Round 6 Match Report: [span style='font-size: 16px;]Eden Whalers 1274 vs Pakenham Parasites 1183 One week we lose to Southern Cross, next week we beat the top placed team. I guess we just play it week by week, Aish is in fine form and will go onto the midfield line this week and we did well to restrict the Parasites' mid-range players and Roo. Good win and after this week I'll put up the first 7 rounds B+F votes.

You say this like losing to the Sandgropers is something to be ashamed of ;) I don't think I've managed to get my first choice team on the park once this season. Some corrective drafting in the mid season and some relatively high picks over the next 2 seasons will seeus asa force in 2016. By then it'll be SCS 3 EW 0 :)

[span style='font-size: 16px;]Coolgardie Prospectors 1163 vs Eden Whalers 1033 Looks like the Prospectors got the late finish and drinks (except for our 'water' bottles, thanks to Crusher for that one). Tom Lynch's 'in rocks we trust' comment didn't go too well but our midfielders played well, now to go into mid-season with pick 6 to start (13th) and 3-4. Not the best but doing alright. Now to regroup and prepare for the 2nd half. And to announce the round by round votes for the Mick Kirkby award named after the guy who founded the SCAFL club in 1983:

4 players have walked the plank back into the draft pool: Phil Davis, Matt Fuller (cheap import), Andy Otten and Fraser Thurlow. They will be replaced with better players from the free agency.

After a big MSD trading/draft period, Eden have announced their new 2014 team. First the changes: Otten, Fuller, Davis and Thurlow are out (delisted). Alex Rance was shipped to King Island during a Mad Monday prank but it still counts as a trade, we got Josh Jenkins for him. Coming in from the Draft Pool are Jack Trengove, Easton Wood, Andrew Phillips and Jamie Bennell. Eden Whalers 1127 lost to Christmas Island Smugglers 1338 OK, we were short a few players, but our stars can't carry the team. Half of our players thought it was still bye week! Only 2 scored 90+ and Suban missing out with his best score... But that game's passed, let's focus on this week vs Ararat. Votes: Malceski: 5, Boomer 4, Jones 3, Lyons 2, Stanley 1 Leaderboard: Jones 23, Malceski 18, Boomer 16, Curnow, Thompson 11, May 9, Griffen 7, Hale, Mitchell, Aish 5, Lynch 4, Rance, Lyons 2, Reilly, Stanley 1

[span style='font-size: 16px;]Eden Whalers 1235 vs Ararat Armadillos 1157 Great win guys, Rowe standing up as a backup ruckman almost beating Minson. The regulars returning to form also helped for that win, great effort from Boomer, Jones, Thompson and Malceski all scoring 100+ while Trengove managed to get votes in lucky find. Got another tough game this week against Staghorn Flat this week so keep up the good work. Mick Kirkby award Votes: Boomer: 5 Jones: 4 Malceski: 3 Thompson: 2 Griffen: 1

Eden Whalers 1164 vs Pearcedale Panthers 1401 Pearcedale broke the momentum but we played well enough. Griffen a big out this week but Curnow returning and Suban finally finding form should balance that out. Groote Eylandt this week in a game that will be integral to win to play in finals. Mick Kirkby award votes: Boomer 5 (3rd week in a row) Thompson 4 Malceski 3 Jones 2 Curnow 1

    Round 15 Eden Whalers 1234 vs Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1320 A good game between 2 outsiders but narrowly lost. Despite that, there were plenty of positives. Suban finally found form with a season-high 93, Aish topped the ton his second time (120) as one of 4 players over 100. We could beat Serengeti too given their recent form and might sneak 7th or 8th for the year. Mick Kirkby Award Votes: Malceski 5 Thompson 4 Aish 3 Jones 2 Smith 1 <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #ffffff;]Leaderboard <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #ffffff;]Jones 35 <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #ffffff;]Malceski 32 <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #ffffff;]Boomer 31 <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #ffffff;]Thompson 23 <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #ffffff;]Curnow 12, May, Griffen 9,[span style='color: #000000; background: #ffffff;]Aish 8 <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #ffffff;]Hale, Mitchell 5, Lynch 4, Rance, Lyons 2, Reilly, Stanley, Smith 1 Getting close at the top near the end of the season, Jones has held the lead for 10 of 12 games but he's only leading by 3 now.

Round 16: [span style='font-size: 16px;]Eden Whalers 1197 def Serengeti Buffaloes 1137 [span style='font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px;]A great effort, we lost in the midfield with Jones, Thommo and Curnow having an off week scoring 71 and Aish's rostered week off (31) but Griffen returning with 107 and Suban's 114, the forwards making it count and Serengeti's kicking themselves out of the game we managed to score the win. King Island this week with their stars Pav and The King returning, win this and we should make the finals, lose and we'll be probably out so basically an elimination final. Round 17 [span style='font-size: 16px;]Eden Whalers 1243 def by King Island Monarchs 1480 In most other games 1243 would have won so nothing to be too ashamed of. 2 players scoring 100+ with Boomer scoring 150 to take the lead in the Mickey but not the crown. [span style='font-size: 16px;]Eden Whalers 926 def by Korumburra Blowflys 1458 The coach's address went right through these boys as they went to Korumburra. There were a few who played well though, Griffen (123) returned from injury to get his first team BOG, Jones returned to form with 120 and Boyd showed a glimpse of potential scoring 64. From this performance, we're not even sure if we can beat Cow Bay so we need to lift! Mick Kirkby Award Votes: Griffen 5 Jones 4 Boomer 3 Rowe 2 Malceski 1

Eden Whalers 1223 def Banchang Barcrawlers 1113 A good win from the boys to earn their end-of-season celebrations. 8-9 pretty good for the season considering the injuries, sets up for a good next season. It's been a long, strange pre-season/ trade period. A lot of trades made (8 in all), the younger players being swapped for more consistent players in Murphy, Hendersen (if he regains his form), Pav hopefully's got a season or 2 left, Fasolo as DPP and Dawes who starts in R2. In:A Fasolo, M Murphy M Pavlich, C Dawes, R Henderson Out (traded): J Aish, S May, T Mitchell, S Thompson, T Boyd Out (delist): T Young,J Grant,J Bennell,D Stanley,B Reilly
