Paine out for the summer. Interesting. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-12-14/more-surgery-for-frustrated-paine/3730704/?site=sydney Who will Hobart Hurricanes use as their keeper? Ponting won't risk it and won't play much. So I reckon they might use Cosgrove lying sideways as a form of long stop.
@TheTassieHawk I know maxwell hasnt played before so is a bit of a gamble but from what Ive seen of the shield and one dayers he can bat quickly and he can bowl a bit too. It might depend on where he is in the batting order I guess. Thanks Lucas i hadnt looked into the scoring system yet so thats really helpful to know some of that
@lucas - tom triffit will be the hobart keeper - he was brought in for evan gulbis a few days ago - he should go OK as a cheapie assuming he gets uploaded to the BBL fantasy site in time !!
Nice I might have to include Triffit as my bench keeper just to make money. Though not sure if that will work quite as well as other sports
The stupid thing is that teams stop when then pass the total so not all the batsmen get to bat. But it could stop you losing runs for players who would've got ducks.
Some key things to note about scoring: Bowlers aren't penalised for wides or no balls. However they score terrible points, if he doesn't bat or get a wicket, you're looking at a donut unless they have a good SR. Run outs includes everyone, which gives a slight bonus to bowlers/wicketkeepers.
No penalty for wides and no balls at least gives Tait half a chance... Thoughts on Tait Vs Nannes anyone?
Triffit is one to jump on He's been loaded up I think the whole naming of players a day before the tournament is a bit amateur hour. Might have to rethink picking Birt (thinking he'd get all those juicy catching pts) Would love to know if anyone has a clue on the composition of each team's 12 before the matches. I'd suggest the only one that's fairly confirmed is the Sixers as they have a lot of injured or Test players.
ok - giving it a crack in the 'Arf Serious league, as this pretty-well describes my knowledge of the big bash!
For Lucas & others: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-12-13/big-bash-league-season-guide/3729472?section=sport
I have managed to comeup with the following starting XI and will have 4 "as cheap as possibles" on the bench hopefully I haven't included anyone who is injured, rested or playing in the Chairman's XI instead vc - HARRIS, Daniel ADL $106300 HUSSEY, David MELS $94600 COSGROVE, Mark HOB $65100 BAILEY, George MELS $62100 capt - GAYLE, Chris SYDT $113100 COLLINGWOOD, Paul PER $81800 CROSTHWAITE, Adam ADL $65300 RIMMINGTON, Nathan PER $77500 NANNES, Dirk MELR $71000 PATTINSON, James MELS $65600 ***** HILFENHAUS, Ben HOB $63600 ** this salary cap is defintely hard to fit into - if pattison isn't playing I will need to take a punt on a cheap bowler or downgrade elsewhere to be able to afford a more expensive bowler !!
