I was just saying tonight..I'll bet essendon can find a long term injury in the next week or so. So as to squeeze a certain new forward into their lineup.

Lo and behold I just flicked onto the Herald Sun website and this

    http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...-anthony-long/comments-e6frf9jf-1226019769579

Anthony Long goes down with "chronic" hamstring and is now on the LTI list....well marvellous...he wasnt going to play anyway

    Mzungu - Freo

Off to hospital to get scans on his knee.

Hurt it in the praccy match against eagles thats on at the moment.

    Update:
    http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/109223/default.aspx

FREMANTLE appears to have been dealt a serious injury blow in its final pre-season hit-out, with mature-age recruit Tendai Mzungu injuring his left leg in the side's NAB Challenge clash with West Coast on Saturday.

Mzungu appeared to injure either his left knee or ankle in a marking contest halfway through the first term at Fremantle Oval and he was helped from the ground by two trainers.

Possible upgrade R7 onwards but if the ligament is ruptured he might be out of contention for Supercoach this year.

Shit luck for "the Goo". Leaves my SC team in tatters now. Really hope he can get back up and into it. Looks good and deserves his chance.

Hope the kid is alright, but from an SC point of view not the worse thing that could happen. Every team even remotely interested in doing well had Mzungu in the team, now only those tracking the whole comp will be able to replace him in a considered way. Advantage Too Serious punters.

It's weird, DF, - the afl summary says irons (ankle) yet in the article is says he sat out the second half after jarring his knee

Rookie-listed onballer Jarrad Irons also sat out the second half, after jarring his knee.
    INJURIES
Port Adelaide: Thomas (plantar fasciitis*), Irons (ankle)

Callinan and Mugz really screwed my MPP for depth. Now got the choice strong with minimal MPP or lessen the line-up and have good coverage..........I run real f bad with injury :((( .

Along with the other 300,000 supercoaches, mate. Not one half-genuine team wouldn't have had them. This is why we don't do RMT threads until the last week, heh.

I watched the live stream and the commentary team said Irons was subbed off at half time for Hitchcock as planned, nothing said about injury then or by the club in it's wrap up of the game???
More worrying for Port is Thomas' injury - could be 6-8 weeks or longer!!!

There's a contradiction in that article between knee and ankle - so what is the chance that they actually used the wrong player's name too?

Now what to do...3 locks all gone.

I am after some views/confirmation of this point..

Now that Callinan and Mzungu are both out for 6-8 weeks which were both locks 2 weeks ago, is this a blessing in disguise?

They will definitely be downgrade/upgrade targets for the likes of Chapman and possibly Didak if he continues his slow start. By the time they are good to go, Swallow, Harris, Matera etc etc should all be Mooooing!

    Thoughts?

It will no doubt be good to have downgrade targets, Marty, but it comes with the issue of having to find additional rookies to cover them that may not have looked as promising.

One of the big benefits was they both had fwd/mid eligibility which was seen as a big plus for helping with the round6 bye situation, but they appear unlikely to be back in time for that. Also, the later they start, the later they'll be able to be cashed in and there's no certainty the rookies chosen to replace them in your SC side will go as well.

Jump onto the rookie discussion thread if you like - ideally we can keep this thread clean with just injury news as it makes it easy for people to quickly browse through and find information relating to a players status.

Not new news, but Freo confirmed today after scan that Mzungu will miss 8-10 weeks. And one would think he'd need a couple of weeks in the wafl after that to get back to match fitness?

SUPERCOACH ALERT: Fremantle has confirmed mature-age recruit Tendai Mzungu will miss up to 10 weeks with a knee injury.

Mzungu, 25, who had starred during the pre-season after being recruited from the WAFL, injured his medial ligament and suffered bone bruising after landing awkwardly during the Dockers' win against West Coast last weekend.

He had scans on the knee and the Dockers today listed his injury as "knee: 8-10 weeks" on the club's injury list.
