Anyone know what time it is, say in Brazil, at the moment? I suppose thats a fair excuse actually. In general, South America is approximately 12 hours behind Australia (obviously there's variations in timezone depending on exactly where you are). So basically, its around midday on Tuesday in Australia, so its around midnight Monday-Tuesday in South America.
Watching my targets fall one by one, Wingard, Bennell, O'Meara, Kruezer. Damn you all! Going to have to rethink my next pick!

So getting back to my hotel after a day in the BA sun I decide to check the draft to see if TTT has taken his pick, only to find it's back to me already. Now, should I be responsible, realise that any pick is going to be a combination of heat exposure, red wine and protein overdose so I should sleep it off, or do we keep this train rolling? There's really only one answer to that - the next addition to the Smugglers FWD will be announced shortly. p.s drunken/jet lagged drafting should be illegal.

Impressive effort! and another interesting pick to wrap the head around

After less than 24 hours without checking, I return to the draft thread to see many picks taken! Well done on the swift movement. I feel like Christmas is back on track after the Grinch (Mick) stole it. Only problem is, there is no present for me yet. Oh well, not long now. Please Santa, let it be a ruckman
Hey Tomster, I'll be sending around the boys to give you a slapping the Barracuda way. GROOTE EYLANDT FOOTBALL CLUB, GEFC, Barracudas & Cudas are the only approved names & spelling! Let's hope our number one ticket holder doesn't get wind of this, there maybe a verbal lashing on the airwaves.
The Sandgropers have continued with their recruiting of local boys with the addition of Buddy. Hoping with contract distractions out of the way and the Swans dominant midfield he can return to his pre 2013 output and elite forward status. More WA boys have been identified to follow in the draft.
OK guys, as Draft hand I'm getting increasingly frustrated by the number of selections being made each day. Granted we all have things to do and can't be checking if it's our selection all of the time, however I would have thought that we should all be able to select at least 1 player each per day! Due to other selections I have now taken 2 players in 4 days, and most of the guys at the top of the order have not had a second pick in over 3 weeks. I firmly believe we need to take some action, maybe 1 day is too long, maybe it should be 6 hours, surely if we have all selected to be emailed when replies are posted on the draft thread then a 6 hour window would be enough to upload a post (Damo & Holky possibly the exceptions). This initial draft is supposed to be one of the most exiting periods of our time in the league and rather than being fun it is turning into a waiting game as there is minimal momentum between picks and it is taking forever for our squads to take shape. At this rate will we even be ready for round 1? Healthy constructive discussion required, please contribute so we can create some possible solutions and then vote on them. Cheers
JPK wrote: Hmm, Relton and Tambling. There's some quality picks that I didn't do enough research on! The first pick was a ruckman, the second pick was a mid, we're now 5 picks down and still haven't seen a forward (Danger doesn't count) or backman picked. What's everyones tip on which coach will pick the first back / fwd, and who will that selection be? With a decade still to play footy, I think Buddy would make a good long-term selection. Its just a matter of if he keeps playing out his days, and if he keeps scoring. I won't be surprised if he goes in the second round. I'd be surprised if a pure-back gets picked in the first two rounds, but definitely in the third round. In the meantime, there'll probably be a couple of mid-def DPP's selected. You picked it JPK! Once Danger, Wingard & to a lesser extent Martin were taken it really didn't leave too many premium/elite FWD options available. I didn't want to risk being left with an average FWD line and even with a poor year in 2013 Buddy still averaged 90. Hopefully with Sydney's midfield and Jessinta by his side he can get back to a 100+ average. It really wouldn't surprise me to see him start destroying teams again, the Swans will play through him as I could see Tippet pinch hitting in the ruck to give Pyke a chop out, making Buddy their number 1 forward.
I agree with this, in general. Things are taking way too long, and if it takes us the best part of a week to get through each round then we won't be ready in time for round 1. I'm not sure that 6 hours is the way to go, especially 'overnight' (timezones permitting), but surely we can get through more picks each day then we currently are. If anyone hasn't set up email notifications, then they really should - this will help heaps. I realise that people travel, have lives and responsibilities outside of TS, and can't always get on the internet on a whim, but this should not be an excuse for the snails pace that we seem to be travelling at. I think we should press on until the end of round 4, but after that if the rate hasn't picked up significantly, then we may need to be more drastic with the allowances for not making selections. I know when we did the SC draft league, everyone had to be online at the one time, and we had a time limit of minutes (maybe it was just one minute). It might be worth us considering doing this - pick a date and make sure that everyone can be online at that time, and we just draft and draft and draft.... Thats my two bobs worth.
I know what you're saying, I'm feeling the frustration too. I'm back at work tomorrow and was really hoping to be into the 5th round at least by now. That said, I agree with JPK, a 6 hour limit isn't practical. We all need to sleep and not everyone can get on at work. If we can get everyone online at once for a couple of hours that would be great but I don't like our chances. Other than that I don't know what measures can be taken other than to plead with everyone to check in as regularly as possible.
I'm new to this Draft caper but I would have thought that 20 selections in 4 1/2 days, since Mick returned, wasn't too bad for this time of the year, but agree that, if the pace doesn't pick up considerably closer to start of NAB time, then we may be in a spot of bother, completing selections prior to Rd 1. I think it's a bit early to start throwing time limits around now though. Also, this isn't a problem for me as I'm retired and have plenty of time on my hands, although sometimes the internet connection can be somewhat unreliable. That's my 20 baht's worth.
Hey Coaches, I've got to agree with you. I think it's a combo of picking each day as quick as we can, having a couple of hours on a particular day (this Sunday would be good) and then having a reduced time period to 12 then 6 then 4 etc. until done. A quick game is a good game.
