Round Three – The POTI Round (Prap Out, Tracey In)…….

Foul Bay 1631 defeated Marble Bar 1056

SPLAT…….road kill……as the Chickens roll over the Misfits by a staggering 575 pts!

To be renamed the Flatfits, Marble Bar may as well have stayed home this weekend

as the Chickens had an average score of 108 pts per player in this lopsided affair.

Led by Heath Shaw in defense (129), Paddy & Joel in the guts (166 & 142) and a lively

154 from Dahlinghouse – last year’s regular season ladder leaders are back at it again

sitting on top of the ladder at 3-0. Marble Bar’s squad included: Fantasia (87) in defense &

Phillips (46) in the ruck (cough*cough) with only Captain Ward (109), Whitfield (104) and mighty

mouse Caleb Daniel (107) bothering to show up. Sitting in 14th spot on the ladder at 1-2….could be a

long season for this motley crew.

Larrikin Lagoon 1317 defeated Nunawading 1086

Last year’s premiers are back at it again with another strong showing against the Nuffers,

winning by 231 points to be at 3-0 and sitting 2nd on the ladder. No longer hiding in the shadows after last seasons

8th spot to Premiership glory, the Lefties were led by some stand out players – none more than

Goldilocks in the ruck (172), old man Montagna in the forward line (150) and Goddard (125) & Priddis (117)

in the guts. The Nuffers tried hard, but it was left to too few: JPK (124), NicNat in the ruck scoring a great

114, Charlie balsa-wood Dixon (100) up front and Broadbent (111) holding the defense together.

Struggles a plenty me thinks as the Nuffers sit in 17th spot on the ladder at 0-3.

Birdsville 1308 defeated Darraweit Guim 1267

Continuing on from an impressive 2015 season, the Battlers held on to win by only 41 points

in this slog and remain undefeated for the season, sitting 3rd on the ladder. Solid lines at

every level, Bachar Houli (144) and old man Enright (118) held strong in defense, young gun & Pie

(hahahaha Richmond) Adam Treloar was a shining light in the middle with 101, whilst Wells (90) and his gaffa

taped body and youngster Weller (105) were solid in the forward line. The embattled Dirigible coach had

a squad of triers, all trying to show him not to abandon them. Unlucky to go down by 41 pts, the Guim

were led by Rance (116) in defense, 6 kg Newnes in the middle (111) and old man Boomer (131)

in the forward line. Youngster Lyons chipped in with an impressive 97. Sadly for Chris, the two guys holding

the “Save Our Coach” banner could only muster 39 pts each being one handed – Ben Brown & Michael Walters.

Wagga Wagga 1090 defeated Lovely Banks 1049

The last remaining undefeated team were lucky to fall over themselves in this one as the Wombats went on

to uncomfortably win by only 41 pts against the rebuilding Lilacs. Sitting 4th on the ladder at this stage is a great

turn around though from last year, where the Wombats languished in 14th place. Dylan stud Shiel was superb

in the guts, scoring 101, Buddy as flamboyant as ever up front with a 109 – but they now have a huge hole to fill in

defense, with stalwart Murphy (95) doing his ACL and out for the year. The Lilacs continue to build, with Tommy

Langdon (125) leading the defense & Mitch Duncan (126) everywhere in the middle. Stanley (26) in the Ruck is a

big problem, and Darcy Moore, who will be a star, struggled as happens with kids, also scoring a measly 26 pts.

But its coming for the Lilacs – 2nd year Heeney (62), ex Hopper Hartung (54) and 1st year star Darcy Parish (83)

    will eventually grow this team.

    Gundagai 1200 defeated Gariwerd 1149

Yep – I am Anth’s bogey team…..I cant beat anyone else except the Cockatoo’s it seems, running out to a slim

victory of 51 pts to be 1-2 on the year. Rising Star and snoz love child of 4 months Jacob Weitering continues to

impress and top scored for the Hoppers with 129 (It’s a shame we have no other bloody defenders). A solid but not

great young mid line of Cripps, Neale, Adams & Mills will have their ups & downs but scored 83, 100, 107 & 56

whilst Billings led the way up front with a wonderful 109. Jack Martin has been steady all year (90) whilst the package

was shut down and scored only 76. The Cockatoos had Smith (107) and Hurn (102) in defense and Polec up front (123),

but were let down by Guthrie (64), Masten (60) and Jones (66) in the middle, and a forward line that lost them the game:

Christensen (25) and Jong 52) need to pull their socks up to recover from their 1-2 start.

(Funny how the Hops at 1-2 is encouraging but the Cockies 1-2 start is disappointing!)

Venus Bay 1271 defeated Mount Beauty 1245

Closet game of the round saw the Vultures eeeeeeek out a 26 pt win over the rival Uglies. Sitting at 2-1, Venus Bay

has some bloody good kids: Docherty in defense (116), Parker (129) in the middle & Jesse body language Hogan (116)

in the forward line. Throw in Stef Martin (106) in the ruck and Kreuz backing him up (65) from the bench, the squad has

high hopes of emulating their 3rd place finish in 2015. The Unlucky Uglies were defined by big Maxi Gawn. Never to

mistaken for a ‘looker’, Gawnie went up agst Goldie and more than held his own, scoring 172 big ones in a fabulous bearded

game. KK continues to make his mark as one of the best young backmen in the league (113) & the Cotch/Ellis duo spat out

a solid 129 & 119 in the middle. Cannon McKenzie, trying to atone for last year’s crap season, decided he was too pretty to be

an Ugly, making sure that he smashed his nose off his face early in the game and scoring only 4 pts. Whilst I’m sure it was

appreciated by his Ugly mates, his actions probably cost the Mount Beauty then win.

Iron Knob 1450 defeated Waikikamoocow 1177

The Codpieces destroyed this Kiwi mob by 273 points in this one sided matchup that saw the sheep shaggers down three

players (doing other things perhaps?). Sitting at 2-1 and backing up last year’s 4th place finish, the Cods ran amuck, with

Burgoyne (121) and Sutcliffe (106) string in defense, GAJ (135) doing what he liked in the middle & supported by Robbie

Gray (123), whilst supercoach leader (WTF?) Jarrad Waite once again doing as he likes in the forward line, scoring 123 pts.

Great interchange depth (Shuey 119 & Hanley 120), but the ruck is a worry, with Darling chipping in out of position with 53 pts.

The Incorrigibles were simply outmanned. Hanners (125), Fyfe (115) and Titch (108) were again the strength in the guts,

but Nick Graham (61) was out of his depth. Mitch I love to get reported Robinson was strong in the forward line with 120,

and Adam Hall continues on his merry way since breaking out late last year, scoring 134. In the end, three donuts does not

a summer make and the Cows will need to readdress this to repeat last year’s 5th place finish.

Charlies Opening 1227 defeated Wineglass 943

The Spelunkers look set to solidify a top 8 spot after finishing just outside it in 2015. Sitting 2-1 and in 8th spot, they were led

admirably by ruckman/middle whatever he is Blitz with 117. Davis, until he breaks again, with 99 and Savage (94) held the backline

together, Zerrett continues to outperform in the forward line with 99, but the middle men were a worry: Bont 67, Swallow 67

need to step up as Hill (98) and Jack (92) led the way. This round was named for the new Packers owner, but sadly she may have

been emptying wineglasses instead of concentrating on her young squad. With Marly Williams (18) going down with injury in the

1st quarter and Sandi breaking his chest (27), the Packers need to put down the wine bottle and get back to basics. Sloane (92)

was solid but is down on last year’s form, Lynch (112) was terrific but the likes of Hewett (19), Matera (52) and Kerridge (65)

need to step up or more 284 point shellackings will be on the way.

Whitsunday 1226 defeated Cradle Mountain 1116

The 2015 Warriors struggled mightily and ended up in 15th place at season’s end. This 2016 version though has really stepped up

and sits at 2-1 in 6th place after easily accounting for the Devils by 110 points. Led by the forward line, JJK scored 101 & I eat too many

turtles Motlop chipped in with 114 points. Lobb in the ruck is a worry, taking home only 38 chocolates, but the other lines are

solid with few standouts. Suckling controlled the backline with 92, whilst his team-mates all chipped in with 70’s. Wines (93)

and Boak (90) led the middle, with again their team-mates chipping with 70’s. The Devils are maybe a little lost, or they

just like that 11th place finish in 2015, as they now sit in 12th in 2016 with a 1-2 score line. The back line is a worry: Vlastuin (36),

Lever (65) & Smith (65) need to do more. Pendles & his ribs scored 102, Zaha continues his impressive season with 101

whilst Zorko the magician led all forwards with 111.

Excellent writeup Snoz, and well done on the win.
I bet Gundagai fans look forward to the ORFFA FIXture each year to see when they play the Cockies.

Top work sNoZ - thank you. BTW, you were a little generous with your suggestion that the Cow's management might be capable of building a strong team.

I ate too many turtles the winning line for me.

Spelunkers apparently rebuilding... Hmmm need to force my way down the ladder and up the draft order!

Thanks for the write up @snoz ! The Battlers surprising no one more than the coach with the 3-0 start. Perhaps not the best week to strike the Chooks though. 'In form' would be something of an understatement coming off that score.

Not sure what @Tracey did to offend the SC gods. Scores of 18, 19, 27 and injuries to 2 starters in the round dedicated to her seems more than a little harsh.

American spelling aside, spins quite a good yarn.

Does not surprise me that the locusts scored 1200 - they are no longer the sympathy team :spoton:
