Gaff is my tip for rising star- should feature in most games barring injury, has great skills and will be looked at as a key part of a rebuilding midfield, lacking foot skills.
Smokey alert....Caddy instead of Swallow... Training reports from bigfooty sound really good. The Shuey/Folley/Mclean experiment could pay off but is also high risk with injuries. Bring on the Pre-Season for a clearer picture.
Seems there's going to be a lot of GC mids to keep an eye on! That's makes me happy as not every team will be the same!
Foley isnt 100% set to play round 1 is he though? Thought there was still doubt with him. Ill have to have a search for the article that i read that on,but Tiger supporters will know more then me.
All teams won't be the same if we don't do the same group think like most of us do each year. That's why I think it's not that critical we do 'rate your team' analysis but more that we talk about getting the structure of the team right. I'm thinking 13 guns, 7 underpriced, 13 rookies if the 33 man team is announced. Not sure how viable that is - probably determined by how many $ are burned on the rookies this time. GC will be the interest point from early in the season and as such there may be some tasty options from other clubs ignored. And remember GC has two early byes so they won't translate as quickly into upgrades. I stress caution on GC cash cows on that front. For late upgrades and coverage for your team post round 9 you'd suggest very strong as their list is an inch deep.
I am tempted to have a few dollars on Jacobs for the Rising Star. Will be in the starting 18 for Port. Jacobs and Hartlett will definitely be in my SC. Hartlett has been training very well, finally over the small tissues injuries that plagued him last season. He is the Roll's Royce of the Port midfield.
Hartlett is a name I havent seen thrown around much yet, interesting.... Been playing with structure a bit over the weekend(quiet one with the BDO next weekend). got a few very nice players in with 11/6/11/5 on Fanplanner. (Thats Premium/Mid/Cheap/Rookie). I want a few more in the Prem/Rookie classes and less in the mid/cheap ranges, yet 100k is considered cheap and with 1st rounders and GC players taking a slight premium over other years 11 maybe isn't enough. Went through each team and picked my 6 mid ranged breakout players based on a few things, Teams that had a few retirements, eg Crows, could see a lot more run for players like Dangerfield. Upcomming stars, Guys that play their position better than others on the list so will likely never get dropped, (injuries exempt). Got my list for Rising Star down to 5 guys, yet because the voting is done off a panel I'm sure that it will come from GC so they have something to put in their trophy cabinet. It would be depressing walking into an upgraded stadium to then walk past a brand new trophy cabinet only for it to be empty....
@da bombers You'd like to think the rising star went to the right kid! Gold coast have surely got enough concessions over the last 2 years. Hamish Hartletts injury was perfect timing for me as he has now made me re think Drummond, and cemented my belief to stay away from foley, adcock and higgins.

With the byes this year, injury prone players are off the radar almost completely. I'd rather us my extra trades for extra upgrades.
I tend to agree Lucas - if you want him as a cash cow then he's gonna be too expensive. if you think he'll score well enough and consistently enough to be a mid keeper then lock him in - but remember who he is sharing the midfield with (Gazza, Rischatelli and Harris to name a few). Say he scores well in his first few games after the rnd 1 bye for GC- then you know he's the real deal and bring him in then I say.
Would be hilarious if he was. He'd make about 10% of teams then who would pick on No1 Draft Pick reputation.

Quote from Moonwalker on January 31, 2011, 08:23 Is Swallow now worth $337,500? That would make things interesting.
He can show himself out if he is!
all the prices on FanFooty have changed. swallow showing $172,500. does he have a little pre release info perhaps? only noticed coz my team suddenly had an extra half a million dollars under the cap and I thought I must have taken someone out and for got to replace him.
