Just heard on this evenings news that Adelaide Strikers all-rounder Kieron Pollard injured a hammy in a practice match and is in doubt for the first match on Sunday
not sure how reliable this is but contains possible squads for game 1 of the BBL:- http://www.brisbaneheat.com.au/news/article/2011-12/rd-1-heat-v-sixers-preview anyone tempted by hazlewood or maddison for the 6ers or any of the heat youngsters (subject to inclusion)?
TooSerious league – 708389 - FULL The Boys Club - 885872 - FULL 425146 - FULL TooBashful – 489453 - FULL 'Arf Serious – 443055 - FULL TSCC - 511757 – 2 SPOTS LEFT AT 920am SPLIT BOX – 898244 – 1 SPOT LEFT AT 920am Given there are only 3 spots open above I have started a new league for any coaches who are looking to join last minute (or have a 2nd TS league to compete in) TSnoOFFSEASON (360282) – 7 other Teams needed!!!
OK I'm in 511757. Think I've got a pretty strong team, anyone else worried that Maxwell, Quiney and Rohrer aren't listed in their teams best XI in that ABC link?
Some of the starting XIs look a little rubbish I reckon. Would be surprised if say Kruger got a gig with the Hurricanes, and someone like Drew/Thomas didn't get a match over Putland/Richardson for Adelaide. I reckon people looked at the Ryobi and put the state teams in not knowing which ones changed teams. Cooper 190 against India, surely would now be a real option to consider in your team. Even for a rookie downgrade to get some money. For mine I will start probably with Lynn, then look to use trades for upgrades and Cooper is the ideal downgrade target. It does bring a quick option to have a brilliant player in my team to start (e.g. Warner) and then trade down, but I think I will go a more conservative GNR path while avoiding test players altogether. I must say I was very concerned when Katich was raised as a chance at a Test recall.
@lucas - me too, especially when the mercury reckons trigffit hit around 81 off 30 balls in an intrasquad practice midweek !!
Butterworth from Sydney. @Lucas I looked at Lynn, to me doesn't have a lot of experience at Twenty20. My basement price bargain in the Batters is Liam Davis from Perth, he will fill a need. Will be interested how they do price changes, I'm guessing its going to be based just on one weeks results, which will result in a lot of fluctuation?
Subject to team selections, going with Warner, Blizzard, White, M Cosgrove (E Cowan) Hopes, Marsh (L Buterworth) Wade (Triffitt) McKay, Lee, Nannes, Harwood (Hazlewood)
i swa on ABC website (i thnik) that cosgrove is likely to miss rd 1 but will be coming back in rd 2 to replace ponting !!
D.Harris, D.Hussey, C. White, E. Cowan, T Cooper C. Gayle, J. Hopes, L. Butterworth B. McCullum, T. Triffitt C. McKay, D. Nannes, B. Hogg, K. Richardson, N. Buchanan But hey could all change wildly before lockout...
Only a few hours left and most leagues filling up. For those with spare league slots who want more chances at the top league prize, there's still. 2 for 22 Serious - 311049. TSnoOFFSEASON - 360282 (4 spots left)
Pollard out for the whole Big Bash: http://www.espncricinfo.com/big-bash-league-2011/content/story/545584.html
Haha to all those who locked in Pollard, such as the whole Adelaide team hahaha! Cosgrove is out round 1 because he's a fat lump. An article in the Mercury hinted as much (we have him out because he doesn't fit "team balance") On the rookies: Bats - Maddinson v Lynn v Davis v Cooper v Rohrer All Rounders - Butterworth v Edwards (slightly more than rookie but given the Thunder's bowling division is non existent surely he will get wickets) Wicketkeeper - Triffit clearly Bowlers - Hazlewood (interesting though people are writing good things about Richardson)
@ Lucas Of those Bat rookies listed, Cooper is a near lock in the Strikers team, so will have plenty of opportunity to make some cash. Triffit definitely the clear cut WK rookie As for Bowlers, Richardson is one of Berry's favourites in 1 day & T20 formats and will be given good opportunities.

Hussey, Katich, Cowan Gayle, Afridi, Day Crosthwaite, Triffitt Rimmington, Nannes, Starc, Hazelwood, N. Buchanan Cheers guys!
The question is can you afford two rookies to allow two guns? If it's like AFL you probably need to do this to prosper - to pick say Maddinson and Cooper, Hazlewood and Richardson, and let that appreciation of their $ value go up to get you into the best players. By the way, I have done a rating calculation based on the players past T20 performances. Best 20 players FWIW: Afridi 75 Gayle 71 Pollard 67 (INJ) Watson 64 (INJ/TEST) Hogg 61 (comeback?) Razzaq 60 D Harris 59 S Marsh 59 (INJ/TEST) M Hussey 57 (TEST) Rana Naved 56 Drew 55 Lockyear 55 (form?) McDonald 54 Finch 53 D Hussey 52 Hodge 51 (INJ) McKay 50 Vettori 49 (INJ) Simpson 49 Hayden 47 (comeback?) I'm not that keen on Daniel Harris, so therefore I'm not loading up my batsmen as much as I could if I just had faith in Maddinson/Cooper. Hazlewood should get a great run with the spate of injuries (or players in Test selection) that have afflicted the 6ers. He's picked to play tonight, so just needs one wicket and maybe a catch to go up a fair bit of money. I'm thinking of going Cooper over Lynn but the rest of my side is fairly settled. That's until I change it again.
