Given the youth focus that pops up from time to time in the ORFFA, I thought there was a sneaky chance he'd make it to my pick. Not to be. lol at the 'from time to time' Not going to let a defender dropping 90+ regularly slide on by. I will weigh up current value against the potential of others, and in this MSD the gap was too large.

If anyone was looking for a defender, Dempster would've been top of the list if you didn't care about age, etc. There might be a couple of other oyunger defenders with very good potential, but for exposed form this year ... yep, he's the one.
OK, so I have five backmen on my 'draft selection list' because I need a backman. One has gone - Dempster. So four remain. And for some reason I am picking the backman who I reckon is third on that list of four in terms of a whole heap of measures. Don't know why - but I just have an inkling about what I saw on the weekend, and what I've heard this year, that this guy is going to be a pretty solid player - and if we ever decide to start up a fantasy keeper pole vault league, this guy would be the first drafted given he is an underage champion. So sorry to the other 2-3 guys I had ranked ahead of Jed Bews, but I'm taking Jed Bews. He and Jed Lamb can talk about their first name. As the other backmen are picked - and they will be - I'll smirk. But I'm picking a bit for the future as well (rather than the present - McGlynn has that covered) Pick 14 -Jed 'the former Lilac' Bews. Welcome to the Blimps. Also Jed - if you can hold your spot in the seniors, it would be handy as well, given all my backmen are injured right now.
A very unhappy chels right now. Have been waiting to pull the trigger on young master Bews, only to be gazzumped at the last second.

OK, we have got to get over our disappointment and move on. With pick 15 the Waikicks draft the Defender who was third on our list (although he is really a Forward). A big Waikick welcome to Cameron Pederson, Melbourne.
