Quote from TerryinBangkok on May 22, 2012, 15:14 That looks more like an Eagles tie than a Hawthorn tie. Didn't take long.
No worries about me - Hawthorn thru and thru. That tie is just from a time when I played for the Eagles as a junior in the 3rds. I am a little worried about bringing my daughter up over here though. The first AFL player that she recognises - in a game or in a picture - is Nick Natanui her fave player now haha

Only a couple of weeks away.
Remember that it's Geek Pride round this weekend
Geek Pride Round Just a quick bit of background for those you wondering how on earth this came to be. In order to celebrate Geek Pride Day, which is Friday 25 May, we thought it was appropriate to make this Geek Pride Round. Because let’s face facts, no matter how hard you want to deny it, fantasy football is nothing if not a little geeky (not that there’s anything wrong that!). And if you want to argue with that then I refer you to the following, which is located in the FAQs on this very website! “Are you a nerd, Les? The words uttered by the Ox when I got on SEN. Yep, this site is used by people from all walk of life, even the boys on SEN. The answer of course is Yes. But then again, most people here probably are as well.” Enough said really . And yes, I am aware that referencing the FAQs only serves to illustrate my own geek-dom! Some useless trivia Originally launched in 2006, Geek Pride Day is celebrated on 25 May to commemorate the release of the first Star Wars film on 25 May 1977. So anyway, this weekend’s round is aimed at celebrating all things geek. When you head off to the footy this weekend, embrace your inner geek-dom. Wear your Storm Trooper helmet to the game, speak Klingon when somebody asks where the nearest bathroom is, or simply grab a group of friends and all go dressed as your favourite superhero. I’d probably leave the stamp collection at home though. And just one last thing for all you ORFFA coaches out there. In the next couple of days you should receive the commemorative patch that is to be sewn on to this week’s jumpers. It’s a beautiful re-creation of this: We hope you enjoy the round! Cheers The FIXture Committee
"Geek Pride Round "And just one last thing for all you ORFFA coaches out there. In the next couple of days you should receive the commemorative patch that is to be sewn on to this week’s jumpers. It’s a beautiful re-creation of this:" Many thanks Jolcon for an inspired round name. My sister tells me there is a TV programme called "Beauty and the Geek"; I was kinda wondering if I could also get a beauty patch for the Waikik guernsies. And no I am not thinking of a (good looking) ewe. Perhaps a classy, classic look like:
This from my team home page:
Quote from anthak on May 22, 2012, 03:12 We're back on the road again in round 3, heading over to the Foul Bay to play the Chicks, and a game of footy too. James Sellar could be a late inclusion as he is an emergency. Now, if he ends up suiting up - that is a sight to behold... But maybe not one everyone would want to see of course.
We have bye rounds starting this week, so i thought I should remind everyone that we are having reduced squad sizes over the 3 rounds. our Teams will be reduced from 15 to 10 scoring players to make it fairer. 2 Def 2 Mid 1 Ruck 2 Fwd 3 Int (because we only have 2 interchange spots, everyone can place their 3 interchange players wherever they want.) Essentially, we all need to name a minimum of 2 defenders, 2 midfielders, 1 ruck and 2 forwards - but ensure to only have 10 named players in total.
Quote from anthak on May 22, 2012, 13:51 Should put this in here as well:
Quote from anthak on May 22, 2012, 10:31 Lucas, bandit - I'll put my FIXture Committee hat on now we are playing through all 3 bye rounds. Because when we drafted, it was originally thought that the draft would not finish in time for us to play each other once each and we planned to have the bye rounds off. But because the draft was finished earlier than first anticipated, we were faced with the possibilty of playing each other at least once each by utilizing the 3 bye rounds as well. After a lot of discussion, and a little force provided by our American friend, we decided that playing each other once each was best, but because people had not drafted with the prospect of playing through byes in mind, we decided that reducing the amount of scoring players would increase the chances of teams having the same amount of players up against each other. As it turns out, I am likely to be able to field a full side this week anyway, and I'm not sure how everyone else is fareing, but it definitely makes sense - does it not? I hope I have explained this well enough. I'm on my phone and a bit rushed. Please ask if you need further clarification. Cheers
