sheets would be very beneficial if considering the Swan's big man.
PREMIUMS
Max Gawn (MEL) R/F 504.7k 113 10.6%
Gawn kept his hopes of finishing the year in the group of leading ruckmen for average alive on the weekend, scoring 105 to keep his average at 113. Now sitting in 10% of teams and priced at around 505 grand he offers good value and is a bit of a POD. While he can't be expected to outscore Goldy he is in great form, and if the Demons keep using him as their number one ruckman he is every chance at this stage to continue pumping out good numbers.
Sam Jacobs (ADE) RUC 525.8k 103 13%
Sauce had a huge game on the weekend, scoring 162 points in a performance that would have had people talking in any week where Goldstein didn't score 221. Jacobs has had a bit of a quieter season than many were expecting, averaging 103 so far compared to 115 last year, leaving him in only 13% of teams to date. His price is around the mark at 525 grand but he will need to start stringing some good games together consecutively to make him a popular trade target at this stage of the season.

FORWARD
ROOKIES
Riley Knight (ADE) M/F 123.9k 60 +47k
This week we have a pretty wide range of rookie forwards to choose from, starting with Riley Knight. The Adelaide youngster managed 49 points on the weekend to have his average sitting at 60 from his first 2 games and he will likely increase in value by around 47 grand after his next match. Priced at 124 grand he is good value, and has the highest average of the forward rookie options this week.
Taylor Garner (NM) FWD 123.9k 50 +34k
Garner scored only 35 points in his second match, but that has taken his average down to 50 from his first 2 at the top and will bring with it a likely price rise of 34 grand. Garner has shown promising signs so far in the AFL, but with North's forward stocks he remains a fairly risky proposition.
Ben Lennon (RIC) FWD 180.4k 44 +11k
Lennon has been around before for the Tigers but didn't manage many games and is now on the bubble for this season with a price of 180 grand. His score of 69 on the weekend bumped his average up to 44, and he is facing an 11 grand price rise after his next game. Lennon looks a good player at this stage and could well get a few more matches, but his price and uncertain job security will most likely see the majority avoid him this year.
Jayden Laverde (ESS) M/F 127.3k 41 +21k
Laverde has made the most of his chances at Essendon, coming onto the bubble this week with an average of 41. While the team has been struggling both on and off the field they showed some good signs against North, and Hird has indicated a willingness to play the kids. With any luck Laverde can keep his spot in the current line-up, and his M/F positioning is always a bonus.
Brandon Jack (SYD) FWD 150.5k 36 +8k
Brandon Jack has also been around before, hence his starting price of 150 grand, but also struggled for regular games and has only now brought himself onto the bubble in 2015. An average of 36 isn't ideal, even after his 50 on the weekend, and the brother of Kieren will likely struggle to stay in the side.
MID-PRICERS
Luke Dahlhaus (WBD) FWD 491.7k 104 10.8%
Dahlhaus has been in great form this year, breaking out to average 100+ and spending large chunks of his games in the midfield. A big 143 from 37 touches on the weekend is his career best, and hopefully a sign of what the Dogs can offer in September. Now priced at around 490 grand and sitting in just under 11% of teams Dahl is a well-priced POD, and should be considered by all still looking to fill a forward spot.
Jimmy Bartel (GEE) FWD 466.4k 78 2.3%
Bartel suffered a pretty serious injury early in the year, knocking him out of AFL matches between rounds 4-14. This has seen his average sitting at just 78, and his price drop down to just 466 grand. While those stats don't look ideal for a recruit at this stage of the season he has scored 116 and 101 in his 2 games back and with a selection rate of just 2.3% he has excellent POD value. Another risky selection, but one that could well pay off in spades.
PREMIUMS
Brett Deledio (RIC) M/F 586.2k 111 10.5%
Lids has been in great form since returning from an ongoing Achilles issue, averaging 111 after a big 141 on the weekend and greatly annoying those that traded him out after starting him. A price of 586 grand is slightly over for his stats, but the average alone is well worth considering. Now in around 10% of teams he has good POD value, and if he can stay on the park will be an excellent pick to finish off your forward line.
Jack Riewoldt (RIC) FWD 531.4k 102 3.7%
Another Tiger in good form Riewoldt has been spending periods playing further away from goal this season to good effect. Averaging 102 for the year after his 112 against the Saints he is slightly overpriced at 530 grand but always has the potential to kick a bag. Sitting in only 3.7% of sides JRoo is a huge POD, and one worth considering if you're looking for a little risk.
Chad Wingard (PTA) FWD 520.7k 98 7.5%
Wingard appears to be slowly getting back to his AA-best form, kicking a fair few goals in recent weeks and bringing his average up to 98 for the season so far. His score of 122 on Sunday helps of course, as does his selection rate of 7.5%, but his marginally high asking price of 520 grand and the fact that he is still averaging under 100 will likely see him overlooked by most.
Dayne Zorko (BRI) M/F 554.1k 96 7.5%
Zorko was named in the Best Buys last week after a poor start to the year, and repaid the faith with a score of 145. This has meant his average is sitting on 96 for the season and his price just over 550 grand. While those numbers don't look particularly enticing his lowest score in the last 4 games of 119 shows he is really starting to hit his straps, and he could well be a difference maker come SC finals.
