Round 15 – AFL Round 18 Rural Round: So many great VFL/AFL footballers have arrived in the big leagues from rural and regional Australia. And just as many have remained close to home, becoming closer to myth than flesh and blood human while lighting up country leagues with extraordinary longevity and improbable goalkicking performances. And while many of our great ORFFA teams showcase players from rural and regional areas, there's a few who might welcome a country-based myth or two into their squads. Both teams didn’t do well with selecting their teams. Still a long way to go.
Few highlights in what may well be the low scoring game of the round between @Tracey 's Packers (Sam Taylor 134 a very honourable exception) and the Cows (Kiddy Coleman a smooth (as silk) 119). The visitors (13 / 813) lead the home side 10 / 774) on gross, but not on average per player. On a cold, wet night many of the Bulls Hit Tav's patrons wisely chose to watch the Tour de France and the British Open golf on the big screens rather than risk ailments from the elements. Turnover at the bar was very satisfactory. Maybe sufficient to fund a few transfers in the off season. Goodness knows we need them.
My win this week has almost sewn up a top-3 finish. I have only ever finished top-4 once before, and it was in 4th position, so this will be the first time I get to select my week 1 finals opponent, which Im sure should be fun and terrifying all at once
Definite kudos to Iron Knob, that's a great effort. As for Pick 1, I'm out of that fight having traded that pick away (though in the full knowledge that having a bevy of good second and third round picks in a draft where we are all delisting extra players is likely to lead to good outcomes). That said, I was ever hopeful of rising a couple of rungs from the foot of the ladder! But the Nuffers have definitely found, drafted, traded for and identified some talent in the past 12-18 months while at the same time having at least 6-8 easy delistment decisions at the end of this season. The core of a decent young team is there (a good portion of which was due to Tassie Hawk's efforts before I came on board). Had some good luck since with some trades and drafting, just need some extra depth and emerging quality which hopefully the end of season trade and draft period will provide. But in the meantime, I'm going to return to my corner ....
Indeed, as it stands currently I have picks 1,3 & 6 .. with @churchboy to play Larrikin lagoon in the final round...
I've got a great deal in mind for Pick 1 Bandit. It involves a ..... yeah, it isn't going to work, is it.
never say never @chris88, you better have a pallet of burger rings as a kicker though, or else it will be met with a Get Stuffed
Congrats @churchboy - no doubt an entertaining clash for the fans! But, man. This game.... sometimes....well.... That's our third single digit loss for the year. Add the loss by 21 and that's 4 losses by a combined 34 points. So 4-11 isn't far off from being 8-7. Anyway, we dust ourselves off and go again.
8-7 and you are thinking about finals mate... now you are thinking about the outrage that is bunnings snags going up to $3.50!
