I've sent Fitzy a note, very sure he will get online if he can, but otherwise probably on hold until later this afternoon now.
A question: do we have dates for the 2013 mid-season draft (delist a minimum of two?) and will there be a trading period prior to the draft? Discussion wanted.
I think so BB, hence my question. I would like to have a discussion as to whether delisting be made voluntary at the mid-year draft. Those with injuries or incomplete teams would want to draft, others might be happy to tick along with what they have got. Does putting 36 players into the draft pool help those whose teams are struggling?

Remembering this comment yesterday from an ORFFA colleague who has far more wisdom and foresight than myself.... I stumbled across this discussion today: Supercoach seasonal averageof players throughout their career: Players used in the sample :Adam Goodes, Jonathan Brown, Ted Richards, Chris Judd, Heath Scotland, Alan Didak, Corey Enright, Jimmy Bartel, Paul Chapman, Joel Selwood, Steve Johnson, Lance Franklin, Luke Hodge, Sam Mitchell, Brad Sewell, Brett Deledio, Chris Newman, Shane Tuck, Justin Koschitske, Lenny Hayes, Nick Riewoldt, Sam Fisher, Matthew Boyd, Robert Murphy, Beau Waters, Daniel Kerr, Dean Cox, Scott Selwood, Dustin Fletcher, Jobe Watson, Greame Johncock, Michael Rischitelli Two small morsels from the conversation based on the statistics: A supercoach player is statistically likely to peak at 22 years of age A player is statistically most likely to enter a recession around the age of 26
I understand the trading policy we currently have has trading pre and post season, not during. I am a fan of this, I remember somewhere a discussion about a mini trade period after this draft and prior to the start of the season, I don't have a personal position on it as I hope to have the squad I want without trading, though that could change. For drafting we have a compulsory minimum of 2 delists for the mid season draft, to be conducted in the bye weeks.
Unless of course your name is Shane Tuck (who, I note, was one of the players studied in the survey). Shane Tuck 2005 - 22 games, SC average 112 (aged 24). Shane Tuck 2011 - 10 games, SC average 82 (aged 30). Shane Tuck 2012 - 22 games, SC average 115 (aged 31). The guy is a bit of a freak, and had really be unfairly maligned up until last year.

I guess what I am saying is that you could factor in a 10% rise every year from 18-22, then a plateau, then a 5-10% decline from 26 each year...

Really wanted Russel, then Terlich... but with pick 56 Venus Bay Vultures select Matt Shaw from the GCS

I'm with you chels... not sure it should be mandatory participation... but absolutely open to voluntary Can someone remind me of the logic behind compulsory participation in the mid-year draft? There was some logic behind it but I can't remember what! That said, I wouldn't mind it being voluntary to be honest. I think most of us would take part anyway and find at least one player to delist given we have 26 each.
From memory it was mostly driven by the desire to not delist 6 preseason, which then became a discussion about doing 4 preseason and 2 midseason, the only bit anyone seemed to care about at the time was the preseason bit. I don't see any reason options can't be discussed, maybe in a different thread though
Scott Watters believes this guys could end up being the next Pendlebury, that'll do me. With pick 57 the Misfits draft Sebastian Ross from the mighty Saints
i didnt realise (or possibly, remember) that it is mandatory to delist two players this midseason. I personally do not think we should make it mandatory. and it seems as though there are heaps of others that feel the same, so if anyone feels strongly about that rule being added this season (as it is a new thing compared to last season), then I suggest they create a new thread to discuss the options and try and convince the rest of us that it should be mandatory.
