whats the reason behind the sudden love for Hurn? He was impressive on Sunday night...but he has also never averaged over 100 in supercoach...

Hurn is only 25 years old, expected to push up the ground a little more this year and not have as much defensive responsibility (due to the emergence of guys like E-Mac, Schofield and Smith improving enough to help Waters and Glass out more than in previous years).

Not sure I'll have him but can see the logic in jumping on this year.

Yeah, I still have Birchall instead of him at the moment. But he's on the watchist!

Merrett is a geelong Falcons boy, very very slight frame, probably only 70kgs or so. He seemed pretty fast on the weekend and apparently has very good endurance. Besides the fact I can't see where he fits into Essendon’s "best" midfield...Its size that worries me, I'm not sure he'll be ready for the rigours of AFL footy week in week out just yet, particularly in the midfield.

Correct NTS. Jackson Merrett is 187cm and 70kg, senior listed at Essendon and a MID for SC. There are only 11 players on AFL lists (including rookies) who weigh less than J.Merrett.

    Mitchell and Shiel?

Just wait, sit tight, early days? Or will we be tempted by some others who are on the paddock and who are performing?

I don't think there's enough bench spots to cover rookies who aren't playing R1.

We'll be tempted (of course) TiB

Like a HeavyMen in a pastry shop. (McDonald, donut, Treloar, appletart, Devon Smith, eclair)

Sadly, just can't fit em all in (and no, not talkn bout the pastries - b4 you ask!)

    No silverside HM? Very disappointing.

Good point Hornsy, but I do recall Jo going with Tendai last year before he was on the paddock. A question of timing the trade opportunity. If those people we love to hate come out and say they will definitely play R1 (or 2) it makes them unsuitable downgrades, so it becomes a decision to save (getting them now) or burn (getting them later) a trade. The third alternative is to miss out and there are some good choices.
