I think we should push the draft a little later, we had only one round of NAB before we were picking. Guess it depends on the AFL pre-season format for next also... Just on this point, I want to put forward that I like the draft to be before the preseason games, and would prefer it if the whole draft was finished before the first preseason game. We would need to know the dates (and possibly format) of the preseason cup to make the decision, but I wanted to put it out there. I personally think the draft should start the day (or the day after) SuperCoach opens for 2014 - usually Feb 1st each year.

Why Ant? We don't have anywhere near the same amount of knowledge of the players as the AFL clubs... moving it to before pre-season will make it an absolute stab in the dark. I'm not a fan of that idea.

We are all on a fairly even playing field at that stage; whereas, once the games start up, the people that watch the games have a big advantage.

At a vote I would be siding with PSD period staying same or (given option) extending by a week

I'm not sure if you are 'taking the micky' here or not ant, but I would have thought that if you can't be arsed watching the NAB cup (or whatever pre-season comp exists) as part of your pre-season research you are in the wrong game..

Prob not Too Serious enough for this site, but I very rarely watch any of the preseason games. I would like to though :( ... Anyway, I like having drafts early, same with other sports, but it is just an idea that I wanted to throw around, and I'm not fazed whenever it is. I do think its fairer to have it earlier..

I would, if I may, just like to take Mickey out for a cup of coffee. /Portals/0/User%20Images/Mickey-Mouse-Mickey-with-Coffee-Original.jpg Living where I am, I don't get to see any of the NAB games and only see some of the H&A a few weeks after they have played. Have never felt disadvantaged by this and compensate by intensifying my research on the net and asking chels who I should pick.

I too have indulged heavily on the 'ask chels' option, I am beginning to understand certain outcomes :p

Perhaps we should compare notes next season. Pretty sure he suggested I grab anyone starting with Tom and you take anyone who sounds remotely like Mitch, then give them a thorough grounding in pig shooting.

A thorough grounding in pig shooting is but one of the pre-requisite skill set required of a potential Waikik recruit. Christian- and sur-names are important, as is numerology. Avoidance of travel sickness is also vital. A sound knowledge of silverside cooking and sarnie production are also an advantage - needlepoint and choral singing less so. I am also beginning to move towards the option suggested by some of the match committee that some footy skills and nous would come in handy.

Shirley you jest, let's keep the discussion relevant to football :)

Hey TiB, its funny, the only year I have seen any of the NAB cup over the last 5 years or so was in 2011 when I was in Vietnam :) 'Australia TV' had heaps of AFL on it, over there. I thought they broadcast to Thailand as well. Do you not get it there?

I believe it is hereabouts ant, provided you have the $800 for a dish and a box, or you live in an expatriate condominium, or you wish to frequent some of the 'Aussie' bars on the Bangkok side of the river. I also hear that if you live in the rural areas you can get free access (with the right dish, pointed in the right direction). Not really tempted by any of these options for the benefit of days of our lives, blue hills, celebrating chefs or how I should invest in Southbank.

$800 for a dish in a box seems expensive for Thailand.

It is. You can get the piddley dishes that pick up all the crap (in fact they seem to be replacing antennas), but the units designed to revolve and can pick up the satellite that has AusTV (think it is bounced from Indonesia) seem to be mainly intended for groups (condos, apartments, etc.). Prices may have dropped since I last enquired, which is a while back now.

I have a question - TiB are you prepared to be nominated for the position of ORFFA Commissioner for the next year or should we begin an 'executive search'?
Naturally this question does not preclude anyone from standing against TiB for Commissioner, I just want to clear the air about TiB's availability early on in the process
