Given it is a tied vote, my suggestion was going to be this prior to the discussion: "As you can pass on your pick in the second round should you wish, then I suggest we carry forward a two round draft, as coaches who only want to draft in the first round still can, and those who want to have a second crack at the dispersal round players can." This may be contested given some of the discussion, but I thought I was pretty clear with my initial post where I said it would be like any other draft, other than the ability to defer a pick to the PSD? Did I miss something... do we go back to the start? I'll be honest, I am losing the will to live on this.... the debates, the chasing people to vote, the running through the options (we haven't even got to pick allocation format yet)... it all takes my time to arrange.
No confusion at all, my statement was tied to a one round dispersal draft. The statement I made was in relation to the 2nd round in that scenario.
For the ORFFA coaches that voted for a 1 round dispersal draft is there a type of 2 round draft that if implemented would result in you voting for a 2 round draft, for instance a snake order draft? If there is let us know what format of draft it is. Maybe we can try and get an outcome that way.
OK, so we go a two round draft then? How about I give everyone 72 hours to object... if no objection I will move forward to the next piece of the puzzle. As @dmandrews alledued to, my next post will be around the format of the draft. (reverse order, snake or lottery)
Im not sure we need to vote on whether it should be a snake draft. I think if two rounds, snake should be a given for a draft like this. Would anyone object to this? If you do want to decide that by vote, I suggest that it should be two separate polls, one to decide if snake or standard, and then the next to decide on the order of picks.
GIven we currently don't run a snake draft, I think it should be voted on. It's the only way to find out if anyone would object to it People who voted for two rounds of drafting might have assumed it was reverse order This is why one round would have been so much easier (relax, this last comment is a joke folks)
I haven't had time to follow this much but the OP says it will be treated like any other draft. Given we don't run snake drafts ordinarily, not sure it could be assumed it would be a snake draft.
I'm mid-table so my pick won't change much either way but, If it ends up two rounds, I'm probably in favour of just running it as we normally would rather than a snake draft. I know the circumstances are different here, but drafts are generally used as equalisation measures. I'm not saying that has to be the intention here but, with admittedly little knowledge of the players in the dispersal pool, I'm not sure giving the top four teams two cracks at the best 20 players from that pool via a snake draft does much to improve competitive balance across the league either? I may be on the wrong track but just thought it might something to consider.
