<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] The ORFFA Match Committee has come up with an idea for this season.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] Apologies for taking so long to get this result sorted out. It was an extremely tough decision to make; and in the end, specious reasoning seems to have held sway ;)<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] Jokes aside, thank you to everyone for the feedback provided above. On closer analysis, it seems TiB was actually on the money with his summation of the feedback. We definitely took all of the feedback into account and used it to generally form the framework of our discussions, which took place over the good part of a couple of weeks.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] And thanks to all committee members for the way the decision making process was carried out. It seemed we were close to a stalemate on several occasions, but we managed to work our way through it all. <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] In the end, we have decided to run with the same format as last year.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] We determined it is essential we all play each other once during the 'home and away' season.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] I will attempt to provide some sort of rationale as to how we came up with the rest of it.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] It was tricky, because from the feedback (not including from Committee members), 1 more person prefers top 8 than those who prefer top 6. and, essentially, 1 more person prefers 2nd chance than those who prefer picking opponents (if a top 8).<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] Obviously, you are all aware there are not enough rounds to go with the majority for both, but the margins in each decision were extremely minimal anyway.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] So, we looked at a couple of ideas put forward by committee members during the consultation process above. Those being, playing through the byes and playing two rounds in one.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] We believe there was sufficient dissent from coaches to playing through the byes to rule that out.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] We seriously considered the option of playing two rounds in one. This idea had a little interest from coaches, and almost no dissent, but there were a sufficient amount of Committee members not in favor of it, to rule it out.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] By ruling out those two options, we were pretty much left with top 8 with picking opponents or top 6 with a new setup we determined for hypothetical purposes.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] In the end, we prioritised top 8 and decided to leave it the same as last year.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] We realise there were some coaches who spoke out against last years format, so we hope this decision does not cause any dramas and we can all enjoy another top season of the ORFFA again.<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] Yours in ORFFA unity,<br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] <br style='-webkit-transition: all 0.15s ease;[/img] The ORFFA Match Committee

If no change can be agreed on then no change is better than one with only the barest majority support for sure.
Maybe during the course of this season we can explore the other options again in detail and get the coaches to vote at the end of the year, there were more than a few who declared no opinion..
