http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/108883/default.aspx
HAWTHORN ruckman Max Bailey is preparing to start this season in the VFL but remains an outside chance to travel to Tasmania to play in the Hawks' final NAB Challenge match next Friday night. The 24-year-old has missed all of the Hawks' pre-season games after the knee he had reconstructed last year swelled up following the club's intra-club match at Aurora Stadium last month. He will play a wait-and-see approach to next weekend but only after completing another full week of training.

Doctors are monitoring the condition of the Pies skipper, who suffered internal damage and cracked ribs in Saturday night's NAB Cup semi-final at Patersons Stadium. He will remain in a Perth hospital for a week and faces a month on the sidelines, ruling him out of the Magpies' Round 1 clash against Port Adelaide

Always looked like broken ribs for mine. Couldn't believe the FoxFooty commentators prattling on about a shoulder. But what do you expect from Bunghole, Russell and Gerard Oakley?
Nothing on Montagna on the Tuesday Checkup the Saints have each week. So would say it may have just been precautionary. http://www.saints.com.au/injuries/tabid/8766/default.aspx
Sam Fisher Jaw / cheekbone "Will be rested this week, he'll be right for Round 1." Michael Gardiner Knee (long term injury) "Running, but won't be rushed." Justin Koschitzke Ankle "Going well, might play a few Sandringham games soon." - Wont appear til after the bye in round 4.

Doesn't look good re Chappy... Who is still game to start with him.... http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/108985/default.aspx However, Paul Chapman continues to struggle with a groin complaint. "He's had a relatively good pre-season, he just hasn't been quite right to play," Balme said of Chapman. "He's not out of the question for round one. I think he's a fair chance of playing.
I'ts getting hard to go with Chappy with any confidence if he doesn't play this week, would much prefer to see him have a run before picking him!!!

Quote from bonesy on March 8, 2011, 16:04 luke hodge to be "eased into the season" could make for a good upgrade target
Thinking the same thing mate. After round 1 which they could always rest him for to avoid travel, the hawks have 3 relatively easy matches in which they could play him for a half or three quarters then take him off to ease him into it before the cats match. Would be ideal from a SC point of view as you'd think it would be hard not to fall in value if being subbed off. Lots of achillies injuries on that list. Most are big men/ruckman but they seem to take a while. Poor callinan - 10-12 now. It gets worse each time it's reported
Ouch, Chapman 2-3 weeks is longer than I expected to see at this stage. Definite question marks hovering here.
TS just twittered some mixed reports on Chapman.. would be good if someone had some inside word, or if anyone has seen training footage. It's getting pretty difficult to field a strong forward line amidst all this bye maneuvering.
I reckon he'll be the orange-runner at 3 quarter time to be honest, but I'd love nothing more than to see him play even if it's only for a quarter before he rests. No better way to learn to manage his knee swelling than by taking small steps (easing into a game for a quarter, seeing how it flares up and how to deal with it the following week etc) with the view to working up his fitness as the year goes on, knee permitting.
Wont be on anyones radar now but Jack Steven has apparently had some minor niggles over his 6 week suspension and as such behind everyone else in preperations.
