Is there any 'Gold' left in the Gold Coast? Not hearing any hot tips from down there at all. Surely there must be some some second year bloomers? Surely?

For what it's worth and bear in mind I'm no expert but I was at the Suns intra club match, mainly to check out Horsley and others. Horsley did a few good things but seemed to always be a metre behind and think he will be hard pressed to make the best 22. I have already removed him from my SC team and am thinking Prestia to replace him, if I go to a 2nd year instead of a rookie. Was also impressed with Smith,he seems to have enlarged his tank and Iles was in everything as well.

    Even later.

But we all know it's not the size that counts.

Oh please, enough with the bragging. Everyone knows an 'average' sceptre is less than a metre.

Apologies to everyone for derailing this thread. Suffice to say Terry and his alias Morgi started it.

    How about that Neale, hey?

If I can butt in between your sceptres, is anyone else feeling the dilema with Conca.

    Pros:
-Will be back for round 1
-He showed he can score pretty well when playing through the middle between rounds 4-9
-Played through the middle on Friday but is listed as a defender
    -Great disposal
-Might drop off people's radars now and be pretty unique

    Cons:
    -Mid pricer
-Doesn't score well if he isn't in the guts
-We don't get another look at him again before round 1
-Will have a bit of competition to keep a spot in the mids
-Not likely to be in the top 7 defenders of the season

Those Cons seem like enough reasons to overlook Reece Conca.

What Jason said. Mind you, I'm against picking almost anyone between ~150 - 500k.

Yeah I generally steer clear of anyone in that price bracket. But after seeing Suckling and Fyfe last year I think a well researched mid pricer who ticks enough boxes (good junior scores, listed as a def/fwd but playing mids, good pre-season) can be found.

However there's still an element of luck picking the correct one, so it's definitely a risk and a risk I was willing to take if I saw him score well in the midfield in all his pre-season games. On the back of one game I think I'll dump him for a rookie and upgrade Zaharakis to Cloke.
