Fair enough leave it as it is (rules are meant to be broken I guess), but there is no need then for a trade commish!

So wait, what is happening with Mine and Lenny's trade, I'm confused now.

No I think there is Bama... and if you believe the rules are broken then the Trade Commish should step in. However the way I saw it, it was resolved to the satisfaction of both parties, so no harm done... maybe I have it wrong?

Fitzy, the trade is off as I understand it

Len, Thanks for the reply to my questions
    I can see clearly now

I must be missing something along the way - btw, thanks gravenger for the questions and Len for the answers for getting me into thinking mode.

We have to delist a minimum of 4 to bring each squad down to 22 maximum.
The draft order is for 6 picks.

If I delist 4 I should only get 4 draft picks, not 6 draft picks - unless we have agreed to build to squads of 28. Have we?

If I delist 4 and trade out my 5th and 6th picks am I acting within the spirit of the draft and ORFFA? I only get the 5th and 6th picks if I delist more than the minimum.

I accept I have probably missed something, but could a helpful fellow manager please point it out.

    :) all good chels.
You have to enter the draft period with a squad of 22 or less, and finish it with a squad of 26.

You can delist 26 if you like and draft them all back, the reason I did the order to 6 was it seemed to be the likely point where we would stop, but as noted in that post I can add more rounds if needed.

I for example will have 22 players only when we get there, either by having to delist 4, or by a combination of traded picks and delistings, but either way I wont be cutting below that number so my drafting will end at round 4 but others may want to cut deeper. No-one can cut shallower.

much appreciated Len - the font of all ORFFA knowledge!!

Presumably if I trade my round 5 pick (#96 I think) I therefore have to delist 5 players?

Just wanted to put it out there that I'm open to hearing trade offers again. I'm gonna try to be able to put a bit more time into it ;)

I'm mainly interested in doing 2 for 1s with a draft pick included as well. Preferably 2 of my players for 1 of yours and a draft pick, but will entertain the other way around as well :)

I'm looking fwd to the discussions

Chels, the way I see it, it's all about squad numbers going into the draft
Everyone needs to delist their squad to 22 or less prior to the draft

Yeah, that's how I see it too Chels.
For instance, if I trade my 6th round pick and then only need to draft 3 players to get up to 26 squad size, then that traded pick would end up being my 4th rd pick.
It would be very unfair if the 6th rd pick stayed as the traded pick.

TiB and I did a trade like this mid season. How we did it then was that TiB traded me Vardy for my last draft pick. If I had have delisted 6 players, he would have got my 6th rd pick; if I had have delisted 2 players, then he would have got my 2nd pick.
As it turned out, I only delisted 1, so he got my first pick haha.

Not sure on that ant, I think that's an unnecessary complication, the pick you trade out is up the other person to exercise or not, it has nothing to do with you once traded, if they don't delist down to that round and pick than they don't exercise it, simple. At the start of the draft they must have 22 players or less, at the end of it they must have 26.
That's neat and simple, I am a fan of things like that :)

How can you trade a draft pick that you don't have though?

I don't really have my 6th round pick unless I go in to the draft with just 20 players

You can trade your 12th round pick if you like, good luck finding someone stupid enough to trade it :)
The market value of a 6th round pick would be dirt unless a manager is planning on recycling a large chunk of his team, it's not what it's worth to you, it's what it's worth to someone else, I'd reckon close to nil personally, but if you can find the guy who wants it then it is up to them exercise it, or they will have genuinely traded it for nil...

I dont know about all that, I understand what you're saying but I'm not sure of the relevance really (Im probably missing it; im not saying it is not relevant).
I do get that its much easier to just stick to the pick thats traded, and Im personally not fussed which way we go - in fact, I'd be happy if we go with that format to make things easier.

When I responded to Chels, I genuinely thought that thats how we would be doing it. I find it somewhat confusing that we would be able to trade picks that we wouldnt have even used ourselves if the trade had not been done.

I was just looking for clarification of a hypothetical ....

I agree Ant that I should not be able to sell something I do not own (a sixth round draft pick if I only plan to delist four "players").

I see what your getting at as well Len, its value (if it were mine to sell) should be very low, tending towards zero. Some may want a fifth round pick, but only because they have effectively delisted five. Either by trading out two players for one. Or by actually delisting five players.

I guess the former case is why we have the one for one rule; which include a player and a draft pick for two players.

    :)
If you sold your 6th round draft pick it's no longer yours, whether you plan to use it or not is now completely irrelevant, it belongs to someone else, presumably as their 7th pick, but in the 6th round, and entirely up to them to use or not.

IF they were planning to draft 7 players it has a value as it would be higher than their 7th round pick.

The hypothetical doesn't apply if you see what I mean..

Sounds fair ant, though I may wait for a beefier offer! :p Saw this today and wanted to use it:
