Sainter, I read the same or similar article. There was another which mentioned the same thing back in the Summer when they were over there.
Based on that, it does seem like an expensive luxury.

With Port having a bye in rd 12 teams wont be too affected. Plus with Jobe due back that week my mids will survive. Let's hope he starts churning out 150+ when he's back.

Really got no issue with Collingwood sending him and others over there. For mine, I think it'll have only a negligible impact on him mid-season ... I don'tknow if it would be better that he just rest for a week or two and take it easy.

    But that's Collingwood's call.

But guys playing with injuries and then having their clubs come out and say they are going to have to be rested/treated/ etc is nothing new.

I remember a few years back Chris Judd spent the second half of the season running around on half a groin (if that's anatomically possible) - everyone new he was playing hurt - he admitted it, the club admitted it and all involved said the injury needed treatment (rest).

Judd toughed it out for a little while and then both he and WCE pulled the pin to get it treated. I can see some parallels with the Swan situation - everyone knows he is injured, and everyone knows that he is going to have to get treatment.

The only slight difference is that Collingwood have nominated a date for that treatment to occur.

I was happy to hear this from an SC perspective for two reasons....
    I don't have him
The team I'm playing rnd 12 round does......until I saw he traded him out last week????

I agree - if he's injured and needs treatment, then treat it.

Why play an injured player? Surely missing a week or two to right the injury is better than nursing him through it week in week out, risking the player to worsen the injury and then be out for 4+ weeks in the back half of the season.

    I meant trade him out!

I also have no issue with him being sent. Who cares really? They can play who they want really.

To add to this though, I agree with others in that if he's injured and he's being treated why is he playing this week, and if he's OK to play this week, then why is he going for treatment the week after.....

It's obviously a niggling injury, but they would hate for it to blow out this week and become a major injury....

I reckon that the Arizona trip has done wonders for the Pies.

The only question is when we get caught for EPO haha

Injecteroo Swannie we need you back in action for the last half of the season

Makes you wonder if he's any chance of being subbed on/subbed off on Saturday night.

Nah. He's playing about 100 pace, depending on when the Pie surge happens has scaled him down the past few weeks.

Swan will churn out another 100 or so (could be 80-120) and then take off on the EPO holiday.

So long as he comes back the Swanny of old I couldn't care. It just pains me to see him like this.

Thing is, I think he was always going to miss a game; why not have an extended break and come back cherry ripe?

The bigger danger I fear is him not being ready to play Sydney on return

Lucas - I reckon that Sydney game might be a big concern. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he doesn't play.

I agree Chris- makes it a very interesting decision if you think he'll miss 3 though, doesn't it!

I dunno Lucas, I could easily imagine Mick pulling him off at 3qtr time if they're up by 5 goals or so, I honestly couldn't see the benefit in keeping him out there. Sorta like Jobe Watson staying out on the park just that little bit too long against Brisbane. Different situation I know, but still.

Wouldn't suprise me at all if Blair (or someone to that effect) was named on the bench and wore the green vest, then got subbed on at 3qtr time for Swan.

That's my pure speculative 8-ball moment for the round :)

Lucas, you are my kryptonite. You tell me not to get Watson , I do & he gets injured. Last week you talked me out of trading Swan (had him all year) and my fears are realized. Tell me mate, what should I do about Swanny now?

Love it how a Saint fan making an observation, has the hackles up on the woods fans (bar Lucas). If you step back from the situation, what he is saying makes sense.
If he is injured enough to miss next week, why play him this week!

As if the St Kilda game is that important that he is needed... its 2nd playing 11th.

They should fly the whole team to Arizona and leave them there
