I'd personally like to take a break between rounds, even if it is only a day or two, just to catch up and regain my breath
I don't think we should be drafting during the NAB, it favors teams that luckily get a pick at the end of the first few nab games, the rookies that no one has picked yet that have a great first nab game, will get drafted straight away. Some coaches don't get picks for days, so they would miss out on the players we have forgotten and have stared early. If my pick lands around the first few games, I'll be taking my time to pick, watch the game and hope I find a breakout player. i think drafting semi blind puts more emphasis on good scouting and risky picks. Maybe super draft day on a set date, after nab with reverse order draft, could work, strict rules should be enforced, 1 hour limit, this insures we finish. We have a few weeks to find a date that works for all. It could entice coaches to trade with insider for first pick after nab ;-)
Personally, I think the draft should just keep going - in the current order. I plan on getting 30 players on my list and if I cop a LTI with someone that I am happy to drop, then I can bring in one of the rookies/lower averaging players that I bring in with picks 27-30.
Oh and sorry I forgot to write, I think 26 total should be drafted, not more then culled. 20 before nab starts. Then 6 after nab on super draft day/weekend
im not sure we are going to get a majority vote on any of the options so maybe commish needs to just lay down the law and make a call in the best interest of the league? what do you think tomster? if we are doing a vote then id be forno gap in between rd 20-26, max squad size of 26 (no stock piling to use as tradebait) and not really fussed about draft order - even though im fairly certain in the rules it says reverse order i.e. id get first pick! but like i said, my preference would be for commish to rule with an iron fist here just so everyone knows whats goin on and theres no grey areas
I'm getting a bit excited now hey It would be cool to do someone research over the nab, without the stress of drafting and life.
'We have 2 drafts, with a trade period in the middle. Drafts will be in snake order. Draft 1: As soon as the positions for 2014 are released. We draft 20 players, and the draft goes for as long as it takes. If you don't take your pick within 24 hours you get the highest averaging player from 2013 that is yet to be selected. Trade Period: From the end of the first draft until the start of the second draft. Draft picks can be traded. Draft 2: During the last week of the NAB Cup. We start the draft on the Monday, then finish it on the Friday when the NAB Cup GF is played. 6 players are drafted. If you somehow manage to trade in such a way that you end up with 27 players, or 25, then you can either draft to fill up or delist to take away. ' as per Tomster's last post on the subject, as far as I can ascertain. If there's been an update to this that I've missed, then please delete my previous ramblings. But unless things change as per a new vote, then I reckon that is the way it will happen....

While I see where you're coming from, I don't see how this [span style='line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: #434343; font-size: 10.5pt;]perceived favouritism is any different to those who had picks in the first 6 of this draft, compared to those who had the last 6 and had to wait until the 12 'best' players were already selected. I still don't see how we can put a solid cap on 26 players, end of story, when we've already said that trades can be whatever for whatever, as long as they're not vetoed. Or are we now going to restrict how people are allowed to trade?
on a side note... EE, when you update the team lists again, can u move Geary to DEF only... he is not DPP. As much as I would love to have another DPP on the books, he is not one!
I'm with Choppers on this. If that is the last that was said on the matter, back when everything was being decided, then I'm happy for it to stay that way. It gives everyone a week of nab to have a look at players. Although we will need to be on the ball to get 6 rounds done in 5 days. I don't like the idea of drafting passed 26. Extra drafting should only be for those who have traded out more than they have traded in IMO.
Very well. The problem with drafting 6 rounds in 5 days is that we don't have the track record to show we can do it. Our best five days drafting are 24, 22, 21, 20, and 18 picks per day - totalling 105 picks at an average of 21. We NEED to do 108 picks at an average of 21.6 so just selecting our best five days show's we're unlikely to be able to do it. To prove me wrong we'll need absolutely everybody's complete 'TOO SERIOUS' commitment for the entire week.
I gotta agree with JPK here.....we don't have a good track record over 5 consecutive days, so it's a tall order and will need everyone's commitment ......
As a suggestion, how about starting the second round of drafting after the first half of nab, ie after game 9? That would give us 9 days to get thru the last 6 rounds. I think it would be good to see some nab games before we finish drafting.
<strong style='color: #000000;]Draft 2: During the last week of the NAB Cup. We start the draft on the Monday, then finish it on the Friday when the NAB Cup GF is played. 6 players are drafted.[/b] <strong style='color: #000000;] [/b] So you're suggesting we start the 2nd draft of 6 players at 8am Friday, 21st February, instead of Monday, 24th, after all of the 18 clubs have played 1 NAB game. If that's the case, Tylo, then I like it. The extra 3 days are also over the first weekend and should allow us that little bit of extra time to get through 108 picks, which was a bit of a concern, I must admit. Great suggestion.
I entirely agree with Tylo. Shall we make the second round start on Friday, and go until we are done (hopefully as early as possible e.g Wednesday)
Go for it, Commish. 108 picks over 9 days also drops our daily av. to 12, which is roughly what we're achieving now I think.
We're halfway thru Rd 19 now, so if we complete Rd 20 by this Thursday evening hopefully, that then gives us a 2 week Trading period until the 2nd Draft commences on Friday, 21st. Aha! I thought that date Fri, 21st rang a few bells......I'll be without internet from 21st to 25th at 11am, as I'm heading off to Melaka, Malaysia for that period. I'll need to give someone my selections......I hope you're reading this, Eagle Eyed.......lol!
fuck a bloke pops out for a few hours for footy training and look at all the productivity that happens while he's gone!?!? good work clearing shit up commish. now if you can just make a ruling on the overdrafting/+26 players issue i think everyone will be sorted yeah?
